Former Ministry of Defence worker moaned on a sick dark web chat room that lockdown stopped him looking at schoolchildren on his way to work.

Phillip Nutt complained on ‘PedoPub’ that working from home stopped his walks past schools and hindered his access to kids.

The 53-year-old used his IT skills to find, download and hide child abuse images picked up on the dark web, including rape and torture videos of babies.

In one chat with another ‘PedoPub’ user, Nutt described how he gained children's trust and concealed the disturbing content he accessed.

He said: “I have everything secured and no one can see unless I leave it unlocked by accident.

“I have a false camera storage as well so if someone asks to see my photos it shows normal people photos. The good ones are hidden.”

In another chatroom conversation, Nutt discussed his frustration with the lack of access to children during lockdown.

He wrote: “I usually walk past a school on the way to work and I can’t even do that!”

Nutt added: “I am of the view that you have to be so careful and disguise your true self….Any little ones around me I treat as friends and gain their confidence.”

When police raided his home in Horfield, Bristol, officers found nearly 300 indecent images and videos on his phone and computers.

Cops also discovered cloud-based accounts overseas that hosted 18,641 files across 445 folders, where Nutt allowed videos to be accessed by other paedophiles.

One folder labelled ‘Incest’ contained hundreds of indecent videos of children, some in the most serious category, police said.

Some of the videos lasted up to two hours and showed the torture and rape of babies and young children, the National Crime Agency said.

Digital forensic analysis found Nutt regularly went onto the dark web and had a secure image storage facility on his phone disguised as a calculator.

He was careful to hide his tracks and described having ‘a scare’ when pictures accidentally transferred onto his main hard drive, the NCA said.

NCA officers arrested Nutt at a holiday home in Cornwall last year.

At Bristol Crown Court yesterday (Thurs), Nutt was jailed for 16 months after pleading guilty to possessing, making and distributing indecent images at an earlier hearing.

Derek Evans, NCA senior investigating officer, said Nutt used sophisticated methods to hide his crimes.

He added: “The conviction of Nutt serves as a warning to all - that we will work with partners across the globe to safeguard children and bring offenders before the court.

“This investigation identified the horrendous rape of babies and very young children, which was being distributed by Nutt, who attempted to conceal his methods through sophisticated means and his knowledge of IT systems.

“For as long as the demand for this material remains in depraved people like Nutt, it will continue to be supplied.

“This investigation has broken part of that cycle and the NCA have succeeded in disrupting someone who posed a significant threat to children.”

William Adams was branded a 'predatory paedophile' by police after he was jailed for life A paedophile rapist serving a life sentence for his horrific crimes has been convicted of more sick offences. William Adams was locked up in 2007 for a sickening campaign of rape against a 12-year-old girl in Liverpool. This week he was handed a further three years for historical sex abuse in Northern Ireland in the 1980s. The case was just the latest prosecution of Adams for sex offences against children. The 54-year-old served seven years in jail for the rape of a schoolgirl in Ireland before travelling to Merseyside in 2005, just days after his release from prison. Almost as soon as he arrived in Liverpool he befriended his next victim, lavishing her with gifts and taking her family on a three week holiday to Blackpool - funded by Adams' Catholic priest lover. Liverpool Crown Court heard Adams raped his victim every night of that trip. Adams, then of Meadow Hey, Bootle, pleaded guilty to five charges of raping the girl between May and November 2005. He was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of seven-and-a-half years before he could apply for parole. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Lol Forrest, of Merseyside Police, said: We feel Adams is a predatory paedophile who used his charm to gain access to a vulnerable member of society. I hope that his victim and her family can take some comfort from the fact that he will be in prison for a long time. Adams remained in jail and was transferred to Northern Ireland to face further sexual offence allegations dating back to the early 1980s. He was found guilty of historic sex offences linked to his time at a County Down training and care centre earlier this year and handed the three year term at Belfast Crown Court on Tuesday, the Belfast Telegraph and Irish News reported.

A CONVICTED child snatcher who took advantage of a sleeping woman at a party has been jailed.

Rodney Hart, 33, who was convicted by Oxford jurors of sexual assault last month, was said on Friday to still not accept his guilt – although, paradoxically, did accept the finding of the jury.

His defence barrister, Richard Paton-Philip, asked the judge to consider imposing a suspended sentence.

Hart, who was jailed for a year in 2018 for child abduction, had abstained from drugs and alcohol, had been receiving treatment for mental health issues and had expressed limited remorse, Oxford Crown Court heard.

Mr Paton-Philip said: “He’s sorry he’s had this impact and understandable impact on her wellbeing.”

Jailing him for nine months, Judge Maria Lamb described the assault, which took place at a home in a west Oxfordshire village almost four years ago, as despicable and disgusting.

“On July 2, 2017, your victim – for victim she was – had gone to the gathering at the home of a friend and you had gone along to that gathering,” she said.

“You met and spoke to her briefly during the course of the evening and to be fair to you, you accept nothing in the encounter you had with her, brief as it was, could have given you any sign she was remotely interested in you.

“You ended up in the sitting room where she fell asleep on the sofa and I am clear in my own mind this was simply because of the lateness of the hour and not because of any other reason.

“And you took advantage of the situation to touch her.”

Hart had been caught touching the woman by a friend of the victim. He later claimed the man had lied about what he saw because the pair had argued earlier in the evening. Those claims were not substantiated.

Judge Lamb said: “You don’t accept what you have done amounts to the offence of which you were convicted. In so far as you say you are prepared to work with the probation service I wonder if that is not a matter of pragmatism and convenience.”

Hart, of Church Crescent, St Albans, was found guilty of sexual assault at Oxford Crown Court in May.

In 2018, he was given 12 months for taking a 14-year-old child without lawful authority in Swindon. He denied performing a sex act in the presence of a child and the charges were not pursued by prosecutors.

A RUTHLESS paedophile who raped a girl and subjected her to other sexual assaults has been locked away for 11 years. Fratton predator Daniel Cross, 22, left the girl psychologically damaged after taking gross advantage of her. Cross, of Samuel Road, was jailed at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday. The child-groomer was locked up for a string of offences against a girl aged under the age of 13. These included rape, attempted rape, two counts of sexual assault, inciting a girl to engage in sex, and possessing three indecent category C images of the girl. In the victims statement read out to court, the girl said she now struggled with every day life. The girl said the episode had a severe impact on her schooling and personal life as she became withdrawn. She said: I find it really hard to trust anyone now. It makes me wonder if people are telling the truth and mean what they say. This has made making new friendships and relationships really hard. Im anxious around men now. If I find myself alone with a man I find myself trying to get out of the situation. It makes me feel unsafe. The victims mum said she had been left struggling to cope after the bombshell discovery of what Cross had done to her daughter. What he did haunts me to this day, she said. It has had a catastrophic effect on my health both physically and mentally. I feel like its affecting every aspect of my life. It has been truly devastating. I have been on a rollercoaster of emotions with shock the first emotion, which was crippling. I was unable to function. I did not know how to be a mum any more...and this was one thing I had always considered to be natural at. The mum went on to say she was consumed by harrowing guilt after failing her daughter. I knew I could never give her innocence back. My baby girl had been broken and I didnt know how to fix her, she said. She added: I do not think I will ever be able to get over this. I really need the closure of justice. Judge Timothy Mousley QC then served up justice on Cross who he called a groomer and someone who had limited insight into his offending which had caused serious psychological harm on the girl. You took gross advantage of her, he said. After being dumped behind bars for 11 years - which Cross will have to serve at least two-thirds of - the defendant was also told he will be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for the rest of his life. He will also have to maintain in regular contact with police when he is released back into society.

A Grimsby paedophile pulled out a knife on police officers and said his life was ruined when he turned up at Grimsby Railway Station expecting to meet a woman for sex.

James Rippington, 28, pulled out a knife when officers approached him at Grimsby Railway Station and then turned aggressive towards the officers.

Ian Way, prosecuting, told Lincoln Crown Court Rippington had been tracked by two different groups of paedophile hunters as a result of his activities online.

A member of one of the groups posed as a 20-year-old woman and successfully managed to obtain Rippington’s true identity.

She set up a meeting with Rippington and arranged for police to be there.

Mr Way said “She alerted the police to be at the scene to effect his arrest.

“The arrangement was made to meet at Grimsby Railway Station on January 27, 2019. The defendant was led to believe this would be a liaison where they would have sex.

“At 5.40pm a number of police officers attended Grimsby Railway Station and saw the defendant standing near to a pub. He was followed and approached and produced a knife.

“He was told to let the knife go. He did and was detained. He was not compliant, shouting at officers saying they had "ruined his life."

"He said he wished he had stabbed them when he had the chance. He was arrested and was spitting at officers as he was taken to the van.”

Mr Way said that earlier in the month Rippington had contacted a nine-year-old girl from Louth over Instagram claiming he was a 12-year-old called Tom, who lived in Lincoln.

He asked her to send him indecent photos of herself but she showed his messages to her mother and police were contacted.

As police were investigating, Rippington also attracted the attention of a group of paedophile hunters.

One of the group set up a decoy account claiming to be a 14-year-old girl and was contacted by Rippington. This time he claimed to be 13. He again asked for her to send indecent photos.

As a result a different group of paedophile hunters were involved with one of their members posing as a 20 year old woman from Scunthorpe in an effort to identify Rippington.

Mr Way said that following his arrest Rippington’s mobile phone was checked and police found 94 indecent images of children on it.

When Rippington was interviewed he denied he had any sexual interest in children.

Rippington, 28, formerly of Grimsby but now of George Street, Mansfield, admitted offences of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity and two charges of possession of indecent images of a child.

The offences all occurred in January 2019. He was jailed for three years and seven months.

He was placed on the sex offenders register for life and given an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

He was dealt with at an earlier hearing by Humber Magistrates for possession of a bladed article and two charges of assaulting an emergency worker as a result of the incident surrounding his arrest.

He received a suspended jail sentence on January 29, 2019 for those matters.

Jeffrey Hickey has been assessed as posing a high danger to women A serial sex offender was jailed after historic offences came to light. Jeffrey Hickey, 41, appeared by video link from prison for sentencing at Liverpool Crown Court. He was convicted last week after a trial of two counts of rape and one of indecent assault. His victim was just 13 years old at the time the offences were committed in the mid-1990s, while he was 16 years old. The court heard Hickey forced himself on the victim. A personal impact statement on behalf of the victim was read out by Charlotte Kenny, prosecuting, who said: "Prior to these assaults, she had a happy, outgoing childhood, with aspirations to go into performance as a singer. "In the weeks that followed she said she felt alone, scared, disgusted and frightened, and didn't know what to do. "It had a serious impact on her education and subsequent employment opportunities. "She became isolated and began drinking alcohol heavily to try to forget what happened to her and find relief from the nightmare she was having every day." The ordeal was brought back to her around 10 years ago when she read in the ECHO that Hickey had been convicted of a sexual assault, but it was 2018 before she brought her own experiences to the attention of police. Miss Kenny said: "She felt angry the defendant was still free and able to assault other women." The victim said that when she finally reported the crimes she had suffered at the hands of Hickey to police it felt "like a huge ton of bricks had been lifted from her." The court heard that since the offences were committed in the 1990s, Hickey had had a long subsequent history of violent sexual offences, and had been more or less constantly in prison since 2008 as he was assessed as posing a high danger to women. His victims ranged from an elderly resident in a nursing home, to lone female students returning home. On one occasion, he climbed up a drainpipe and entered a house through an open window to carry out an assault. The offences had occurred while Hickey had been set free from prison after convincing the parole board he no longer posed a danger to women. Jonathan Duffy, defending, said Hickey now "accepted his guilt" over the historic rape offences, after initially claiming he had no recollection of them. Mr Duffy said: "He has already served very long sentences of imprisonment. His principal mitigation is that at the time he committed these offences, he was 16 years old." The Recorder, Tom Gilbart, told Hickey: "It took many years for the victim to report these matters to police. "She has said you stole her childhood and just hearing your name makes her feel physically sick. "It should be a matter of great shame to you that you had this effect on another human being. "These were abhorrent offences and you used force to subject your victim to rape and indecent assault to satisfy your lust and exercise control on her." Mr Gilbart sentenced Hickey to a total of 11 years in prison, of which he must serve two-thirds before he is considered for release.

A pervert who travelled to Liverpool to meet a 14-year-old said he wanted to have sex with her in a McDonald's toilet.

In messages to the 'girl' Mark Needham said he wanted her to wear a short skirt for "easier access" to her underwear.

The 34-year-old sent pictures of his genitalia and pornographic videos of himself telling the girl he wanted to have sex with a "schoolgirl".

But he was really talking to a member of a paedophile hunter group, and was duped into meeting the 'girl' at Liverpool Lime Street Station where he was arrested.

Cheryl Mottram, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown Court, said a member of the 'paedophile hunter group' called "N-force for Justice" was posing as a 14-year-old girl called Darcy on an adult chat site called "Hi".

Needham began speaking to the 'girl', who told him she was 14 and "still at school".

Ms Mottram said the "chat continued and became increasingly sexual in nature".

Needham first sent a photo of himself and after receiving a picture of the fake girl he said "I love your t**s, your body is amazing" and told her "I want to f*** a schoolgirl".

He asked the 'girl' to perform a sex act on herself and when he was told she was with a friend suggested they had a "threesome".

Ms Mottram said Needham sent "pornographic videos of himself" and sent photos of his genitalia.

He arranged to meet her on October 8 but said he'd changed his mind "due to her age".

On December 12 the paedophile hunter group said the girl was "coming to Liverpool for the day".

Needham agreed to meet her and when asked what they would be doing he told the '14-year-old' "s****ing you in Maccies toilet LOL".

Members of the group travelled to Liverpool Lime Street Station and when one woman pretended to be 'Darcy' Needham gave her a hug before they detained him and called police.

He told the group he had "planned to talk to her and take her to a hotel room" and he had "asked her if she would wear a short dress as it would 'be easier to get access to her knickers'".

He also told the group "I have got no excuse for what I've done".

In a police interview he confirmed he used chatrooms to talk to women and "liked to talk dirty to them" and "liked uniforms".

He told police "it was the uniform that was the fantasy, not the age of the girl".

The offences took place between November 24, 2017 and December 11 of the same year, prompting Judge David Aubrey, QC, to question why it took so long to come to court when he admitted the offences in a police interview.

Ms Mottram said there were various "requests" from police but added "what has been requested has not perhaps been necessary".

Needham was charged with the offences in January this year.

The court heard Needham has previous convictions but "nothing of a sexual nature" and "nothing since 2013".

Helen Longworth, defending, urged the judge to suspend any custodial sentence.

She said: "He is very sorry for what he has done and is seeking to understand why he has done it."

Ms Longworth said: "The most significant feature really is the delay."

She said Needham has "lived with this issue hanging over him" for the three years and during that time has not committed further offences.

Needham, of Windrows, Skelmersdale, admitted attempting to incite a girl into sexual activity, attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child to look at an image of sexual activity.

Judge Aubrey said the delay in the case was "unreasonable in the extreme" and "inexcusable" as Needham had admitted the offences in a police interview.

He took into account Needham had been in "no trouble whatsoever" since the offences had taken place.

Despite the mitigating features the judge said: "The appropriate punishment can only be achieved by a sentence of immediate custody."

Judge Aubrey explained the sentence would have been three years, which was reduced to two years to reflect his guilty plea and reduced again by another year to reflect the delay.

As a result, Needham was jailed for one year.

He was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention order for the same period.

Following the sentence Judge Aubrey said the delay was "more than unsatisfactory, it was unnecessary" adding had it not been for the delay the sentence "would have been considerably longer".

A London man has been sentenced to a total of eleven years and three months imprisonment for sexual exploitation offences against a 13-year-old Brighton girl, and of separately attempting to meet a girl for sexual purposes.

Kerien Rudland, 24, unemployed, of Alwold Crescent, Eltham, London, SE12, was sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on Friday 25 June.

He had pleaded guilty at Brighton Crown Court on 27 November 2019 to to inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, meeting a child following sexual grooming and two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child.

He pleaded not guilty to two offences, of abduction and sexual assault, and these were directed to lay on the court file without being proceeded with.

He was also convicted on 5 December after a separate trial at the same court of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to engage in sexual communications with a girl under 16, and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.

These offences related to his engagement online from his family address in Hull, with someone online who was pretending to be a 13-year-old girl. He was arrested on suspicion of that offence by Humberside Police in August 2018.

The language used by Rudland when communicating with the Brighton girl on Facebook were very similar to those sent to the 'decoy' account.

Rudland will be a registered sex offender for ?life and ???was given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) severely restricting his access to children and computers until further court notice.

The sexual exploitation prosecution, authorised by the CPS, followed an investigation by officers from the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit into a report received on Sunday evening (10 February).

Detective Sergeant Matt Stevens said; "Rudland met the girl on the Internet, groomed her online, met her in Brighton on Sunday 10 February 2019 and had sexual activity with her on the beach in Brighton and on a train with her on the way back to London. She was reported missing by her family, and when we checked her PlayStation we found recent contact between them via Facebook.

"As a result of our intensive enquiries, working with our colleagues in the Metropolitan Police, they were located in London at his mother's address where he was living, by 11am the following morning and he was arrested.

"The girl was safe and has been receiving support from our specialist officers and independent agencies since.

"We also received valuable assistance from both Humberside Police and British Transport Police.

"Kerien Rudland is without doubt a serious danger to children. He began his offending online, quickly progressing to contact sexual offending with a child. Sussex Police Safeguarding Investigation Units work tirelessly to safeguard children, prosecute offenders and enable them to be removed from society.

Simon Dickinson commented 'nice' after being sent a video of a child being raped A paedophile swapped videos of children being raped in a sickening group chat called 'TeenTinyGirl'. In the perverted chat on Kik Messenger Simon Dickinson and other paedophiles would comment on child sex abuse videos calling them "sexy". The 44-year-old's disgusting behaviour was revealed after he used Snapchat to share pictures of child sex abuse, and police were able to trace his IP address. After a raid the full extent of his criminal content was uncovered and police found that he had also sent links to videos of child rape to seven other people from his computer. Derek Jones, prosecuting today at Liverpool Crown Court, said Merseyside Police received intelligence that a "user of the Snapchat social media app uploaded indecent images". Officers were able to track the IP address from the account to Dickinson's address, where they arrested him on November 24 last year when he initially denied any involvement. Mr Jones said there were 58 images of child rape, eight of which were videos and 266 other images of child sex abuse, 15 of which were videos. The court heard the children in the videos were between the ages of six and 10. Dickinson was part of a group chat on Kik Messenger called 'TeenTinyGirl' in which the members would share sickening videos and images of children being raped. Comments in the group included "nice", "sexy" and "want to trade". Mr Jones said Dickinson commented "nice" after a video of a child being raped was shared in the group. Dickinson had also sent links to videos of children being raped to seven other people "shortly before the arrest". Mr Jones said: "Recipients of those links seemed to indicate they had received them and comments put down showed their approval of the images." The sick paedophile had shared 75 child rape videos and 81 videos of other forms of child sex abuse as well as one still image of an adult woman being raped. Dickinson has two previous, unrelated, convictions involving drugs and alcohol from 2002 and 2008. Stuart Mills, defending, urged the judge to suspend any custodial sentence. Referring to Dickinson's denial of any sexual interest in children, which is cited in a probation report, he said: "The defendant is someone who is prepared to engage with the service and the probation service is perhaps the best placed organisation to deal with these difficulties." He said: "He is frankly mortified, devastated and broken by what he has done." Mr Mills said Dickinson was "isolated and lonely" and lives alone. He said: "He has few friends and resorted to chat applications on his telephone which led to this offending." Mr Mills said if he was jailed "he will lose his job" and it would affect his relationship with his children. Dickinson, of Dwerryhouse Lane, West Derby, admitted three counts of making indecent images of children, possession of indecent images of children, possession of an extreme pornographic image, two counts of distributing indecent images of children and possession of indecent photographs of children for show. Judge David Aubrey, QC, sentencing, said: "Notwithstanding the fact you may be an isolated and lonely man you were immersed in sexual depravity concerning children." The judge said that despite Dickinson's denials he was "obtaining sexual gratification" from the indecent images. Judge Aubrey said: "Each and every image that you were in possession of to which I have had made reference represented the abuse of a child." The judge said he was "perpetuating the abuse of such children". Judge Aubrey said: "You were actively involved, immersed, in that network specifically designed to facilitate the communication of the sharing of such images of children and that in my judgement is a serious aggravating factor." Dickinson was jailed for two years and six months. He was put on the Sex Offenders Register for life and ordered to adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period.

Cloud Chunga, 47, met the child after grooming her in a series of online messages including sending indecent images of himself.

A girl skipped school to have unprotected sex with a middle-aged man unaware that he was HIV positive, a court heard.

Cloud Chunga kept his medical status a secret and the 15-year-old only found out afterwards.

She was then put through the trauma and anxiety of undergoing tests to see if she had contracted the virus.

Chunga, a 47-year-old asylum seeker, of no fixed address in Leicester, pleaded guilty to sexual communication with a child under 16, sexual activity with a child, meeting her following grooming and taking indecent photographs of the girl, at the end of last year.

Richard Thatcher, prosecuting, said the girl met the defendant in passing, but some time later he contacted her online to embark on sexualised private conversations via a social media site.

The prosecutor said: "The defendant told her he could not wait to have sex with her and until she was 18 so he could marry her."

They arranged to meet and the girl skipped school to see him in Leicester, still wearing her uniform.

He then took her to a flat in the Beaumont Leys area where they had unprotected sexual intercourse.

Afterwards, Chunga gave her Belgian chocolate biscuits and some perfume.

He also took photographs of her topless and of her in bed with him, which the police later found on his mobile phone.

Officers went to the victim's home after being alerted about her unexplained absence from school and discovered what had happened.

Chunga was arrested in January and "disclosed that he was HIV positive," said Mr Thatcher.

The victim was traumatized and unfairly "blamed herself."

In an impact statement read out, the girl was described feeling angry, ashamed and embarrassed, with low self-confidence.

She endured several weeks of anxious waiting, before learning she had tested negative for HIV, but stated: "I can't believe someone would be so selfish, that someone would risk giving that to someone else."

Clare Dowse, mitigating, said: "He's been in the UK since 2001, initially to study, and later applied as a refugee to remain in the country and his status is still unresolved.

"He was without a permanent residence at the time of the offences.

"He'd been staying with people he knew, relying on the church and friends for support.

"The offences were an aberration."

Judge Robert Brown said: "The pre-sentence report says he struggles to understand how she is a victim, despite knowing she was a vulnerable child."

He added: "He had unprotected sex with a 15-year-old girl knowing he was HIV positive, without divulging that to her and he presents a high risk of harm to young girls."

"It matters not at all that she appears to have consented to sexual activity, the point is that she was underage, vulnerable and you took advantage of her."

Chunga was jailed for six years, with an additional four year licence period.

He will have to serve a minimum of two thirds of the custodial term, before being considered for release.

Chunga was placed on an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will be on a sex offender register for life.

Afterwards, investigating officer, Detective Constable Darren Etteridge, said: "Despite knowing the victim was 15-years-old, Chunga continued to groom and engage in sexual activity with her, exploiting her vulnerability.

"The wealth of evidence against him left him with little choice but to plead guilty and while this has relieved the victim of having to give evidence at court, her experience with Chunga still remains with her.

"Her engagement with us has been critical in bringing the case to a successful conclusion and she continues to be a very brave young girl who I hope can put what happened behind her."

A serial paedophile with a history of online sexual offending was caught with a secret tablet computer in his room, a court has heard.

Another resident at the hostel where Aithan Jones was living had sold him the device, which he had not told the police about.

The 25-year-old has a history of trying to sexually groom children online and of breaching court orders designed to try to manage his behaviour.

A judge at Swansea Crown Court told the defendant that if he continued offending he was likely to be classified as a dangerous offender and would face significantly longer sentences.

Hannah George, prosecuting, said in 2020 Jones was found to be breaching a sexual harm prevention order by using a number of Facebook profiles to contact a young boy and by attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison at Cardiff Crown Court and upon his release was sent to live in an approved hostel in Swansea.

The court heard that on June 7 this year a search was made of Jones' room which uncovered a tablet device he had not informed the police about. The court heard that another resident at the hostel had sold it to him for 60 though was yet to receive payment for it. The tablet had a sim card in it and was internet-enabled.

Aithan Philip Jones, of The Strand, Swansea, admitted breaching a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO. He has four previous convictions for 10 offences five of which are sexual offences.

Judge Geraint Walters said only a sentence of immediate custody was appropriate. He said in his view the last sentence Jones had been given was too lenient and in his view should have been twice the length. He warned the defendant that if he continued offending the time would come when he would be classified as a dangerous offender.

Giving the defendant the required one-third discount for his guilty plea the judge sentenced him to 12 months in prison for breaching the SHPO. Jones would ordinarily serve up to half that period in custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder in the community however the court heard he has been recalled to prison to serve the remainder of the 22-month sentence imposed in 2020 and is not not be released from that term until May 2022. The judge said he did not have the power to make the new sentence run consecutively with the existing term of imprisonment, meaning the new sentence will not prolong Jones' period behind bars.

A Luton paedophile attempted to engage in sexual communication with two girls who he believed to be 12 and 13 years old.

Mohammed Hussain, 38, of Ivy Road in Luton, Bedfordshire started an online chat with the "girls" and sent a number of sexually explicit messages and pornographic images and videos to them.

He was arrested by police officers in July 2020 after his actions were reported.

After a six-day trial in April 2021 Hussain was found guilty of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act.

He was sentenced to three years imprisonment at Luton Crown Court on Thursday, June 17.

Investigation officer Emma Shipton, from Bedfordshire Police's Internet Child Abuse Investigation Team, said: "Child sexual abuse will not be tolerated in Bedfordshire and we’re committed to tackling offenders to prevent them from causing further harm, as well as providing support and justice to victims.

"I am pleased that Hussain has received a custodial sentence and that there were no victims involved on this occasion.

"This case is a reminder of how predators use different forms of social media, web chats and online forums to target victims."

She added: "We would encourage parents and guardians to actively educate your children about the dangers of social media and about online safety, make sure that they feel comfortable in speaking about anything they see online which makes them feel uncomfortable.

"This also includes not talking to anyone who they don’t know in real life, not sharing any personal information, and keeping privacy settings as high as possible."

A 74-year-old man has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after being found guilty of 19 non-recent sexual offences against three children.

John Hewitt, of Preston, Hull was found guilty at Grimsby Crown Court today (22 June 2021) of eight counts of rape, nine counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child.

The charges were brought as part of an investigation into offences which took place during the 1980s in the Hull and Hessle area against three children aged between 13 and 16 years old at the time of the offences.

Detective Superintendent Phil Gadd investigating said: Hewitts actions against three vulnerable children were sickening and incomprehensible. Actions which have had a lasting impact on the victims throughout their lives.

I want to thank the victims and witnesses and commend them for their bravery and perseverance throughout the investigative process. They have displayed dignity and courage throughout this incredibly difficult time as their patience and understanding has been invaluable whilst we built a strong case against Hewitt.

They have had had to carry the trauma of his criminal actions since their childhood and I sincerely hope that they are now able to feel some sense of justice has been achieved and they can look to hopefully move forward knowing he is in prison where he belongs.

I also wish to thank the dedicated investigation team, not least Detective Sergeant Samantha Allen and Detective Constable Stephen Jewell who have shown persistence and commitment throughout the lengthy and difficult investigation.

On passing sentence Judge Bury commented that Mr Hewitt is now 74 years old and in the twilight of his years and has shown no sympathy throughout the trial, it has taken forty years for his chickens to come home to roost. If he were to die in prison serving this sentence then so be it.

'HornyScouser78' was arrested outside B&M after buying three Kinder Eggs for a 13-year-old he called 'well fit' A paedophile bought Kinder Eggs to give to a "girl" he was planning to meet at McDonald's. Keiran Alderton was arrested outside B&M in Hunts Cross after talking online to what he thought was a 13-year-old girl, but she was actually an undercover police officer. The 31-year-old, under the username 'HornyScouser78', told the girl he was "going to kiss the face off her" and "kissing might lead to more". After he was arrested police discovered sickening child sex abuse images of children on his iPhone, including pictures of children being raped. Cheryl Mottram, prosecuting today at Liverpool Crown Court, said the decoy profile of a 13-year-old girl, was set up by police on Kik Messenger. Ms Mottram said: "On June 5 on that application she was contacted by 'HornyScouser78'". After being told the 'girl' was 13-years of age Alderton "asked for details about her" and "asked if she 'liked older blokes'". Ms Mottram said Alderton then "sent an image of himself in a red Liverpool t-shirt". She said he informed the "girl" he was 30 years of age and said it was a 'shame' she wasn't older". Alderton asked for a photo and was sent a picture of a girl, to which he replied she was "well fit with nice lips and eyes". Ms Mottram said: "He suggested meeting up and asked what they would do when they met up and said 'maybe a little kiss'." She said they then arranged to meet at McDonald's on June 10, 2020, at 11am. The undercover police officer asked Alderton to bring Kinder Eggs and Alderton said he was "going to kiss the face off her" and "kissing might lead to more". Alderton was arrested "at the retail park outside a B&M store where he had been to buy her Kinder Eggs". After his arrest officers found 347 indecent pictures of children on his iPhone, including 35 of the most serious category, which involved images of children being raped. Ms Mottram said the youngest child in the images was five-years-old. Mike Hagerty, defending, urged the judge to suspend any custodial sentence stressing Alderton had admitted the offences at the earliest opportunity and didn't have any previous convictions. Mr Hagerty said the offences took place against "the background of a breakdown in the defendant's long term relationship with the mother of his two sons". He said Alderton has moved back in with his mum and has only been able to see his children once under supervision as a result of the proceedings. He said Alderton has also been unable to see his brother "who has cerebral palsy and who he was a carer for". Mr Hagerty said Alderton has "lost his job of 10 years working as a carer" and lost his home. Mr Hagerty said he had provided "no real explanation to why he acted in the way he did" and he "denies any sexual interest in children". He added Alderton, who has no previous convictions, had shown "shame", "regret" and "remorse" and the judge confirmed the defendant had "suffered from anxiety and depression". Alderton, of Feltwell Road, Anfield, admitted attempting sexual communication with a child, attempting to meet a child after sexual grooming, three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child and possession of indecent images of children. Judge Anil Murray, sentencing, said: "You travelled in an effort to meet what you thought was a child, that went beyond looking at images." Determining whether the prison sentence could be suspended Judge Murray explained a pre sentence report deemed him a "high risk of serious harm to children should you reoffend". The judge said: "I ask whether you present a risk to the public, the answer is yes." Judge Murray added: "There are significant concerns about your sexual preoccupation and level of denial." The judge jailed Alderton for two years and two months. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and told to adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period.

A "callous and selfish" Bedford man who pleaded guilty to having sex with a child has been jailed for five years.

Stuart Tomey, 36, committed a number of sexual offences against a teenage girl between April and November 2020.

He was arrested by Bedfordshire Police in December after the victim came forward to report on his actions.

Detectives praised the bravery of the teenage girl, who said in a victim statement: "The impact that this has had on me affects me every day.

"I really struggled with accepting that I was a victim and blamed myself for what happened, but as the time has gone on I learned that this was not my fault."

Tomey, of Rutland Road, Bedford, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child. He was sentenced on June 16 to 57 months for each offence, which will run concurrently.

He received a further three months for breaching his bail conditions, totalling five years in prison.

Detective Constable Rebecca Goodman, from Bedfordshire Police's Protecting Vulnerable People team, which investigated the offences, said: "Tomey's selfish and callous offending has resulted in him receiving a lengthy prison sentence."

She added: "Our force takes reports of sexual offences extremely seriously and we are committed to protecting vulnerable people in our county, and especially in cases which involve children.

"This comes after a second court case concluded this month and resulted in a lengthy prison sentence for child sex offences.

"Hopefully this will encourage further victims of such offences to come forward, no matter when it happened. We will believe you and investigate your report, and we will work with our partner agencies to find the right support for you."

In a statement, Bedfordshire Police said that victims of rape and sexual assault can receive support and guidance from the force and partner agencies, including the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), as well as support through the criminal investigation process.
