POLICE have released the picture of an Andover man who was jailed for almost five years for covertly filming young children in an Andover supermarket.

John Fielding pleaded guilty to a number of sexual offences when he appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Friday 22 July.

The 46-year-old, of Old Winton Road, was sentenced to four years and ten months in prison.

He pleaded guilty four counts of outraging public decency, six counts of making indecent photographs/pseudo-photographs of a child, two counts of possessing a prohibited image of a child, two counts of possessing extreme pornography, and three counts of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.

The court heard that Fieldings offending came to light in Friday 27 May, when he was confronted by a customer at the Lidl store in Western Avenue.

The customer had become suspicious of Fieldings behaviour in the store and, with the help of other customers, detained him until police arrived.

A camera pen was found in Fieldings bag.

The court heard that during the subsequent investigation, officers from Hampshire Constabularys Northern Investigations team discovered videos Fielding had covertly filmed children and young people in public places across the South and South West of England using a camera pen or Go Pro camera.

Officers also found thousands of indecent images of children that Fielding had downloaded to his computer from the internet since Friday 29 January.

As well as being sentenced to four years and ten months imprisonment, Fielding received a sexual harm prevention order, until further order.

He was also placed on the sexual offenders register, again until further order.

PC Stephen Court, officer in the case, said: John Fielding is a devious man who used covert methods to film children in public places.

This offending came to light thanks to the actions and bravery of a vigilant member of public who had spotted Fielding acting suspiciously in the Andover Lidl store on May 27.

I would like to place on record my thanks to this customer, and to the other members of the public, who showed bravery and restraint in detaining Fielding in the store until officers arrived.

This investigation and subsequent sentence serves as a reminder that we take the kind of behaviour shown by Fielding very seriously, and strive to bring such offenders to justice.

Pantomime star Barry Wall, 36, later pleaded guilty to six charges relating to possessing indecent images of children

Parents have questioned why a convicted pervert was allowed to spend time with children while he was under investigation for downloading indecent images of children.

Disgraced Anglesey pantomime star Barry Wall was arrested on suspicion of obtaining the sick images on March 14.

Wall, of Newry Street, then continued to host dance and acting classes in Holyhead.

The 36-year-old claimed the images were on his laptop when he bought it second hand.

However, he pleaded guilty to the charges at Magistrates’ Court in May.

Paul Garden, a foster parent from Holyhead, said he was outraged when he discovered Wall’s disgusting crimes.

He said: “We’re worried because my foster children and granddaughter have drama lessons with this guy.

“I think it’s very worrying, I’m really annoyed.

“We pay for the kids to go (to the lessons).

“They were due to put on a performance but he cancelled it saying they were not ready.

“Perhaps we know the real reason now.”

Another parent, who asked not to be named, said: “He was running a ‘Show on’ drama group in Holyhead for young children, right up until his conviction - even after his guilty plea.

“Disgraceful he was allowed to get away with that.

“I was contacted by him on June 20 to do a disco for the kids for their after show party.

“He only cancelled it last week.”

But Detective Inspector Sion Williams, who heads the paedophile and online investigation team, defended the force’s role while Wall was on bail.

The officer said: “After Mr Wall was charged, he was placed on stringent police bail conditions prior to his first appearance at Holyhead Magistrates’ Court.

“These bail conditions were clearly aimed at restricting any unsupervised access with children.

“North Wales Police did not have any information or intelligence that would have heightened concern that Mr Wall was continuing to interact with children, otherwise appropriate action would have been taken.

“Following his conviction, Mr Wall will also be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which, again is aimed at curtailing any unfettered access he could have with children in the future.”

Last week Wall told the Daily Post he was “pressured” into pleading guilty by his solicitor - an accusation they have strongly denied.

He also said he plans to move to Liverpool following his conviction.

A sex monster who repeatedly raped an underage girl leaving her pregnant boasted he was copying his rapist dad, his ex-girlfriend has revealed.

Bethany Hazell was just 15 and 16 when she was sexually assaulted by James Hunt, whose father Neil Hunt was jailed for 12 years for raping a woman on the street.

The supermarket worker, who is currently serving eight years in prison for three attacks on Bethany, now 21,told her: "Dad did it so I have done it now."

Hunt, 21, was jailed in 2013 for the attacks - and raping another woman - after boasting of his crimes to a friend, who was a PCSO.

At the age of 12 he had watched TV reports of the 2007 trial of his dad at Winchester Crown Court , where the jury heard how he sprang from his car, threw the woman to the ground and violently raped her before driving home and slipping into bed beside wife Heather.

Bethany, of Cosham, Portsmouth, is now bringing up three-year-old daughter Teagan-Hope, who she had as a result of the second rape.

She said: "It looks like he is proud that he is like his dad. It's like he thinks it's a cool thing. It just makes me feel so sick. It is disgusting."

Bethany and Hunt met at a district Scouts camp in 2010 when they were both just 15 but things quickly took a sinister turn.

She recalled: "I felt like I was in love with him - that it was going to be forever - but it was only three or four months into the relationship that things got nasty.

"We were arguing about something - I can't remember what - and he went to punch me but at the last second he punched the wall directly beside my head.

"I was scared. Warning bells rang but I just really loved him. He apologised and he seemed genuine about it - it was only once and he didn't actually hit me."

Six months into the relationship Hunt committed the first rape when he demanded sex for the first time and she said she wasn't ready.

He ignored her protests and pinned her down and repeated the crime ten months later.

The third rape happened at her family home when Bethany was 20 weeks pregnant - while her parents were downstairs.

Bethany, who has waived her anonymity, said: "James isn't bothered by what he's done. He was like, 'Oh well, dad did it so I have done it now.'

"He is even using it to flirt with people, in a twisted way.

"I saw a conversation between him and a girl and he said, 'Oh no, you won't be interested in me because I've done a terrible thing.'

"At the time when it was happening he seemed genuinely remorseful but from his comments now, it looks like he is proud that he is like his dad."

Bethany said she lived in constant fear of Hunt's unpredictable mood swings and violent outbursts.

She said: "I was going to a Christmas party once so he hid the dress I was going to wear so I couldn't go. Other times he would hide my purse so I couldn't go out.

"He was quite aggressive some of the time but the rest of the time he could be really nice. He used to get me loads of little presents - things he knew I would like."

Asked why she did not leave Hunt or go to police, she said: "I felt trapped.

"It was scary at the time but at other times he was fine and everything was good so I tried to make it into less of an issue.

"I think I knew he was a bad person but I made the issue into a smaller thing. I was just very naive.

"I thought, 'He does love me. He just gets a bit angry sometimes. I probably wind him up.'"

Bethany said Hunt and his father, who had two other children and was separated from his mother, lost contact in October 2006 when he was arrested for a minor crime.

A DNA check linked him to an unsolved rape from 17 years previously and his mother Helen, now 49, later told him the truth about his father.

Hunt and his father have recently got back in touch and now Hunt's mother - who has forgiven her son - wants them to meet her little girl.

Heather was recently refused access to Bethany's daughter by a court.

Bethany claims Heather has been secretly passing Hunt photos of the little girl and Hunt has written to Bethany from prison cell, begging to see her.

Bethany, who is bringing up her daughter at her parents' home, said she has suffered from post-natal depression, anxiety and PTSD since her relationship with Hunt.

She said: "I find it difficult to trust people. If someone close to you can do something like this, what can someone who doesn't know you do?

"It has ruined my life in a way. I had to grow up so quickly."

Bethany eventually left Hunt in November 2012 when her daughter was a baby because she feared he might turn on the little girl.

He was arrested three months later after boasting of his crimes to a PCSO mate who told his superiors.

He was charged with four counts of rape - three against Bethany and one relating to a second girl.

He pleaded guilty and was jailed for eight years at Portsmouth Crown Court in October 2013.

His father had his sentence reduced on appeal to seven years.

A 20-year-old rapist has been convicted of sexually abusing two girls, starting when he was just 10.

David Murphy was "aggressive and violent" when assaulting one of the victims.

He eventually raped her, a jury at Maidstone Crown Court heard.

Prosecutor Danny Moore said Murphy, of Le Temple Road, Paddock Wood, would take every opportunity to sexually assault the girls and rape one of them.

His actions demonstrated that he had issues concerning his sexual behaviour.

Murphy threatened one of the girls that if she told anybody about the abuse, the same would happen to one of her relatives.

"He was violent on occasion, unpredictable and seemingly a powerful influence on her," said Mr Moore.

"She was a child and didn't know what to do. She didnt know what to say or how to react" - Prosecutor Danny Moore

Murphy would force her to perform a sex act on him and was "really violent and aggressive".

He would pinch her, leaving marks.

"She was a child and didnt know what to do," said Mr Moore.

"She didnt know what to say or how to react."

After raping her, he made more threats about what would happen if she reported it.

He would strike her chest and bite her lips.

Feeling trapped and isolated, it led to the girl self-harming and even considering suicide.

The girl tried to stop Murphy raping her by saying she was too young for sex, but he still continued.

"She said she would never forget what happened because she was in so much pain and in such a dark place," said Mr Moore.

Murphy also touched the other girl inappropriately.

It was systematic and happened many times.

One of the girls revealed the abuse after a sex education class at school which covered rape.

"It resonated with her," said Mr Moore.

Murphy was convicted of four charges of rape, five of sexual assault and two of assault by penetration.

He was acquitted of one charge of rape and one of sexual assault. He denied all of those charges but admitted one charge of rape and one of sexual assault.

Murphy was granted bail until sentence on August 22.

A HEREFORD man has been jailed for 20 years after being found guilty of sexual offences against children.

AN apprentice mechanic was jailed for three years at the High Court in Glasgow on Tuesday after being convicted of having under-age sex with two teenage girls. The court heard that 22-year-old Zai Vessey, from Shetland, already had a previous conviction for under-age sex and was on probation when he committed one of the offences. Following a trial at the High Court in Aberdeen, Vessey was convicted of having unlawful sex with a 14-year-old girl at a house in Lerwick in 2010 and with a 15-year-old girl in Shetland in 2012. He was cleared of asking the 14-year-old for naked pictures of her and of sending her naked pictures of himself, and of raping the 15-year-old. Judge Johanna Johnston QC told Vessey: You have exploited these young women. One was 14 and the other girl was 15. You committed one of these offences when you had an analagous conviction and were on probation. Had this been a case where you were very much older than these girls I would have taken a very different view. Vessey, who had denied all the charges against him during his trial, was placed on the sex offenders register. The court heard that he had sex with the 14-year-old when he was 17, and with the second girl when he was 19. Solicitor advocate John Keenan said: My client has completed three years of a four year HGV mechanic apprenticeship. His former employer will allow him to complete his apprenticeship when he is released. He will have work available and will live with his family.

A PAEDOPHILE who was found with nearly a quarter of a million indecent images on his laptop, some of which showed very young children being tortured, was said to be addicted to viewing them. Ross McNaughton was sent to prison for four years after pleading guilty at Winchester Crown Court to six counts relating to making, distributing and possessing the images, some of which showed children as young as one-years-old being abused. The 47-year-old, of Silvester Close, South View, was arrested by police in August last year, and tried to shut down a file sharing programme on his laptop when officers found him in his room. A forensic examiner found McNaughton had searched the internet for child abuse of young children and had made and distributed thousands of the images, some of which were the most serious category A. Prosecutor Sadie Rizzo said: The age of the children are extremely young and there are images showing distress to these children. She told the court that the images were of female children, and that McNaughton viewed them every day between June 2014 and August 2015. The court heard that McNaughton has a history of similar offences and had spent three months in prison for possessing indecent images in August 1997. He last appeared in court in July 2006 for making and possessing indecent images of children, and was given a community rehabilitation order for three years. Defending McNaughton, Adam Norris said: If he is not supervised thats when temptation creeps in. He added: One might say this is something of a compulsion or addiction. Its almost like an addiction to a drug and Mr McNaughton knows that he will never be cured, if cured is the right word. But he must learn to manage it as others do. Mr Norris described McNaughton as having an obsessive personality and said he was addicted to collecting, arranging, filing and storing the indecent images. He told the court: Mr McNaughton is a solitary figure who doesnt interact within the real world. He leads a life that is online. He urged the judge to give credit for the fact McNaughton had been candid about his crimes and suggested he would be vulnerable in prison, asking for a sentence that would allow him to come out of custody and build some sort of life in the community. Mr Norris told the court that McNaughtons 85-year-old mother was in remission from cancer, adding: It would be a tragedy if he served a sentence of such a length that his mother died whilst he was inside. Judge Michael Vere Hodge said he had taken this into consideration but concluded: It simply cant affect the way in which I have to sentence you. He described the number of images as staggeringly high showing child pornography of the worst kind. He added: To watch images of children in distress, being tortured in some, must put this in the worst possible category. The judge sentenced McNaughton to three years in prison for count one making 7,621 category A images; two years for count two possessing 17,944 category B images; one year for count three possessing 227,633 category C images; four years for count four distributing 28,011 category A, B and C images; two years for count five being in possession of 4,223 indecent images with a view to distributing them; and one year for count six being in possession of extreme pornographic images, to run concurrently. He was also issued with a sexual harm prevention order and will remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

A Cumbrian man has been jailed for 12 months after admitting engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Jason Barry, 42, of Mouzel, near Dalton, initially denied two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a minor, one count of sexual activity with a minor and one count of rape.

He admitted one count and the other charges were dropped.

The offences took place between March 2010 and July 2011.

The court was told that the vulnerable schoolgirl was just 13-years-old. She later became pregnant with his child as a result.

As well as being jailed, Barry was put under a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order, put on the sex offenders register and put under a two-year restraining order.

He appeared before Preston Crown Court on April 4.

A sex offender who was wanted on recall to prison has been found and arrested. Michael Crabb, 53, was jailed for nine years for child sex offences and was released on licence on March 17. He breached the conditions of his licence and police issued an appeal in an attempt to find him. He was arrested in Lambeth yesterday (June 16). The Metropolitan Police have thanked the public for its help with the appeal.

Briton, 30, will serve at least 25 years after admitting 71 offences against children aged between six months and 12 years One of Britains worst predatory paedophiles, who targeted, groomed and abused up to 200 Malaysian babies and children and shared images of his horrific crimes on the dark web, has been handed 22 life sentences. Richard Huckle, 30, a photographer from Ashford in Kent, who posed as an English teacher and philanthropist in poor Christian communities in Kuala Lumpur, admitted an unprecedented 71 offences, including rapes, against young children aged between six months and 12 years between 2006 and 2014. Some of the 23 children identified in the charges were abused for years, including one from the age of three until 10. The number of his victims was believed to be much higher investigators found a ledger and scorecard on his computer in which he awarded himself marks for different kinds of abuse of 191 girls and boys. Judge Peter Rook QC on Monday ordered Huckle to serve a minimum term of 25 years to reflect the public abhorrence for a campaign of rape that spanned nine years. He told him it was very rare indeed that a judge had to sentence sexual offending by one person on such a scale. Rook told Huckle: Your offending behaviour became entrenched in your everyday life. Your life revolved around your sexual activities with young children. Your distorted beliefs in respect of children are deep-seated. Your self-delusion knows no bounds. Based on Huckles chilling experiences and observations he once boasted it was easier to abuse children from poor communities than middle-class western children the 30-year-old had drafted a truly evil manual for other paedophiles that promoted child sexual abuse tourism, the judge said. He had even sought to profit from his crimes by attempting to sell footage to other abusers, he added. It appears that your conduct was escalating, Rook said. It is also clear that, had you not been arrested, you planned to continue the same lifestyle using the expertise that you were keen to show off to and share with other abusers so as to continue your sexual exploitation of the children of such communities. Images and videos of Huckles rapes and assaults on very young children were shared with paedophiles around the world via the dark web. Rook told him: Relentlessly, you preyed upon the very young pre-pubescent vulnerable children from a minority ethnic community into which you ingratiated yourself. This was a prolonged campaign of rape of the children from a small community. While presenting himself to his victims families as a respectable English teacher and philanthropist who could help them, Huckle was systematically abusing the children you claimed to care about. This was one of the most aggravating features of the case, the judge said. Huckle, wearing a grey sweatshirt, his long, unkempt black hair scraped back in a ponytail, stood impassive with his palms clasped together, as if in prayer, as he was sentenced. As he was taken down to the cells, a member of the public shouted from the gallery: A thousand deaths is too good for you, I know one of those families. Rook said Huckle had almost certainly blighted the lives of his victims and caused them severe psychological harm. A letter which Huckle submitted to the court on Monday, which contained apologies to his victims families and the Malaysian government, was an attempt to justify the unjustifiable, Rook said. However, in light of Huckles refusal to hand over encrypted passwords to hidden files on his computer, the judge added: In my view, you may well harbour feelings of regret but there is no feeling of genuine remorse in this case. Huckle first visited Malaysia on a teaching gap year when he was 19, and went on to groom more children after posing as a Christian English teacher and philanthropist. Five of the children were living in a childrens home and on one occasion he took a girl out to celebrate her fifth birthday and molested her at his house in Kuala Lumpur. His arrest came after Austrialian investigators tracking the activities of a now convicted paedophile who ran a child abuse site on the dark web noticed Huckle was a prolific user of the website. The National Crime Agency, which was criticised by Malaysian authorities for failing to alert them early enough of Huckles crimes, admitted it was first told about his offending in August 2014 but did not have enough evidence to present to Malaysian police for another three months. Speaking outside the Old Bailey, Andrew Brennan, the NCAs deputy director, said it was first contacted by Australian authorities in August 2014. But he said the NCA had to then identify where and who Huckle was before providing the Malaysian police with all of the intelligence in November 2014. They didnt have sufficient evidence to arrest him, we made a decision we would arrest him in December 2014, said Brennan. Im very confident we worked very, very closely with the Malaysian authorities and an NGO based in Malaysia. He also insisted there was absolutely no evidence or intelligence of Huckle offending in the UK. The NCA arrested Huckle as he arrived at Gatwick airport on a trip home to spend Christmas with his parents in December 2014. Officers seized Huckles encrypted laptop and managed to uncover more than 20,000 indecent pictures and videos, although there were other files they were unable to retrieve. When Huckle confessed his crimes to his parents, after his arrest, they begged police to take him away and made statements supporting his prosecution. Ahead of his sentencing, Huckle claimed to a psychiatrist that he wanted to put his madness behind him and settle down with a woman from south India. But the court was shown a posting from 2013 in which he outlined his plan to marry one of his victims in order to help him abuse more children. The judge concluded that Huckle posed a substantial risk for an indefinite period. James Traynor, from the NCAs child exploitation and online protection command, said: Richard Huckle spent several years integrating himself into the community in which he lived, making himself a trusted figure. But he abused that trust in the worst possible way. He deliberately travelled to a part of the world where he thought he could abuse vulnerable children without being caught. Traynor said the NCA had tracked down Huckle and used legislation that allows UK nationals to be prosecuted in the UK for offences committed overseas. He said: Borders are no barrier we are determined that those who go abroad to abuse children will be held to account. Anthony Hill, the international justice and organised crime prosecutor at the CPS, said: It is hard to put into words the sheer depravity of this case. For almost nine years, Richard Huckle subjected at least 23 children, some of them very young, to the most horrifying abuse imaginable. He deliberately targeted and groomed vulnerable communities abroad to gain their trust. Borders are not a barrier to justice and the CPS worked with the NCA to painstakingly review all of the evidence from the internet, his computers and cameras. The strength of our evidence led to him pleading guilty to 71 charges. Huckles crimes were so serious that prosecutors planned three separate Old Bailey trials as they felt one jury could not cope with viewing all the videos and photographs of abuse. In January, Huckle pleaded not guilty to all 91 charges, but ahead of his trial in April, he gradually admitted 71 of the offences over the course of five more hearings. He has already spent 488 days in jail, so faces more than 23 years in prison before a parole board can consider his release. The NSPCC said Huckle was a frighteningly depraved paedophile who had bragged about raping babies and delighted in abusing infants who trusted him and who had left a trail of devastation. In a statement, the NSPCC added: It is horrifying that Huckle was able to profit from this appalling abuse by using the web to sell images and even films to other paedophiles; emphasising the importance, yet again, of the need for a cohesive, global effort from both the authorities and internet services providers to combat this vile trade.

A MAN who had unprotected sex with a 15-year-old autistic girl while on bail for impregnating another underage girl has been sent back to prison.

William Tollan-Townsend, 20, was jailed for 16 months in August last year for getting a 13-year-old girl pregnant after telling her he could not wear protection.

He only admitted that crime after DNA from the foetus matched his.

In July last year, just days before he was due in court to plead guilty to the underage sex, he invited a 15-year-old girl, who was on the autistic spectrum, to the park and persuaded her to have sex with him.

The two were on "friendly terms" and used to exchange messages on social media.

Winchester Crown Court heard how she was "reluctant" to have sex because he had a girlfriend, but he told her that they had broken up.

It was her first sexual encounter and Tollan-Townsend was described as being "persistent".

After the incident he told the girl: "Don't tell anyone because I'm already being done for having sex with an underage girl."

Yet the girl told staff at her school the following day, who were able to obtain the morning after pill, and reported it to the police.

Nick Cotter, defending, said Tollan-Townsend had made a "reckless decision" and his judgement was affected by his impending court case.

Tollan-Townsend, from Bell Street, Andover, was charged by police just days before he was due to be released early on good behaviour.

In sentencing him to a further 18 months in jail, Recorder Alastair Malcolm QC at Salisbury Crown Court told him that it was a "serious case".

He said the crime had been made worse by not wearing protection and that it was committed while on bail.

Tollan-Townsend is already on the sex offender register.

Samuel McDonald – who admitted having unlawful sex with a 13-year-old and sexually assaulting a seven-year-old – was jailed for four and a half years at the High Court in Livingston.

Police raided 49-year-old Janet Robinsons home in Prideaux Brune Avenue, Gosport, after discovering chat logs on the now-jailed gangs computers.

Disgusting images were found on her computer, including a six-month-old baby being abused.

The rape gang, including Matthew Stansfield, were jailed last year following a trial at Bristol Crown Court that heard they travelled the country to abuse children.

But Robinson has today been spared jail after a court heard her family are standing by her.

Sentencing, judge Ian Pearson said: Its an unusual case and a very depressing one at that.

He added: You were also part of a large group of paedophiles but very much on the periphery and clearly Bristol court thought it right an proper you could be separated off from the other offenders.

At Portsmouth Crown Court today a judge heard Robinson had a sick hoard of images, including a movie of bestiality with a girl aged between 12 and 13.

Robinson, who has been shunned by the community since admitting her crimes last month, talked to men on Skype and Yahoo.

There is no suggestion she abused any children.

Matthew Lawson, prosecuting, said she lifted up one image to show another pervert online.

Mr Lawson said: These offences came to light following police investigation into adult male sex offenders.

One being arrested was found to be in contact over Skype with the defendants internet address and investigation led the police to the defendants address.

When they attended her address on June 15 last year she immediately told officers she was the user of that Skype address and that she was the person they were coming for.

Investigation of her computers revealed a number of indecent images of children.

There were 26 still images at level A, 24 at level B and 12 at level C, and one moving image at level A.

Mr Lawson added: The defendant has been chatting over the internet using Skype and Yahoo with a number of men and the chats involved discussions about child sex abuse and bestiality.

The defendant also was found with 33 images of bestiality on her computer.

The discussions themselves talk about the defendants wish to partake in child sex abuse and bestiality.

Mr Lawson said she even held up an image of abuse while talking to a pervert online - but did refuse to share it by downloading.

Mr Lawson added: She also gives advice to one other person as to how to search for images themselves by using a particular search engine which effectively avoids detection while doing so.

The court heard she made full admissions to police when arrested and told them she had performed a sex act with a dog before.

Judge Ian Pearson said: This was a sick fantasy of yours, you got your sexual gratification from the male with who you were discussing rather than the images.

He handed Robinson a 16-month suspended term for the child image offences and a four-month concurrent term for the bestiality. All were suspended for two years.

Robinson was put on the sex offenders register for 10 years and banned from contact with children under 16 and from having a dog for 10 years.

She must complete 50 days of rehabilitation activities and pay 350 prosecution costs.

Her equipment will be forfeited and the images destroyed.

Hannah Duncan, for Robinson, said she had never been in trouble and had nausea from remorse.

She added Robinson had lost her job, was told not to come back to a fitness group she attends and that a Facebook page had been set up highlighting her crimes.

Robinson previously pleaded guilty to 14 charges of possession of indecent images and one charge of possession of extreme pornography.

Robinson had been charged with intercourse with a dog but pleaded not guilty and Mr Lawson offered no evidence and a not guilty verdict was recorded.

The bulk of the images charges date between January 2010 and June 2015, with the movie charge dating back between April 2006 to June 2015.

A registered sex offender and former Met Police officer from Greenhithe, who is a danger to children, has been jailed for more than four years after admitting to grooming and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. Gary Cawthorne promised the vulnerable young Londoner an admin job in a fictional property business and took the opportunity to assault his victim during their so-called business meetings. As soon as they were alone he offered her 300 to get into her knickers, the Daily Star reports. On another occasion he groped her breast at a car wash in Ebbsfleet. The 53-year-old used the alias of Lee Mason and his crimes only came to light with the schoolgirls suspicious friend contacted Cawthorne, who used to live in Plumstead, to inquire about a job. The sex pest asked for several photos and the girl sent a head shot but declined requests to send further images of her body. The teenager told her parents about the messages and they contacted her school. Both girls were spoken to by officers from the Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command on Tuesday, March 1. Cawthorne was soon identified of the sender of the messages, and arrested the next day. He was charged on March 5. The paedophile pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 16, one count of sexual grooming, and breach of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order at Southwark Crown Court on May 3. A paedophile who systematically sexually abused three vulnerable young girls has been jailed for 20 years.

David Weightman preyed on the youngsters, starting when one was just six years old, by groping them when he was looking after them.

And the pervert told two of the terrified youngsters that he would have sex with them 'one day' leaving them terrified of the next time they would see him.

Weightman also took the opportunity to sexually abused a fourth young girl when he briefly met her when she too was in a vulnerable state.

The 56-year-old, of Linkway, Salisbury, carried out the sex attacks on the youngsters between 1998 and 2004.

Although he pleaded not guilty to the allegations a jury found him guilty of 19 counts, including rape, attempted rape and sexual assault, following a trial.

Philip Warren, for the Crown, told Swindon Crown Court that he had shown 'grooming behaviour' on the vulnerable youngsters Charles Row, defending, said that his client, formerly of Trowbridge, had a number of health issues including sepsis and 'shattered nerves'.

Jailing him Judge Tim Mousley QC said "Over a period of about nine years between 1998 and 2007 you systematically abused three young girls. In addition you opportunistically abused another girl.

"I have seen them give evidence and I have heard each of one speak of the impact your abuse has had upon them.

"In my judgement they have shown remarkable resilience. But their lives have been ruined. Their formative years were times on enormous sadness and fear.

"You chose to contest this: that is your right. If you had admitted it how much easier it would be for the girls to move on with their lives.

"They had to wait for the jury to say guilty: you hadn't got the courage to say it yourself.

"The girls kept the truth to themselves for the best of reasons. The psychological impact on them has been immense.

"Your abuse of them took may forms, it included you trying to have sex with them against their will.

"You told two of them that one day you would have sex with them. You might like to pause for minute: what a young girl might think of that when she had already been abused."

He also told him he would have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, would be barred from working with children and must abide by a sexual harm prevention order which would restrict his liberty.

Speaking after his conviction Temporary Detective Sergeant Helen Clarke, of Chippenham CID, said "Weightman has shown no remorse for his despicable actions and his not guilty plea meant that his victims had to relive their horrific ordeals once again.

"I would like to praise the four victims in this case who have shown an incredible amount of bravery and courage in not only coming forward and reporting this abuse to police, but also in standing in court to give evidence.

"I cannot imagine how difficult this would have been after so many years of trying to rebuild their own lives. Without their cooperation, we would never have reached this stage."
