A paedophile has been jailed for a minimum of 10 years after abducting a young girl in Ellesmere Port, and subjecting her to a horrific sex attack. A paedophile who kidnapped and raped an 11-year-old girl after grabbing her off the street in Ellesmere Port as she walked home was branded the living embodiment of every parent's worst nightmare,'' as he was jailed. Paul Ripley, 53, abducted the terrified youngster in on a winter's night last year, Chester Crown Court heard. The girl was near her house walking from a friend's home around 7pm last November 7 when Ripley pulled up in his car, bundled her into the passenger seat and drove off. A witness heard a girl scream and a car drive off at speed and as her frantic parents searched the streets and called police, Ripley drove the girl hundreds of miles north, before pulling into a field. There he raped her twice then wrapped duct tape over her mouth and eyes before abandoning her in a village near Darlington, County Durham, in the early hours of the morning. She flagged a passing taxi down, telling the driver: I don't know where I am. I've been raped...'' But police were quickly able to trace Ripley's silver Hyundai car as it drove back south to Cheshire, arresting Ripley on the M6 in Lancashire, within hours of the attack. The defendant's DNA was recovered from the girl and Ripley admitted two counts of rape, kidnap and dangerous driving at an earlier hearing. Today he was given an extended sentence on licence, meaning he will serve between 10 and 16 years in jail before parole depending on an assessment of his dangerousness and be on licence under supervision for 24 years in all. Ripley, originally from the Darlington area but living in Ellesmere Port at the time, showed no emotion as he was sentenced. Judge Nicholas Woodward told him: This must have been a harrowing ordeal where you specifically targeted a vulnerable child for your own sexual gratification. Children's freedom in modern society is affected by the concern caused by people like you. You are a very dangerous man, that is to say you present a significant risk to members of the public. In short, you are the living embodiment of every parent's worst nightmare.'' Police say Ripley, who had 27 previous convictions but none for anything so serious before and none for the last 13 years, has not been forensically linked to any unsolved sex attacks.

A Dewsbury man has been jailed for 10 years after he sexually abused a six-year-old girl.

Leeds Crown Court heard after Nile Akram’s offending came to light he broke down and said: “I need help. I’ve got a thing for children.” He said he wanted to kill himself.

Abigail Langford prosecuting told the court that Akram, at the time aged 19, had let the youngster use his Playstation on January 22.

By chance she was being treated for a urine infection that day and when her mother later checked her for any soreness she mentioned something had happened to her when she was alone with Akram. He had told her not to tell anybody.

Her mother then used a teddy bear to get her to show her where he had touched her and what he had done.

When Akram was arrested he told officers he realised he had a sexual interest in children when he was about 10 or 11. He had started kissing the little girl and had progressed to other offences and knew what he had done was wrong.

Gillian Batts representing Akram said many of the offences against him came as a result of his own frank admissions to the police.

He had developed from looking at child pornography on the internet in the past to the physical offences involved.

“It is rare to come across somebody so very frank about their own problem. He acknowledges his wrong and the damage he has caused, his guilty plea is the best demonstration of that.”

“He knows he is going to receive a lengthy custodial sentence. What he wants is assistance, he is still only a young man and does not want to be the person he is.”

“One can imagine the effect on the complainant and her family.”

Akram, now 20, and of no fixed address, admitted four offences of oral rape, six of sexual assault and one charge of engaging in sexual activity. He was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

Jailing him Judge Tom Bayliss QC said he had shown “remarkable insight” into his “deviant sexual tendencies” and had been candid with the police and courts, but they were serious offences.

“You began by looking at images on the internet when you were very young. You started by kissing this girl and then escalated to touching her and then these terrible acts occurred and you put pressure on her not to tell anybody.”

A MAN has been given a four-and-a-half year jail term for engaging in sexual activity with a child. Daniel Lee Coleman, 30, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today. Coleman had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual activity with a child aged under 16. He committed the offences in late 2013 and early 2014. Judge Peter Hughes QC handed down the prison sentence to Coleman, of Rydal Street, Carlisle. He is now also subject to the terms of a sexual harm prevention order and has been placed on the sex offenders' register, for an indefinite period. Coleman's case will also be reported to the independent safeguarding authorities.

A traumatised victim of a former Cub Scout leader and “serial paedophile” who preyed on young boys has been awarded £48,000 compensation by a judge.

The man, who cannot be identified, was abused by David Hopkins over seven years, and forced to give in to his sickening demands hundreds of times.

Hopkins, 77, of St Anne’s Court Maidstone, was jailed for 10 years in 2003 after admitting 25 sex crimes against children.

Police found photographs and diaries of the abuse kept by Hopkins, who led a Cub Scout group in east Kent.

Some of the crimes took place at his then home in Lyminge.

His victim was one of many who suffered at Hopkins’ hands during the 1980s, and applied for £100,000 damages.

He sued the Scout Association, which admitted it was legally liable for Hopkins’ misdeeds but disputed the amount of the man’s payout.

Judge Martin McKenna said the man was “deserving of sympathy” for his blighted childhood and awarded him £48,000. However, he ruled the abuse could not be blamed for the man’s later descent into a life of crime and drug addiction, nor for a series of failed relationships.

He had also “in effect blackmailed” Hopkins, getting money and gifts out of the paedophile which he “saw as compensation”.

Judge McKenna said the man’s life of crime was “a matter of personal choice and unconnected to abuse”. He added: “He has come to believe all the adverse effects in his life are attributable to the abuse.

“Whilst that belief may be sincerely held, I have come to a different conclusion.”

The court heard earlier the victim was molested by Hopkins shortly after he joined the Cubs.

David McLeneghan, his counsel, said the abuse became more severe and happened on hundreds of occasions.

A disgraced maths teacher jailed for having phone sex with a 14-year-old former pupil – who later tried to kill herself – sought legal advice on suing her for 'harassment', a hearing was told.

Richard Ariss, 29, was sentenced to a year in prison for abusing the girl earlier this year and has now been banned from the classroom for life.

Ariss taught the girl, referred to only as Pupil A, in Years 7 and 9 at a school in the Plymouth area.

After he left for a job at another school in Torbay, he set up a Facebook page as a teaching tool. It was through this that the girl's parents contacted him to arrange private tuition.

But just before the first lesson, her shocked mother found Ariss had been sexting her daughter and called the police.

Exeter Crown Court heard Ariss told the girl to delete texts and messages he sent on another, private Facebook page and told her to store his number as 'random male'.

Prosecutor Peter Coombe told the court hearing in March: 'Shortly after this came to light she overdosed on paracetamol and her mother found farewell letters to friends, one of which was to the defendant and indicated they had planned to meet.'

His messages encouraged her to perform sex acts on herself and showed that on one occasion he had got her to ring him so he could listen to her.

Mr Coombe said: 'The aggravating features are inciting her to penetrate herself and suggesting she should perform oral sex on him. There was significant planning and he has groomed her over time in gross breach of trust.'

Ariss worked at the victim's school from qualifying in July 2010 to May 2014, when he moved from Combe Martin, North Devon, to Exeter, to start his new job.

In February this year, he admitted three offences of inciting a child to take part in sexual activity in September 2014 and was jailed for a year.

But a report by a misconduct panel revealed that when asked to explain himself to teaching watchdogs Ariss showed little remorse.

'Throughout the various investigations, hearings and the trial, Mr Ariss, for the most part, still seems to be focussing on himself and the impact that his actions have had on him,' the findings stated.

The panel note that in his letter of mitigation dated 7 July 2016 and sent from prison, he states that he had been advised by his barrister and solicitors that, if the situation had been different, he could have sued Pupil A for harassment.

'The panel commented that specifically referring to this point reinforces their view that he has shown very little insight into his actions.'

The misconduct panel agreed with the trial judge that the teacher's actions were 'planned and premeditated' and it was 'a classic case of what is called "grooming"'.

It also noted the judge's remarks that 'had the relationship between Mr Ariss and Pupil A continued, there would have been sexual contact', adding: 'Mr Ariss had a blatant disregard for safeguarding policies that would have been in place at the schools in which he taught and which he would have been aware of.

'Pupil A was a vulnerable 14-year-old student (Mr Ariss was 28 at the time of the relationship).

'Even to the extent that Mr Ariss did not know this before he started tutoring her, this would have become clear to him very shortly thereafter. His actions took advantage of this vulnerability.

'The actions of Mr Ariss clearly had a very significant impact on Pupil A (who was already vulnerable), in that she tried to take her own life shortly after these matters came to a conclusion.'

The girl sobbed as she stood in the witness box at Exeter Crown Court in March when she asked for her abuser to be jailed.

She said: 'I have struggled to sleep, I have self harmed, and taken an overdose. I have struggled with feeling responsible, even though I know it was not my fault.

'I have had trouble at school with people laughing at me behind my back and calling me names. I am scared to walk down corridors because of what everyone is thinking about me.'

Recorder Mr Andrew, QC, told Ariss: 'Your contact with the girl became increasingly intimate and sexualised. You gained her trust and she spoke of things which were worrying her.

'You encouraged her to touch herself sexually and discussed her performing oral sex. These were repeated offences.

'You were intending to meet her and this was only prevented because her mother saw the texts.

'I have no hesitation in concluding that if you had met there would have been sexual contact. Behaving in this way to a former pupil was a gross breach of trust.

'You were 27 and she was 14. Teachers are supposed to protect pupils, not to abuse them. This was planned and premeditated. It was a classic case of what is called grooming.'

A babysitter left alone with a 13-year-old girl held a knife to her neck and raped and indecently assaulted her.

Adrian Barnett, now 43, attacked the girl between 1996 and 2000, and has now been jailed for six and a half years.

Sickened police said Barnett was a violent man who has since shown no remorse for his actions.

Swindon Crown Court heard Barnett was babysitting the girl in the late 1990s in Melksham, Wiltshire, when the attack took place. He later lived in Twerton, Bath.

At the time, the traumatised girl could not bring herself to tell police what happened, but officers revisited the case and spoke again to the victim, now in her early 30s.

Adrian Barnett is a violent man who has shown no remorse for his actions, said DCI Jeremy Carter, from Wiltshire police. On a date between 1996 and 2000, he abused his position of trust as a babysitter for an innocent 13-year-old girl.

While he was supposedly looking after the young girl, he held a knife to her neck, and raped her.

Understandably, this incident had a long lasting impact on the young victim who felt unable to give an account to police officers at the time.

However, Wiltshire Police reviewed the case last year, and further enquiries were carried out. As a result of the reinvestigation, the victim felt able to cooperate with police which has led to the successful prosecution of Barnett.

I would like to take this opportunity to praise the victim in this case who has shown a huge amount of bravery and courage throughout. No doubt the actions of this man will have had a huge impact on her life but I hope that this sentencing will go some way in helping her to rebuild her life and move on, he added.

Police said they hoped the case would encourage adults who had been the victims of similar crimes years ago to come forward now.

I would also like to commend the staff involved in this investigation who have worked closely with the victim to put this predator behind bars, said DCI Carter.

The woman has spoken of her devastation after 'friend' Sean Monaghan uploaded photographs and posted sick comments on US X-rated website. A young woman has told of her devastation after a close friend posted pictures of her and 10 other women alongside disgusting comments on a porn website. She was horrified to find that Balloch man Sean Monaghan was behind the sick stunt which saw innocent photos of women from across the area viewed thousands of times on an X-rated US site. Several of the girls travelled to Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week to watch as justice was served on the 24-year-old former shop worker, who was placed on the sex offenders register for two years and handed a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work. The young woman spoke of her relief at the ending of the case but said that she has been traumatised by the betrayal and now struggles to trust those close to her. She said: We are really pleased with the sentence and the fact hes been put on the sex offenders register. The sheriff [Maxwell Hendry] went through him and was fantastic. The sheriff said the issue was the threatening comments and threats he had made alongside the photos, not the pictures themselves. They were just normal prom and selfie photos. Seans lawyer said he knew how we felt but he has no idea. We are glad its over but its been such a long, distressing and embarrassing process. It was awful having to tell our families. We just want people to know what hes done. He seemed a normal guy and we would never have thought hed have done something like this. He was a best friend and I find it really difficult to trust people now and Im cautious about what I put up on Facebook. Monaghan pleaded guilty to posting the images onto adult pornographic websites and the internet without the womens knowledge or permission. He also admitted posting comments referring to the images which were of a sexually violent, threatening, offensive and derogatory nature, encouraging other users to post similar comments, posting images of his penis alongside the pictures and committing a breach of the peace. The offences took place over the course of a year between November 1, 2014, and November 1, 2015, at his home in Inchconnachan Avenue. Monaghan, who now lives on Glasgow Road in Dumbarton East, knew all of the women, who are aged between 20 and 25, and took holiday and prom photographs from their Facebook pages before uploading them on the adult site. Some of the women were his colleagues at a shop in Dumbarton where he worked at the time. The Lennox Herald told last year how the women only discovered the images after being alerted by one of the groups college friends at Halloween. They were dismayed when police officers initially told them there was nothing they could do as no crime had been committed so they decided to track the perpetrator down themselves and set up a couple of fake profiles on the site. It was there they read the horrifying comments and were able to confirm the person behind it was a trusted friend. She continued: There were videos of him on there touching himself to our pictures and we recognised his voice, his laptop and even his hands. By that point, we knew it was him so we confronted him but he said he didnt know anything about it. He later messaged me and a few of the other girls admitting it and saying he was sorry and that he didnt mean it. Once the police got on board again they were fantastic and they have been good throughout in keeping us updated on the case. She added: It still feels quite raw. At first I didnt want to be angry with him because he was my friend but as all the comments were read out in court I thought I shouldnt feel sorry for him. Now its just hatred. He still lives in Dumbarton and I still drive past his car all the time and Im reminded of what hes done. Even on Facebook, old photos of us will pop up as memories from when we were friends. When I look at them and look at him now I see a different person. The Sean I thought I knew wasnt my friend at all.

Top judges have refused to increase the jail term of a Merstham man who blighted the lives of three children, despite claims the sentence was “unduly lenient”.

Neil Hunter Cameron, 57, committed sex attacks on two young girls and showed an adult film to a teenage boy, whilst talking to him about “manly urges”.

Cameron, of Albury Road, pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault on a child under 13 and causing a child to watch a sexual act.

He was jailed for JUST 20 months at Guildford Crown Court on March 18.

That sentence was attacked yesterday as nowhere near tough enough by lawyers representing the Attorney General, Jeremy Wright QC.

Three senior judges at London’s Appeal Court heard Cameron groped one girl and kissed another, whilst making suggestive comments.

He showed the boy part of an 18 certificate “arthouse” film, portraying a sex scene between adults, and talked euphemistically about sex.

One victim complained to her family about what had happened to her and the police became involved.

Cameron then walked into his local police station and confessed to other sex crimes, which had gone undiscovered for almost a decade.

Lawyers for the Attorney General argued that Cameron had got off far too lightly for what he did to multiple victims.

But Cameron’s legal team urged a merciful course, saying he was sorry and that his brother had killed himself last week.

Lord Justice Davis, sitting with Mr Justice Jay and Judge Neil Ford QC, described it as a “sad case”.

“He has not sought to minimise his conduct. His expressions of remorse and shame were undeniably genuine and sincere,” he added.

“There was the fact of the voluntary confession to the police of the offences committed some years ago.”

Refusing to increase the sentence, Lord Justice Davis said: “What good would it do for this offender to spend but a few more months in prison?

“It would do no good. We are not prepared to interfere with the sentence imposed in this case.”

Merstham man jailed for serious sexual offences against children.

A MERSTHAM man has been jailed for serious sexual offences against children.

Neil Cameron, 57, of Albury Road, appeared at Guildford Crown Court today and pleaded guilty to four offences which took place between 2006 and 2015. 

These included three counts of sexual assault touching a child under 12 years old and one count of causing a child to watch or look at an image of sexual activity.

Cameron was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 10 years and been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Commenting after the sentencing, Detective Constable Jason Kelly of East Surrey Safeguarding Investigation Unit, said: “I am pleased that the custodial sentence will put this predatory man behind bars – I hope today’s court result will go some way to providing the victims with the strength to put these incidents behind them and move on with their lives.

“This outcome has been made possible thanks to their bravery and having the courage to come forward and report this man’s appalling behaviour.

“Any victim of a sexual offence is encouraged to come forward and report any similar incidents. Surrey Police has a dedicated team that specialises in investigating serious sexual offences and victims can be assured that their welfare will be our priority.”

A married man who committed a sex attack on a five-year-girl in a toilet has been jailed for six years.

Stephen Manley, who denied the offence but was found guilty by a jury after a trial, will also be on licence for 12 months after his release from prison.

Manchesters Minshull Street Crown Court heard his young victim had been affected psychologically and doesnt now shut toilet doors.

Manley, 34, of Well Meadow, Hyde, was convicted of a single count of sex assault and was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for an indefinite period of time.

The attack took place in Dukinfield , Tameside .

Manley, who has no previous convictions, had been painting at a house when he carried out the attack.

Huw Edwards, prosecuting, said the girl was playing in the garden with another girl and went to the toilet.

Manley went into the toilet to ask if she needed help, Mr Edwards said.

Judge Jonathan Foster QC said he took advantage of her presence.

He added: There was no direct corroboration of her evidence but she made a complaint of sorts to her friend that something had happened and complained to her mother when she got home.

The court heard the girl gave accurate descriptions of Manleys tattoos and paint on his body. She gave evidence at the trial.

Paul McDonald, defending Manley, said: The defendant does not accept the circumstances of the offence. He is a man of good character.

He has been a happily married man for some years and he has retained the support of his family and friends. They do not recognise his behaviour, but he must accept the verdict of the jury. He knows and accepts that the court has a duty to perform.

Judge Foster QC added: She described distinctive features of the man who had done this. You had tattoos and had been painting.

At the end of the day the jury convicted you and that is what I have to follow. She was a very young child of five years of age and it has affected her psychologically.

Manley was also made the subject of a list of stringent conditions over future contact with children as part of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

A former hospital cleaner has been jailed for 14 years for raping a woman near Eastbourne Pier and carrying out a string of sex attacks at his workplace. Mani Kurian, 50, of Eridge Road, Eastbourne, was convicted of rape, five sexual assaults and assault by beating following a trial at Lewes Crown Court. He raped a 21-year-old woman as she walked on the upper promenade in Eastbourne in October 2014. Sussex Police described Kurian as a "sexual predator". 'Long ordeal' Three of the sex attacks took place at Worthing Hospital between 2013 and 2015. He also sexually assaulted a 19-year-old woman in Hampden Park, Eastbourne, in April 2015. The assault by beating took place at Eastbourne District General Hospital in January 2015. None of his victims were patients. Det Insp Neil Ralph said Kurian was a "sexual predator who targeted women both in the workplace and in public". "Today's sentence brings a successful resolution to what has been a long ordeal for the victims involved." Kurian was sentenced to 12 years for the rape, two years to run consecutively for one sex assault charge and two years each, to run concurrently, for the other four counts. He also received a sixth-month jail sentence for the assault by beating which is to run concurrently.

A SEX offender with links to Wiltshire is on the run.

Police are hunting Krzysztof ODonnell, also known as Krystoff ODonnell, 33, for failing to comply with the Sex Offenders Notification Requirements.

The 33-year-old was last seen in Bristol on January 28 and also has links to South Gloucestershireand South Wales.

He is described as a white eastern European man, 6ft 1ins, of proportionate build, with shoulder-length fair/brown curly hair, with a moustache and goatee-style beard, with blue eyes.

He is originally from Poland and speaks with a Polish accent.

Police are advising the public not to approach him, but to report any sightings of him immediately via 999.

Robert Neill, 63 of Park Lane, Thatcham, carried out a series of sexual assaults at Kennet School where he worked between 1986 and 2003. A school PE teacher who chose vulnerable boys who took his fancy to prey on and sexually abuse has been jailed for 21 years for raping a pupil. Robert Neills wife blew him a kiss across the courtroom as the 63-year-old was led down to the cells on Wednesday, March 9, after a judge described how he had left an indelible mark on his victims, some as young as 11. The paedophile, of Park Lane, Thatcham and who was a housemaster at the school, was sent to prison for more than two decades for sexually assaulting boy pupils where he worked for 17 years. He worked at Kennet School in Thatcham, when he carried out the severe sexual acts, which included a rape. Sitting at Reading Crown Court Judge Angela Morris described the 63-year-old as a man who preyed on the youngest and most vulnerable pupils at his school to carry out his abuse which left an indelible mark upon them. The teacher would single out the youngest boys in their academic years and also naughty pupils before demanding that they paid him a visit in his office. Acting as the head of St Michaels House at the Berkshire school, he would inflict his abuse during the office visits within the grounds of the school.

A TEENAGER was jailed for four and a half years after admitting a string of sex offences - including raping a 12-year-old girl.

Bradley Hall, 18, from Darlington, was 16 when he asked the girl to his house before having sex with her.

He also had a six-week sexual relationship with a "vulnerable" underage girl when he was 17, which led to her later attempting suicide.

And he had more than 60 indecent images of a 17-year-old girl - itself an offence - on his phone when it was seized, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Sarah Mallett, prosecuting, said the 12-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had gone to her GP with her mother for emergency contraception and the GP had raised concerns with the police.

Hall had contacted the girl on social media, where she was listed as being 16 but she told him that she was just 12 years old.

Ms Mallett said: "She sent him pictures and they agreed to meet."

After they had sex he asked her to leave because his mother was returning home and she did not see him again. The victim felt he had taken advantage of her because he had told her he loved her.

He then started messaging a 13-year-old - and sent her explicit photos and videos of himself, the court heard, while she sent pictures of herself topless, through social media.

She told him she was 13, but he replied: "Age doesn't matter when you love someone."

The vulnerable 15-year-old victim he had a sexual relationship with had suffered from psychotic episodes, the court was told.

Ms Mallett said: "If she expressed reluctance (to have sex) he would say she was boring."

Richard Bennett, mitigating, said the 12-year-old victim was "a particularly vulnerable child".

But he said: "The defendant took issue that he deliberately targeted her because he didn't know of her background.

"He has pleaded guilty to rape which for any man is a huge thing to do.

"It is going to have a huge impact on the rest of his life. This is a statutory rape charge - this isn't a man who has forced himself on (the 12-year-old girl).

"He realised pretty quickly what he had done was very serious."

Hall has already served nine months on remand in Holme House Prison.

Judge Colin Burn said: "We have seen 14 offences taking place over a fairly narrow period of time when you were 16 going on 17.

"Two of the three girls were certainly extremely vulnerable. The reality is that both of them have suffered significantly. Any pre-existing problems have been made worse as a result of your quest for sexual gratification."

He jailed Hall for four years and six months, ordered his phone to be forfeited and served him with a restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Court hears he groomed girls with "truth or dare" games A convicted sex offender has been jailed for nine years after he abused two schoolgirls following a game of truth or dare in his home. Sentencing 50-year-old Carl Robert Whitehead at Leeds Crown Court Recorder Andrew Haslam said he had initially befriended the girls through their interest in his pet dog and then groomed them. You developed your association with both of these girls on social media such as Facebook and contacted them over their mobile telephones. He said Whitehead even paid for a top-up on one girls phone and they began visiting his home. One text message suggested he had offered them alcohol although he knew they were not old enough to drink, being 13 and 14. Recorder Haslam said a friend of Whitehead advised him to end the association and even contacted the police and they repeated that advice but he ignored them. I am satisfied you ignored that advice because you wanted to develop an association with both girls, although you knew they were under 16, for the specific reason of taking sexual advantage of them. You did that solely for the purpose of satisfying your own sexual desires. I am satisfied you groomed these girls for your own sexual purposes. He said it did not matter who suggested the game of truth or dare it developed as you wanted it to. There was kissing then he suggested they remove their clothes and finally his touching them sexually. Recorder Haslam said he believed Whitehead at least tried to go further, because he had subsequently bought them pregnancy testing kits and there was no other reason for that. He had also put the girls through a trial and accused them of fabricating their accounts which had added to their ordeal. His behaviour had clearly had a psychological impact on them. Whitehead, of St James Street, Heckmondwike, was found guilty by a jury on four charges of sexual activity with a child. Kirstie Watson prosecuting told the court had previous convictions for indecent exposure in 1988, 1989 and on April 15, 2011 as well as a conviction for gross indecency with a six year old child in 1990. Mathew Harding defending Whitehead said he still denied any offence against the girls. He had already found his experience in prison difficult being subjected to bullying.
