A dangerous, and predatory Ipswich man with a string of convictions for child sex offences has been jailed for 40 months after admitting sending a naked picture of himself to an undercover police officer posing as a 14-year-old boy.

Jailing 52-year-old Dean Carey, Judge Richard Kelly, described him as a dangerous offender with an entrenched pattern of predatory behaviour towards children.

Carey, of Foxhall Road, Ipswich, admitted attempted sexual communication with a child and attempted breach of a sexual harm prevention order.

In addition to being jailed he was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders' register.

The court heard that Careys previous convictions included making indecent images of children in 2016 and breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

In 2020 he was jailed for four years with an extended licence period of six years for inciting a male under 16 to engage in sexual activity, sexual communication with a child and possessing indecent images of children.

The court heard he was released from custody in September last year, just four months before his latest offending. Following his arrest he was recalled to prison with a release date of 2029.

Ipswich Crown Court heard on Friday ( May 17) that Carey, formerly of Halstead, Essex, had made contact with an undercover police officer posing as a 14-year-old boy on Grindr earlier this year.

Carey had suggested moving their chat to WhatsApp and had then ended contact with the boy saying: I would if I could, but I cant. Sorry.

Several weeks later Carey had made contact with the undercover police officer posing as the boy again and the conversation had quickly turned sexual.

Carey had sent the boy a naked picture of himself and asked him to send him a picture of him in his underwear and school uniform.

He had also discussed meeting up with the boy, but no plans were made.

A man who previously escaped a jail sentence after he was caught performing a sex act over children’s clothing has been found storing a horror collection of child abuse images on his phone.

Martin Lipscombe began downloading disgusting pictures and videos of children as young as four years old being sexually abused to his mobile just 15 months after his last sentence.
 
Edinburgh Sheriff Court was told Lipscombe possessed more than 4000 images and videos depicting youngsters being raped while “blindfolded” and with their “limbs bound”. 

The court heard the 33-year-old sales assistant, from the capital’s Leith area, had also sent pictures of a young girl during sordid online chats with a fellow pervert.

He appeared in the dock at the capital court on Thursday where he pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing indecent images of children between November 2022 and January last year.
Lipscombe avoided custody three years ago after he was caught with disgusting videos of him performing a solo sex act over children’s clothing.

Vile Lipscombe also took pictures of a 12-year-old girl and her clothing hanging on a washing line and sent the images to an unknown male.

He also admitted to discussing having the child watch him while he masturbated over her clothing during the sick online conversations with the male.
He was placed on the Sex Offenders Register and a supervision order for two years and banned from entering the grounds of schools, nurseries and children’s playparks.

This week prosecutor Chelsea Martin said police received intelligence Lipscombe was accessing child abuse images and turned up at his home at around 8am on January 6 last year.

The court was told the sicko was at home with his grandmother and he had handed over a mobile phone to officers stating “he knew what this is about”.

Ms Martin said a forensic analysis showed the device held 4335 child abuse images with 591 rated as Category A - the worst end of the scale. The fiscal said there were also 73 videos - 38 at Category A - depicting young children being sexually abused by adults found on the device.

The court was told the victims were “female children aged between four and 15 years of age” and had been subjected to “oral, anal and vaginal and penetration by adult males”.

Ms Martin added: “Some of the pictures depicted the children blindfolded and some had their limbs bound.”

The fiscal said police officers also uncovered chat logs containing around 20,000 messages where Lipscombe had sent “photos of a young female child” to another person.

Lawyer Paul Smith, defending, said his client “is under no illusion to the seriousness of this crime” and said he would reserve his full mitigation to the sentencing hearing.

Sheriff Julius Komorowski placed Lipscombe on the Sex Offenders Register on an interim basis and deferred full sentence for the preparation of social work reports to next month.

Lipscombe pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images of children at his home between November 2, 2022 and January 6 last year.

He also admitted to distributing indecent images of children to others from his home between November 2 and December 28, 2022.

A pervert who made unwelcome sexual comments towards a teenage girl, touched and kissed her, then bought her a sex toy for Christmas that he had gift wrapped.

Neville Tinker was found guilty after a trial at Leeds Crown Court of four counts of sexual assault. The 62-year-old was jailed this week after details of his bizarre behaviour came to light.

It was heard that the girl, who cannot be named, was between the age of 17 and 19 at the time. Sick Tinker would ask her questions about her sex life “from the outset”, the court heard.

He asked her about sex with her boyfriend and made suggestions about sexual positions they should try. Judge Ray Singh told Tinker: “It made her feel uncomfortable and she made it clear she did not wish to pursue such conversations.

“You would show her images of sex toys and suggested that she and her boyfriend use them.”

Then at Christmas, 2017, he bought her the sex toy with attachments and gift wrapped it. The court heard that he would take photos of her and made comments about her underwear.

He encouraged her to sit on his knee, would stroke her bottom and kissed her. When she once mentioned she had a bad back, he told her to lay on the floor. He then unclipped her bra and rubbed her back.

Tinker denied any wrongdoing but was found guilty by the jury after a trial lasting more than a week.

In a victim impact statement, read out by prosecutor Nick Adlington, the victim said she had been left “emotionally broken” and continues to struggle with “overwhelming” panic and anxiety.

Tinker, of Holt Park Approach, Adel, has no previous convictions. Judge Singh jailed him for 33 months.

He told him: “You said you had no sexual interest in her. I’m afraid that is wholly untruthful.

“You still can’t bring yourself to accept your sexual behaviour and deviancy towards her. You have accepted little responsibility.

He said that a probation report into Tinker suggests he continues to be “wholly dismissive” that his actions towards the girl were “sexually motivated”.

Judge Singh continued: “You are victim blaming and I simply do not understand how you find yourself at this late stage to be of that view.”

He was given a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) and a restraining order to keep him sway from the victim for life.

A convicted murderer who killed a pregnant woman in a barbaric sexually-motivated attack was caught trying to meet an underage girl at the Royal Armouries in Leeds after grooming her online.

Norman Bowen-Jones was jailed along with his friend for the brutal slaying of the woman at a flat in Durham in 1996. The pair had fantasised about having sex with her and murdering her. They were given a life sentence and ordered to serve at least 13 years.

Bowen-Jones, who is now 45, was caught out by the paedophile hunter group, Predator Exposure, having contacted several child decoy profiles last year.

Appearing at Leeds Crown Court via video link from HMP Leeds, he was jailed again this afternoon.

Prosecutor Gareth Henderson-Moore said Bowen had made contact with the first profile in July of last year. She told him she was just 14 but he was undeterred and moved the conversation to WhatsApp.

Bowen-Jones, who had been living on Springwell View in Holbeck, sent her pictures of his penis and asked for photos of her. He suggested they meet and travelled to the Royal Armouries, where he was confronted by the hunter group who livestreamed it over the internet.

However, he had also contacted other decoy profiles run by the same group and suggested meeting at Leeds Railway Station, although he did not carry that meeting through.

He admitted attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity, four counts of attempting sexual communication with a child, arranging or facilitating commission of a child sex offence, two offences of attempting to cause a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming and two of making indecent photos of children.

Mitigating, Andrew Stranex said that since his release from prison he was like a “fish out of water”.

He added: “When he went into custody the world was a very different place and was really struggling to find his feet. He was in a city he was not familiar with. He used the internet to make contact with people. He accepts what he did was wrong.”

The judge, Recorder Alex Menary acknowledged Bowen-Jones was “struggling to adjust” after such a long time behind bars. He jailed him for 32 months, but said his life licence will remain in place, meaning he could be returned to prison at any time. after serving his latest sentence.

He was also given a lifelong sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) to curb his internet use and put on the sex offender register for life.

Bowen-Jones and his friend Timothy Dunn were just 17 and 15 respectively when they carried out their horrific murder. They had become friends with 29-year-old Lesley Fox, and frequently visited her at her basement bedsit in Darlington.

They fantasised about having sex with her, then killing her, and went through with the vile plan on October 12, 1996. She was four-months pregnant at the time and had been dead five days before he body was discovered. She had to be identified by dental records.

She had been subjected to a prolonged and violent sexual assault before being strangled by Bowen-Jones who used a piece of rope. The sexual assault continued after she had been killed.

Later arrested, the boys blamed each other for the killing. They were sentenced in November 1997 and deemed “very dangerous” by the presiding judge. They were told to serve a minimum 13 years, which was later cut to 12 years for Bowen-Jones, and 11 years for Dunn.

At the time of the successful appeal, a police advisor had reported that Bowen-Jones was “cold, calculating and ruthless” and he seriously believed he might kill again if released.

A child sex offender who groomed a schoolgirl has been jailed. Police were so worried about Ray Trewern that officers launched an investigation without the victim making a formal complaint.

He met the 12-year-old victim online but the 35-year-old quickly arranged to see her in person. Trewern, of Park Corner, Birmingham, bought the girl gifts and took her shopping.

During one meeting, he sexually assaulted her by kissing her. West Mercia Police said "such was the concern about Trewern", that an investigation was progressed on an evidence-led basis, without the victim providing a formal complaint. He was jailed for two years and three months at Worcester Crown Court on May 16.

Trewern pleaded guilty to sexual communications with a child, meeting a female child under the age of 16 following sexual grooming, sexual assault of a female child under 13 and possession of indecent photographs of a child. He was also made the subject of a ten-year sexual harm prevention order and handed an indefinite restraining order.

Trewyn groomed the girl between October and December 2021. Following the sentencing, Det Const Tarryn Schimmel said: "Trewern’s grooming was such that his victim genuinely believed he had her best intentions at heart when in fact his deception was for his own perverse gain.

"The victim and her family have had to wait a long time to see justice being done and I commend them for their patience and dignity in waiting for this matter to finally be resolved. I hope the sentence helps put some closure on this awful time for them.”

A man has been sentenced to four years in prison for offences involving images of children.

Christopher Cefyn James, 34, of Trym Leaze, Bristol, was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life when he was sentenced at Bristol Crown Court on Thursday.

He admitted one count of voyeurism, two counts of making indecent photographs of children and two counts of distributing indecent photographs of children.

James, who will spend one year on extended licence after his release, was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £120.

The court heard the offences were committed between 2014 and 2023

A prolific sex offender who repeatedly filmed himself carrying out indecent acts across Congleton and Macclesfield has been jailed.

Lewis Spencer appeared at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday 14 May where he was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.

The 23-year-old, of Birch Road, Congleton, was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Spencer had previously pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault, seven counts of exposure and possession of extreme pornography.

The court heard how on Tuesday 26 December 2023; Spencer was due to start his first shift at a fast-food establishment in Macclesfield.

The victim, a 21-year-old woman, also worked at the store. She began taking a stock count at around 5.40pm that day when she noticed Spencer standing close behind her.

The victim had a feeling that Spencer was recording her, but she continued working, assuming it was nothing. She then felt Spencer touch her with something.

She turned around but Spencer apologised and put his phone away.

After their shift ended, the victim told her manager about the incident and how it had made her feel uncomfortable.

The manager checked a CCTV camera in the store which revealed Spencer had been carrying out a sexual act behind the victim, without her knowledge.

During the incident he touched her with his penis while he recorded himself on his mobile phone.

The incident was immediately reported to police and Spencer was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault at his home address on Thursday 28 December 2023.

Following examination of his mobile phone, which was seized upon arrest, officers discovered 17 videos of Spencer committing similar sexual offences against a number of women between Sunday 10 December 2023 and Tuesday 26 December 2023.

All of the videos depicted Spencer carrying out sexual acts near to or behind women of various ages, all of whom appear to be unaware of what he was doing.

Following enquiries, officers identified two women from the videos that had previously worked with Spencer.

Extreme pornography was also recovered from his phone.

He was subsequently charged with four counts of sexual assault, seven accounts of exposure, and one count of extreme pornography.

A registered Kirklees sex offender has been jailed after pleading guilty to breaching a court order and defying a ban preventing him working with children.  

John Noel (63) from Huddersfield was jailed for thee years At Leeds Crown Court today ( Thursday May 16) after admitting breaching the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) imposed on him in June 2023.  

The 63-year old also admitted a breach of a bar offence which he committed by working with children (aged from 5 to 17) as a private Maths, English and Sciences tutor, despite being banned from doing so.  

Noel was arrested by police on 5th February 2024 for concealing a device in breach of his SHPO and for the breach of bar offence, and later charged.  

He pleaded guilty to the offences at an appearance at Leeds Crown Court in April.  

The Huddersfield man had been made subject to his SHPO in June 2023 after he was convicted of making indecent photographs of children and possession of extreme pornography.

A Lincolnshire paedophile and former teaching assistant who used two false names to "persistently harass" a former pupil after being released from prison was today (Thurs) jailed for 21 months.

Simon Hildred, 43, from Navenby, targeted the male victim, now an adult, after being released from a nine year jail sentence for sexually abusing two other young boys.

Lincoln Crown Court heard Hildred sent the victim unsigned Christmas and Valentine's cards during a four month campaign of harassment which began in December last year.

David Eager, prosecuting, told the court Hildred also contacted a Facebook community group which was moderated by the victim's mother and visited the village where the family lived, posing as a photographer.

The court heard Hildred also set up fake Facebook accounts in the name of the victim and his mother, drove past the family's home and visited their local pub.

Mr Eager said the harassment began in December 2023 when Hildred sent an unsigned Christmas card to the victim's work address.

A second unsigned Valentine's card followed in February 2024 but on that occasion Hildred inserted an email address which the victim contacted out of curiosity.

As the Facebook messages developed the victim and his mother realised the same person must be responsible for using two aliases.

Mr Eager said the victim had been taught by Hildred when he was a classroom assistant and realised he must be responsible.

In an impact statement which was read out in court the victim described how he was left terrified to look at his phone and did not feel safe in his own home.

His mother described how she now felt wary of trusting people after previously being heavily involved in her community.

When police went to Hildred's address they found a mobile phone which he was prevented from having by the terms of his previous sentence.

During interview Hildred admitted all the offences and he was re-called to prison to continue serving his sentence from 2013.

Hildred, of Top Farm Avenue, Navenby, admitted three charges of harassment, failing to comply with the Sex Offenders Register by using two false names and breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order by having a mobile phone.

Tom Heath, mitigating for Hildred, said he had rebuilt his life and obtained work in a Branston warehouse after being released from prison in December 2019.

"All this is very strange," Mr Heath admitted.

Passing sentence Judge James House KC told Hildred it was only the detective work of the victim and his mother "which brought this to an end."

Judge House said Hildred had "infiltrated" the family's lives and clearly caused them great distress.

"It is the kind of conduct that eats away at the soul," Judge House remarked.

A restraining order was made which also prohibits Hildred from contacting the victim and his mother.

The court heard Hildred, then of Northfield Road, Ruskington, was jailed for nine years in 2013 after he admitted sexually abusing two young boys and possessing over 27,000 indecent images of children on his computers.

He was also placed under a four year extended licence period which does not expire until May 2026.

At the time of his arrest for those matters Hildred was working as a teaching assistant at a school in the Sleaford area after earlier working at an after school club for the children of service personnel at RAF Cranwell.

He was also involved with a number of youth organisations including the Cub Scouts, the Army Cadets and the St Johns Ambulance Badgers.

A Lincolnshire pensioner has been jailed after he raped and groomed a young girl over an eight-month period. Roger Faulkner, of Donington-on-Bain, appeared on trial at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday, May 10, accused of eight sexual offences against the child.

The 69-year-old of Neve Gardens denied two charges of rape on a child aged under 13 and also pleaded not guilty to six other matters of sexual assault. A jury took less than 90 minutes to find Faulkner guilty of all eight offences.

He groomed his victim with gifts and treats and will now face 17 years behind bars for what the judge described as "disgusting abuse". Faulkner will also have to serve an extended licence period for a year after his release from custody and has been ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

A man sexually groomed a young girl and made her watch a homemade pornographic film of himself, a court has heard. Robert Johnson also sexually abused the child then told her not to tell anyone about what he had done.

The 45-year-old from Port Talbot denied the offences saying the allegations against him were made up but he was convicted at trial at Swansea Crown Court. In a statement read to the court the victim described the devastating emotional and psychological impact of the abuse. Police have praised the bravery of the female in coming forward.

Robert Johnson, aged 45, Fairways, Sandfields, Port Talbot, had previously been convicted by a jury of multiple child sex offences including sexual activity by penetration, causing or inciting a child to watch sexual activity, and inciting sexual activity with a child when he appeared in the dock for sentencing. The defendant was sentenced to 10 years in prison, and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order. Johnson will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.

A man from Stevenage has been sentenced to eight years in prison for multiple non-recent child sexual offences.

Michael Aggabao, aged 51, of Lister Close, was found guilty of six counts of sexual assault, one count of digital penetration and one count of attempted digital penetration following a 10-day trial at St Albans Crown Court in October 2023.

All charges relate to two victims who were under the age of 13 at the time, and occurred between May 2009 and May 2014, and during March 2019.

He was cleared of one count of sexual assault and one count of digital penetration.

For charges against the first victim, Aggabao was jailed for a total of five years with a year on an extended licence, as well as a further nine years to be served concurrently.

For charges against the second victim, Aggabao was sentenced to three years in prison, with a further nine years to be served concurrently.

The sentences against both victims will run consecutively, taking his total prison term to eight years plus one year on an extended licence.

He was also handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and will be placed on the sex offenders register.

Detective Constable Sam Dutton, from Hertfordshire Constabulary’s Non-Recent Sexual Offences Team, said: “The predatory and harmful behaviours of Aggabao have had a long-lasting impact on the lives of both the victims and their families.

“I hope this conviction and lengthy sentence shows that we will continue to take proactive action against anyone who targets young people.”

A delivery driver who repeatedly asked a customer for sex then tried to kiss her has been jailed.

Denis Bahrim asked to use the woman's toilet at her home in Doncaster before coming back downstairs and grabbing her shoulder when she rejected him.

She told him to leave but he refused and told her she was "beautiful", Sheffield Crown Court heard.

Bahrim, of Beckett Road, Wheatley, admitted sexual assault and was jailed on 15 May for two years and 10 months.

The woman reported the attack to police after the defendant left her home.

Officers were able to identify 26-year-old Bahrim through footage from the woman's doorbell and a subsequent search led to his arrest.

As well as a prison sentence, he was given an indefinite restraining order against the woman.

South Yorkshire Police investigations officer Jenny Dunkin said: "Bahrim took advantage of his victim's generosity.

"She let him into her home to use her toilet only for him to repay her kindness by sexually assaulting her."

She added: "I hope this court result brings some closure to the victim and allows her to move on from what must have been a very traumatic ordeal."

A "predatory" man who raped a woman he met on the dating app Tinder has been jailed for seven years.

Alisdair Randalls had been out drinking when he persuaded the woman to leave her home and accompany him to his flat in Aberdeen in December 2015.

The victim made clear she did not wish to engage in sexual activity but Randalls "persisted" and "seized" her by the throat while raping her in the property, a court heard.

He later told the victim he could not remember "anything", the hearing was told.

Randalls was found guilty of one count of rape at the High Court in Aberdeen last month and was sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow today.

As well as his jail sentence, he was also banned for life from contacting the woman and was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.

Judge Lord Colbeck said Randalls accepted "no responsibility" for his crime and it had significantly affected the victim's life.

"You show little or no insight in to your offending behaviour and the impact this has had upon your victim," the judge added.

A Welsh headteacher has been found guilty of sexual abuse involving four girls. Neil Foden, 66, who worked at a school in North Wales, was charged with 20 offences against five girls, who cannot be identified to protect their anonymity.

He stood impassively in the dock at Mold Crown Court as the jury foreman read out the guilty verdicts on 19 out of 20 indictments. The jury of seven women and five men delivered their verdicts on the defendant, of Gwynant, Old Colwyn, after a three-week trial.

The judge His Honour Rhys Rowlands called him "arrogant and controlling" man who was used to getting his own way. He said some explanations for his behaviour "beggared belief".

The court heard concerns about Foden were raised with Cyngor Gwynedd at an earlier stage. Judge Rowlands said: “When real concerns were first raised about the defendant with the county council they were simply dismissed, pretty much out of hand.”

He said no investigation was carried out and no notes were taken. He added: “We now know he continued to offend. That’s very concerning indeed.”

Foden was convicted of sexual activity with a child, using or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to arrange or incite sexual activity with a child by penetration, engaging in sexual communication with a child, two counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust and possession of an indecent photograph of a child, North Wales Live reported.

He adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report to be made. Foden is due to be sentenced at Mold Crown Court on July 1. The judge told him to expect a sentence of some length.

Speaking after the verdict, Assistant Chief Constable Gareth Evans said: “We welcome the jury’s verdict following a difficult case and thank them for their diligent work.

“My thoughts remain with the victims and their families today, who have shown dignity and bravery throughout the trial and we will continue to support in moving forward.

“I will make further comment after the sentencing hearing.”

Foden’s offending came to light in September 2023 when the first victim made disclosures. As part of the investigation another four victims were identified, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said.

The evidence presented included the victims accounts. Those accounts were corroborated by the evidence obtained by the police in the form of mobile devices, computers seized, forensic evidence and financial enquiries. Text messages and calls linked Foden to the victims. Foden denied all charges against him and choose not to answer any question during his police interviews.

Ceri Ellis-Jones of the CPS said: “These crimes were shocking as Foden was a trusted and well-respected individual, who used that to his advantage. He abused his position of trust and targeted the most vulnerable females he was entrusted to safeguard.

“The victims are to be commended for their bravery in coming forward and giving evidence. Their support for this prosecution has been key to Foden being brought to justice.

“I would also like to thank the specialist team at North Wales Police with whom we closely collaborated from the outset. We were able to present a compelling case to the jury, resulting in these convictions".

A Cyngor Gwynedd spokesperson said: "As a council, we welcome the court's decision. We are appalled by the nature of the crimes committed and commend and admire the remarkable courage and resilience the victims and their families have displayed throughout the process.

They said: "As a result, pastoral arrangements put in place for pupils at the start of the criminal proceedings will continue for the foreseeable future. From the beginning of this case, Cyngor Gwynedd has worked closely with North Wales Police to ensure that the Wales Safeguarding Procedures have been followed in full.

"Now that the criminal process has concluded, the task of reviewing work practices and establishing what lessons can be learnt will begin. Due to the serious nature of the case, arrangements are being made to carry out an independent review in accordance with national Child Practice Review guidelines. The exact form of the review is currently being determined.

"Until all relevant investigations and reviews have been completed, it would not be appropriate...to comment further."
