A young woman has told of her devastation after a close friend posted pictures of her and 10 other women alongside disgusting comments on a porn website. She was horrified to find that Balloch man Sean Monaghan was behind the sick stunt which saw innocent photos of women from across the area viewed thousands of times on an X-rated US site. Several of the girls travelled to Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week to watch as justice was served on the 24-year-old former shop worker, who was placed on the sex offenders register for two years and handed a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work. The young woman spoke of her relief at the ending of the case but said that she has been traumatised by the betrayal and now struggles to trust those close to her. She said: We are really pleased with the sentence and the fact hes been put on the sex offenders register. The sheriff [Maxwell Hendry] went through him and was fantastic. The sheriff said the issue was the threatening comments and threats he had made alongside the photos, not the pictures themselves. They were just normal prom and selfie photos. Seans lawyer said he knew how we felt but he has no idea. We are glad its over but its been such a long, distressing and embarrassing process. It was awful having to tell our families. We just want people to know what hes done. He seemed a normal guy and we would never have thought hed have done something like this. He was a best friend and I find it really difficult to trust people now and Im cautious about what I put up on Facebook. Monaghan pleaded guilty to posting the images onto adult pornographic websites and the internet without the womens knowledge or permission. He also admitted posting comments referring to the images which were of a sexually violent, threatening, offensive and derogatory nature, encouraging other users to post similar comments, posting images of his penis alongside the pictures and committing a breach of the peace. The offences took place over the course of a year between November 1, 2014, and November 1, 2015, at his home in Inchconnachan Avenue. Monaghan, who now lives on Glasgow Road in Dumbarton East, knew all of the women, who are aged between 20 and 25, and took holiday and prom photographs from their Facebook pages before uploading them on the adult site. Some of the women were his colleagues at a shop in Dumbarton where he worked at the time. The Lennox Herald told last year how the women only discovered the images after being alerted by one of the groups college friends at Halloween. They were dismayed when police officers initially told them there was nothing they could do as no crime had been committed so they decided to track the perpetrator down themselves and set up a couple of fake profiles on the site. It was there they read the horrifying comments and were able to confirm the person behind it was a trusted friend. She continued: There were videos of him on there touching himself to our pictures and we recognised his voice, his laptop and even his hands. By that point, we knew it was him so we confronted him but he said he didnt know anything about it. He later messaged me and a few of the other girls admitting it and saying he was sorry and that he didnt mean it. Once the police got on board again they were fantastic and they have been good throughout in keeping us updated on the case. She added: It still feels quite raw. At first I didnt want to be angry with him because he was my friend but as all the comments were read out in court I thought I shouldnt feel sorry for him. Now its just hatred. He still lives in Dumbarton and I still drive past his car all the time and Im reminded of what hes done. Even on Facebook, old photos of us will pop up as memories from when we were friends. When I look at them and look at him now I see a different person. The Sean I thought I knew wasnt my friend at all.

Top judges have refused to increase the jail term of a Merstham man who blighted the lives of three children, despite claims the sentence was “unduly lenient”.

Neil Hunter Cameron, 57, committed sex attacks on two young girls and showed an adult film to a teenage boy, whilst talking to him about “manly urges”.

Cameron, of Albury Road, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault on a child under 13 and causing a child to watch a sexual act.

He was jailed for JUST 20 months at Guildford Crown Court on March 18.

That sentence was attacked yesterday as nowhere near tough enough by lawyers representing the Attorney General, Jeremy Wright QC.

Three senior judges at London’s Appeal Court heard Cameron groped one girl and kissed another, whilst making suggestive comments.

He showed the boy part of an 18 certificate “arthouse” film, portraying a sex scene between adults, and talked euphemistically about sex.

One victim complained to her family about what had happened to her and the police became involved.

Cameron then walked into his local police station and confessed to other sex crimes, which had gone undiscovered for almost a decade.

Lawyers for the Attorney General argued that Cameron had got off far too lightly for what he did to multiple victims.

But Cameron’s legal team urged a merciful course, saying he was sorry and that his brother had killed himself last week.

Lord Justice Davis, sitting with Mr Justice Jay and Judge Neil Ford QC, described it as a “sad case”.

“He has not sought to minimise his conduct. His expressions of remorse and shame were undeniably genuine and sincere,” he added.

“There was the fact of the voluntary confession to the police of the offences committed some years ago.”

Refusing to increase the sentence, Lord Justice Davis said: “What good would it do for this offender to spend but a few more months in prison?

“It would do no good. We are not prepared to interfere with the sentence imposed in this case.”

Merstham man jailed for serious sexual offences against children.

A MERSTHAM man has been jailed for serious sexual offences against children.

Neil Cameron, 57, of Albury Road, appeared at Guildford Crown Court today and pleaded guilty to four offences which took place between 2006 and 2015. 

These included three counts of sexual assault touching a child under 12 years old and one count of causing a child to watch or look at an image of sexual activity.

Cameron was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 10 years and been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Commenting after the sentencing, Detective Constable Jason Kelly of East Surrey Safeguarding Investigation Unit, said: “I am pleased that the custodial sentence will put this predatory man behind bars – I hope today’s court result will go some way to providing the victims with the strength to put these incidents behind them and move on with their lives.

“This outcome has been made possible thanks to their bravery and having the courage to come forward and report this man’s appalling behaviour.

“Any victim of a sexual offence is encouraged to come forward and report any similar incidents. Surrey Police has a dedicated team that specialises in investigating serious sexual offences and victims can be assured that their welfare will be our priority.”

A married man who committed a sex attack on a five-year-girl in a toilet has been jailed for six years.

Stephen Manley, who denied the offence but was found guilty by a jury after a trial, will also be on licence for 12 months after his release from prison.

Manchesters Minshull Street Crown Court heard his young victim had been affected psychologically and doesnt now shut toilet doors.

Manley, 34, of Well Meadow, Hyde, was convicted of a single count of sex assault and was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for an indefinite period of time.

The attack took place in Dukinfield , Tameside .

Manley, who has no previous convictions, had been painting at a house when he carried out the attack.

Huw Edwards, prosecuting, said the girl was playing in the garden with another girl and went to the toilet.

Manley went into the toilet to ask if she needed help, Mr Edwards said.

Judge Jonathan Foster QC said he took advantage of her presence.

He added: There was no direct corroboration of her evidence but she made a complaint of sorts to her friend that something had happened and complained to her mother when she got home.

The court heard the girl gave accurate descriptions of Manleys tattoos and paint on his body. She gave evidence at the trial.

Paul McDonald, defending Manley, said: The defendant does not accept the circumstances of the offence. He is a man of good character.

He has been a happily married man for some years and he has retained the support of his family and friends. They do not recognise his behaviour, but he must accept the verdict of the jury. He knows and accepts that the court has a duty to perform.

Judge Foster QC added: She described distinctive features of the man who had done this. You had tattoos and had been painting.

At the end of the day the jury convicted you and that is what I have to follow. She was a very young child of five years of age and it has affected her psychologically.

Manley was also made the subject of a list of stringent conditions over future contact with children as part of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

A former hospital cleaner has been jailed for 14 years for raping a woman near Eastbourne Pier and carrying out a string of sex attacks at his workplace. Mani Kurian, 50, of Eridge Road, Eastbourne, was convicted of rape, five sexual assaults and assault by beating following a trial at Lewes Crown Court. He raped a 21-year-old woman as she walked on the upper promenade in Eastbourne in October 2014. Sussex Police described Kurian as a "sexual predator". 'Long ordeal' Three of the sex attacks took place at Worthing Hospital between 2013 and 2015. He also sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman in Hampden Park, Eastbourne, in April 2015. The assault by beating took place at Eastbourne District General Hospital in January 2015. None of his victims were patients. Det Insp Neil Ralph said Kurian was a "sexual predator who targeted women both in the workplace and in public". "Today's sentence brings a successful resolution to what has been a long ordeal for the victims involved." Kurian was sentenced to 12 years for the rape, two years to run consecutively for one sex assault charge and two years each, to run concurrently, for the other four counts. He also received a sixth-month jail sentence for the assault by beating which is to run concurrently.

A SEX offender with links to Wiltshire is on the run.

Police are hunting Krzysztof ODonnell, also known as Krystoff ODonnell, 33, for failing to comply with the Sex Offenders Notification Requirements.

The 33-year-old was last seen in Bristol on January 28 and also has links to South Gloucestershireand South Wales.

He is described as a white eastern European man, 6ft 1ins, of proportionate build, with shoulder-length fair/brown curly hair, with a moustache and goatee-style beard, with blue eyes.

He is originally from Poland and speaks with a Polish accent.

Police are advising the public not to approach him, but to report any sightings of him immediately via 999.

Robert Neill, 63 of Park Lane, Thatcham, carried out a series of sexual assaults at Kennet School where he worked between 1986 and 2003. A school PE teacher who chose vulnerable boys who took his fancy to prey on and sexually abuse has been jailed for 21 years for raping a pupil. Robert Neills wife blew him a kiss across the courtroom as the 63-year-old was led down to the cells on Wednesday, March 9, after a judge described how he had left an indelible mark on his victims, some as young as 11. The paedophile, of Park Lane, Thatcham and who was a housemaster at the school, was sent to prison for more than two decades for sexually assaulting boy pupils where he worked for 17 years. He worked at Kennet School in Thatcham, when he carried out the severe sexual acts, which included a rape. Sitting at Reading Crown Court Judge Angela Morris described the 63-year-old as a man who preyed on the youngest and most vulnerable pupils at his school to carry out his abuse which left an indelible mark upon them. The teacher would single out the youngest boys in their academic years and also naughty pupils before demanding that they paid him a visit in his office. Acting as the head of St Michaels House at the Berkshire school, he would inflict his abuse during the office visits within the grounds of the school.

A TEENAGER was jailed for four and a half years after admitting a string of sex offences - including raping a 12-year-old girl.

Bradley Hall, 18, from Darlington, was 16 when he asked the girl to his house before having sex with her.

He also had a six-week sexual relationship with a "vulnerable" underage girl when he was 17, which led to her later attempting suicide.

And he had more than 60 indecent images of a 17-year-old girl - itself an offence - on his phone when it was seized, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Sarah Mallett, prosecuting, said the 12-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had gone to her GP with her mother for emergency contraception and the GP had raised concerns with the police.

Hall had contacted the girl on social media, where she was listed as being 16 but she told him that she was just 12 years old.

Ms Mallett said: "She sent him pictures and they agreed to meet."

After they had sex he asked her to leave because his mother was returning home and she did not see him again. The victim felt he had taken advantage of her because he had told her he loved her.

He then started messaging a 13-year-old - and sent her explicit photos and videos of himself, the court heard, while she sent pictures of herself topless, through social media.

She told him she was 13, but he replied: "Age doesn't matter when you love someone."

The vulnerable 15-year-old victim he had a sexual relationship with had suffered from psychotic episodes, the court was told.

Ms Mallett said: "If she expressed reluctance (to have sex) he would say she was boring."

Richard Bennett, mitigating, said the 12-year-old victim was "a particularly vulnerable child".

But he said: "The defendant took issue that he deliberately targeted her because he didn't know of her background.

"He has pleaded guilty to rape which for any man is a huge thing to do.

"It is going to have a huge impact on the rest of his life. This is a statutory rape charge - this isn't a man who has forced himself on (the 12-year-old girl).

"He realised pretty quickly what he had done was very serious."

Hall has already served nine months on remand in Holme House Prison.

Judge Colin Burn said: "We have seen 14 offences taking place over a fairly narrow period of time when you were 16 going on 17.

"Two of the three girls were certainly extremely vulnerable. The reality is that both of them have suffered significantly. Any pre-existing problems have been made worse as a result of your quest for sexual gratification."

He jailed Hall for four years and six months, ordered his phone to be forfeited and served him with a restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Court hears he groomed girls with "truth or dare" games A convicted sex offender has been jailed for nine years after he abused two schoolgirls following a game of truth or dare in his home. Sentencing 50-year-old Carl Robert Whitehead at Leeds Crown Court Recorder Andrew Haslam said he had initially befriended the girls through their interest in his pet dog and then groomed them. You developed your association with both of these girls on social media such as Facebook and contacted them over their mobile telephones. He said Whitehead even paid for a top-up on one girls phone and they began visiting his home. One text message suggested he had offered them alcohol although he knew they were not old enough to drink, being 13 and 14. Recorder Haslam said a friend of Whitehead advised him to end the association and even contacted the police and they repeated that advice but he ignored them. I am satisfied you ignored that advice because you wanted to develop an association with both girls, although you knew they were under 16, for the specific reason of taking sexual advantage of them. You did that solely for the purpose of satisfying your own sexual desires. I am satisfied you groomed these girls for your own sexual purposes. He said it did not matter who suggested the game of truth or dare it developed as you wanted it to. There was kissing then he suggested they remove their clothes and finally his touching them sexually. Recorder Haslam said he believed Whitehead at least tried to go further, because he had subsequently bought them pregnancy testing kits and there was no other reason for that. He had also put the girls through a trial and accused them of fabricating their accounts which had added to their ordeal. His behaviour had clearly had a psychological impact on them. Whitehead, of St James Street, Heckmondwike, was found guilty by a jury on four charges of sexual activity with a child. Kirstie Watson prosecuting told the court had previous convictions for indecent exposure in 1988, 1989 and on April 15, 2011 as well as a conviction for gross indecency with a six year old child in 1990. Mathew Harding defending Whitehead said he still denied any offence against the girls. He had already found his experience in prison difficult being subjected to bullying.

Father-of-three Jason Lawrance, from Liphook, Hampshire, was jailed for life in 2016 after committing sex attacks against seven women he met through a dating website.

Sentencing the 50-year-old for attacking all seven women, Judge Gregory Dickinson QC told him: "I am convinced that you are devious, manipulative and highly dangerous to women.

"In my judgment these offences taken together - so many victims, the trail of terror and agony for which you are responsible - mean that the imposition of a sentence of imprisonment for life is fully justified."

He was also convicted by a jury at Derby Crown Court of sexually assaulting and attempting to rape two further victims.

Ronald Preddy, 73, used threats and bribes to encourage children into sexual acts A former colliery security guard labelled a remorseless sexual predator has been jailed for 18 years for sexual offences against boys. Ronald Preddy, 73, of Dunraven Street, Glyncorrwg, in Port Talbots Upper Afan Valley , had denied offences including rape and indecent assault going back to the 1990s against two boys. But at a Swansea Crown Court trial he was found guilty of the offences and was sentenced by Judge Huw Davies QC on Friday. The judge described Preddy as a remorseless sexual predator who had committed offences over a 25-year period using bribes in one case as low as 50p and in some cases using threats to encourage children into sexual acts. The trial heard evidence relating to two sets of offences against two boys, one relating to the 1990s, the other said to have occurred more recently. The court heard the offences took place in the South Wales area and that Preddy had been, until his retirement, a security guard at a coal mine. In 2004, Preddy was jailed for eight years for separate sexual offences, also involving a young boy. Judge Davies said over a 12-year period, Preddy had been before Swansea Crown Court three times for sexual offences, each time denying he had done anything wrong. The judge told Preddy: You have shown no remorse whatsoever. Preddy was given in total a 21-year extended prison sentence but with a custodial element of 18 years. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.

A DISGRACED Hampshire teacher has been jailed for three years after he sexually asaulted children and filmed up young girls' skirts in a school cupboard.

Benjamin Sarfas was sent to prison having pleaded guilty to 19 counts of sexual offences against children.

The 31 year old, of Springvale Road, Kings Worthy, was a newly qualified teacher at Kempshott Junior School in Basingstoke when he began abusing children in 2011, continuing until his arrest in March last year, Winchester Crown Court heard.

Dozens of family members of the nine victims, all girls aged between eight and 11, were in the public gallery as Sarfas was sent down.

Prosecutor Kerry Maylin told the court that the offences came to light when one victim was overheard telling a friend that Sarfas had indecently assaulted her and asked her to go in a cupboard and close her eyes.

Miss Maylin explained that Sarfas was warned by other teachers about being alone with girls.

She added: "His response to any such advice when they were trying to protect him was to say 'it's just because I'm a man.'"

A charge of voyeurism related to a file found on Sarfas' computer with videos showing one of his victims repeatedly taking her clothes off and putting them on again, while Sarfas asked her to practise changing.

The court heard that Sarfas was engaged and due to be married in April last year, but his fiancée called off the wedding when Sarfas was arrested in March.

Miss Maylin said his ex-fiancee, who was also a teacher, told police that Sarfas had admitted that he thought about young girls.

Impact statements were read out from the parents of the victims.

One mother said: "She's still frightened of seeing him. She doesn't like talking about what happened and does have nightmares. She doesn't want to get comfortable with teachers in case it happens again."

Another said: "It led to her feeling disgusted with herself."

Mitigating, Dee Connolly said: "His chances of a normal life and marriage are shattered and the future is rather bleak for him."

Miss Connolly said her client had been seeing a therapist and was sorry for the pain he had caused.

Sarfas was jailed for two years for seven counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13, 12 months for 11 counts of taking indecent photographs of a child, to run consecutively, and four months in prison for one count of voyeurism, to run concurrently.

He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life, and banned from working with children.

Judge Keith Cutler said: "All these actions can be described as disgusting and appalling, the effects on these children has been significant, blighting what should have been a carefree youth."

A 27-year-old from Ash has been sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of rape.

Daniel Band had been on a night out in Aldershot when he met the victim with a friend on Saturday December 14 2013.

The three ended up at Bands house in Avondale, at about 3am on Sunday December 15, where they had more to drink and the court heard they all fell asleep on the sofa.

During the trial of Band, who denied one count of anal rape, prosecutor Christopher May told the jury at Guildford Crown Court on Monday February 8 that at one point in the evening the victim woke up and went outside for a cigarette.

Mr May told the court that when she came back from having a cigarette, the two men were asleep.

So she went back and sat on the sofa and fell back asleep herself, Mr May said.

There had been, the crown say, no suggestion of sexual talk or foreplay or anything like that prior to this.

The court heard the victims friend left the house, leaving her and the defendant in the living room.

A manipulative teacher branded arrogant by a judge has been jailed for abusing young girls.

Predatory Robert Appleby, who taught at Herne Bay High School, committed sex offences against two teenagers.

The 42-year-old, who had been investigated three times and suspended once, has now been sentenced to seven years and nine months behind bars.

Appleby, of Stablegate Mews, Canterbury, groomed one victim and persuaded another to lie to police about sex images he encouraged her to send.

Jailing him, Judge James OMahony said: You are a highly intelligent , talented artist, who is charismatic.

You are also arrogant.

A jury at Canterbury Crown Court heard how an anonymous letter to the head of the school led to Appleby being arrested.

He denied a relationship with the author of the letter but the investigation revealed he had a relationship with another girl, naked pictures of whom were found on his computer.

Appleby had denied sexually abusing a second girl but the jury rejected his accounts and found him guilty.

He had earlier admitted sex offences involving a second victim.

During the trial, prosecutor John OHiggins told how Appleby was a charming, manipulative predatory abuser who had targeted one of his victims.

But it was revealed how he had been investigated three times and suspended on one occasion but no charges were brought.

Mr OHiggins added that Appleby had even been caught by a caretaker with a young girl and reported to the authorities.

The judge told Appleby that his actions had had a devastating effect on his victims both of whom had contemplated suicide.

He told the ex-teacher: You have by your own actions destroyed your career and your vocation.

A man who raped a 12-year-old girl he had groomed on social media has been jailed for eight years. Oscar Fitzgerald, 26, from Lowestoft, Suffolk, arranged online to meet his victim and then drove her to his house. The girl was reported missing by her mother soon after and police began searches. She was found after texting her mother. Police said Fitzgerald, who was jailed at Norwich Crown Court on Friday, was a "dangerous sexual offender". Fitzgerald, who had lived at Church Road, had pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to three counts of raping a girl under 13. Fitzgerald had made contact with the girl, from west Suffolk, on the same day she went missing last September and he was aware she was just 12, police said. 'Courage of victim' The victim told officers she had arrived at a house and was told to go upstairs, where she was then raped, despite telling him to stop. She texted her mother as she was walking home, after being dropped off at a bus-stop. Fitzgerald was arrested later at his home after the girl gave police his first name, the colour of his car, his phone number and described the two-bedroom house. Det Con Stephen Clarke, of Suffolk police, said he wanted to "commend the courage of the victim" who was able to give an "immediate detailed account". "It was this prompt action that led officers being able to identify and detain Fitzgerald. "We have been able to remove a dangerous sexual offender from the street," he said. Fitzgerald has been put on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.

A vile rapist who bit his terrified victim all over her body has been caged for seven years.

Savage Dan Hardy left the woman with bruises and bite marks on her face and body during a horrifying two-hour ordeal.

The 21-year-old sex beast launched the terrifying attack on the woman, in her 20s, in 2014.

In the early hours of a November morning fiend Hardy raped the woman at a flat in Buckingham, Bucks.

A spokesman for Thames Valley police said: "On November 29 2014 between 4am and 6am Dan Hardy raped the victim, a woman in her 20s, during a two hour ordeal at a flat at an address in Buckingham.

"The victim sustained bruising and bite marks all over her body and face."

Detective Constable Michele Weston said: "This was an horrific ordeal for the victim in this case, and she has shown nothing but courage throughout this whole process."I hope now she will be able to move forward with her life now that justice has been served."

Hardy, of Freemans Way, Greens Norton, Northants., admitted the offence when appearing before Judge Justin Cole at Amersham Crown Court.

He was jailed for seven years and was placed on the Sex Offender's Register for life.
