A callous and calculating killer who murdered three people in six days is facing life behind bars after being convicted of raping his final victim. Anthony Russell murdered mother and son Julie and David Williams, 58 and 32, at their flats before raping and killing Nicole McGregor, 31, who was pregnant and had shown him a baby scan. Despite knowing she was dead, he told Nicoles boyfriend: I bet you cant wait for it to be born. The murders took place in Coventry in October 2020 and Nicoles body was found in Leamington Spa three days after her death. After Russell was found guilty, police released footage of the moment he was found sleeping in a stolen car which he had been using as a hideout. Russells murder spree began on October 21 when he strangled David with a lanyard. Four days later he murdered Julie in a violent and sustained attack, hitting her repeatedly around the head and neck. He inflicted over 113 injuries on her and is believed to have killed her because she knew he had murdered her son. The following day, Davids body was discovered with 87 injuries Russell would later go on to say hed killed a man who had had sex with his girlfriend. The deaths sparked one of the biggest ever manhunts in the West Midlands. Detective Superintendent Shaun Edwards said: This was a violent series of killings which happened over a period of just seven days, but which have left two families devastated for the rest of their lives. We believe that David was killed due to Russells mistaken belief that he was in a relationship with his girlfriend. When Russell went to speak to Julie about her sons disappearance, we suspect that he confessed to Davids killing. He then killed Julie to stop her from speaking to the police. Theres no known link between Russell and Nicole, and it appears to be pure chance that he has encountered her. CCTV footage of Ms McGregor, who lived in a flat in Leamington, was played to the jury during the trial, showing her walking alongside Russell at 7.45pm on October 26. During her opening speech, prosecutor Zoe Johnson QC said of the footage: This is the last time Nicole is seen alive. Just three hours after meeting the defendant it appears that Nicole has agreed to walk with the defendant into Newbold Comyn. We suggest that the defendant lured Nicole on to the Comyn, not for sex but more likely for drugs. The defendant murdered Nicole McGregor shortly after that image was captured, just hours after they had met. After the murder, he pretended to help Ms McGregors partner look for her. The killer was eventually the subject of a national manhunt, and fled Leamington by robbing a 78-year-old man of his car. Russell rung the pensioners doorbell asking for directions, and when the victim was distracted he hit him over the head from behind with a brick, leaving him with a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain. The killer was arrested on October 30 after police spotted the stolen Ford C-Max parked on a road near Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, and found Russell on the back seat. While being booked into custody, he told officers: I admit it, I did it. Russell, from Coventry, will be sentenced on Friday.

A TWENTY-YEAR-OLD man arranged to meet an underage girl for sex, having spent months grooming her in online messaging, a court heard. Dave Hirchfield travelled from his home in Sheffield for the liaison with the girl in her home town in County Durham, on Wednesday February 9. Durham Crown Court heard that that several months earlier the girls mother discovered her daughter was exchanging messages on the internet with a man called Dave Hirchfield. Elizabeth Muir, prosecuting, said although the conversations were not sexual and there was no talk of a meeting, at that stage, she blocked him on her daughters phone, but did not take it further. But on February 9 the girl told her mother she was going out to a nearby shopping centre. Miss Muir said some time later her mother tried to ring her, but her daughters phone was switched off. But a second phone, of which the mother knew nothing, was found in her bedroom containing more sexualised messages with the same man, discussing plans to meet. Miss Muir said police were contacted and the girl was considered, a high-risk missing person. By 7.35pm that day she was spotted at the roadside and when spoken to, she seemed anxious. She told police said she had fallen over while running and walked into a lamppost, accounting for a bruised knee and marks on her coat. The girl was taken to a police station where her mother was waiting. Hirchfield was located not far away and when approached by police claimed to be, Bob from Dublin, and asked the way to a bus station. He was challenged as to his true identity and arrested. Miss Muir told the court the girl was spoken to by police that evening and the following day, and refused to give a statement, but from the messaging it was clear sexual contact was planned. It also emerged that Hirchfield wanted her to return to Sheffield to stay the night with him, but she made excuses why she could not go, as her mother would be suspicious and she had a hospital appointment the following day. Miss Muir said during their rendezvous Hirchfield had kissed the girl and touched her sexually, while he also performed a sex act on himself in her presence. In a further message he asked if she would be waiting for him for four years for when he comes out of prison. Hirchfield, of St Elizabeth Close, Sheffield, admitted engaging in sexual communication with a child, meeting a child following sexual grooming, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, and sexual assault. In a victim statement read to the court, the girls mother said she found it "heart-breaking" that her daughter could not talk about it with her and she felt it had affected her daughters previous bubbly personality. Ian West, in mitigation, said the defendant, of previous good character, had a difficult upbringing and has had a harsh introduction to the world of adult punishment while on remand in custody for the last month. Judge Ray Singh said despite being blocked from messaging the girl, in October, the defendant had not left it there and resumed communication, making concerted attempts to meet her, with the aim of having sexual contact. Imposing a 26-month sentence in a young offenders institution, the judge also made Hirchfield subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and registration as a sex offender, both for ten years.

A MAN with a previous conviction for sexually communicating with underage girls, briefly lapsed back to his former ways after making contact with what he was told was a 12-year-old female.

Durham Crown Court heard that Darren Thompson had not gone looking to communicate with an underage girl when he accessed an adult internet chat site on his mobile phone on January 13.

But having engaged in chat with someone describing herself as, Bored 18-year-old Tyne and Wear, the user informed him she was a 12-year-old.

Uzma Khan, prosecuting, said, unknown to Thompson, he was actually chatting to an undercover police officer.

He quickly moved the messaging onto snapchat and was sent an image portraying a 12-year-old girl, but he responded by sending intimate images of himself, one after having apparently performed a sex act.

Miss Khan said within days of the chat it was found Thompson had deleted the account, in breach of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), imposed after he received a suspended prison sentence for his previous offending, at Durham Crown Court in 2016.

The terms of the order prohibited him from deleting his internet history.

Thompson was arrested and interviewed, and made admissions over his online activity, at a time when he said he was, feeling low.

Miss Khan said Thompson told police he just wanted to communicate with anyone, and, it could have been a child, or anyone, but he accepted he continued even when told of the supposed age of the girl he believed he was chatting to, on January 13.

He told police he regretted it and told them he wanted counselling to address his sexual attraction to children.

The 36-year-old defendant, of Dorset Crescent, Moorside, Consett, admitted attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and breaching a SHPO.

Chris Morrison, in mitigation, said Thompson was using an open forum and his intention was, not to target a minor.

Having become clear he was chatting with what he thought was a 12-year-old he felt deeply ashamed and deleted the conversation and the material on his phone before police, got in touch.

There was no attempt to cover any of his other internet activity.

Mr Morrison said, on any objective view, this was a victimless crime, which could not be considered, persistent.

He added: It was an aberration, a foolish and self-destructive act.

Imposing a 14-month prison sentence, Judge James Adkin told Thompson: The problem is you seem unable to prevent yourself from behaving in this way.

The existing SHPO will remain in place, but Thompson is now subject to registration as a sex offender for life.

A DUNFERMLINE lady flashed a knife as she yelled in the street after bombarding a guy with sex texts following a room-renting fraud.

Louise Ramsay, 34, of Kellock Avenue, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for sentence on a number of charges.

She previously admitted to stealing 340 in cash on December 1st of last year, 525 on February 12th, and 350 on February 28th of this year.

She also stated that on March 7, she sent a guy a series of sexually explicit text messages.

Ramsay also acknowledged to shouting and swearing while wielding a knife on Christmas Eve at Abel Place.

Ramsay has previously admitted to stealing money from customers after advertising her spare room for rent on Craigslist.

One of the victims was also subjected to sexually explicit texts.

"The thefts relate to the accused renting out a spare room at her home." depute fiscal Jill Currie earlier told the court.

People would agree to stay there and pay a deposit, but they would not be permitted to move in until they were repaid.

Ramsay advertised the hotel on the 'Spare Room' website as well as on Facebook.

In one case, after paying for the accommodation, a young guy began getting erotic texts from Ramsay.

According to the deputy, he felt "uncomfortable" and "asked her to remain professional."

She then requested additional money from him, but he declined.

Her sex texts kept coming.

Youre grown-up for your age but I like that, she said, adding that his youth "turns me on."

Before going into graphic detail, Ramsay made jokes about his genitalia and stated she could teach him a thing or two

According to the deputy, she proceeded in this vein, and the man felt this was extremely inappropriate

He demanded his money returned, but Ramsay provided a series of reasons as to why she wouldn't be able to do so in the coming weeks.

Ramsay was shouting and screaming on the street on Christmas Eve, clutching a knife that she flung to the ground and picked up multiple times.

She was shouting: Ive got mental health.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said: She seems to have got it into her head that she was being followed. She had taken cocaine to excess. Its a fairly sad tale.

The social work report advised that Ramsay be sent to a mental institution for her own benefit, but Sheriff Charles Macnair declared he would not do so.

He instead imposed an eight-month restriction of liberty order on Ramsay.

He also sentenced her to pay 900 in damages to the three persons who lost money in the fraud, as well as putting Ramsay on the sex offenders' registry.

A man from Oxford has today, Thursday, 10 March, been sentenced to 13 years in jail after being found guilty of four counts of serious child sex offences.

Henry Herbert Lenton, aged 36, from Barton Village Road in Oxford has been jailed for 13 years after being convicted of the following offences:

- 1 count of raping a child under 13

- 2 counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity

- 1 count of sexual assault of a child under 13

The charges relate to offences that took place against one child between January 2019 and January 2021 in Bordon.

Lenton denied the charges but following a four day trial at Winchester Crown Court in February, he was found guilty of all four counts.

Appearing at Winchester Crown Court today (Thursday, 10 March) Lenton was jailed for 13 years with a one year extended licence period.

In addition to his custodial sentence, Lenton will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

Following the sentence, Detective Constable James Copley from Hampshire Constabularys Child Abuse Investigation team said This was a horrific and prolonged period of abuse against a child.

I would like to commend the child for their courage in coming forward and telling us what happened and for their bravery throughout this investigation.

A RAPIST who escaped justice for two years after cops missed him during a DNA swab operation has now been convicted of child abuse. Police hunting the attacker of an 18-year-old girl in 2009 failed to take a sample from Michael Higgins. They took more than 700 swabs during the probe but stopped within half a mile of his house in Warminster, Wilts. He was eventually caught in April 2011 after his son was arrested for a minor offence and routinely swabbed and a family match was found. The builder was jailed for 6 years in November 2011 for rape. He has now been convicted of sexually assaulting a ten-year-old girl in 2020. In the witness box at St Albans Crown Court, Higgins told his barrister Nathalie Carter that he was known as Mucky, which was an old work name he was given when he was a hod carrier. Cross-examined by prosecutor Laura Blackband he said: I dont know where the allegations have come from. I dont know why she made this up. Higgins, 57, now of Chesham, Bucks, will be sentenced at Swindon crown court in June.

THE fall from grace of an ex-Radio 1 presenter is now complete as he is jailed for 12 years for grotesque child sex offences. Mark Page paid money to sexually exploit vulnerable Filipino children for his own depraved sexual gratification. The 63-year-old pervert even haggled over the price when he was arranging to have sex with a teenage boy and a 12-year-old girl. Teesside Crown Court heard how he signed up to an online dating agency, Filipino Cupid, before engaging in sexually explicit conversations with a young girl and offering to pay them to perform sex acts. Page then travelled to the Philippines with the intention of fulfilling his sexual fantasies of sexual abusing young girls and a teenage boy. Judge Paul Watson QC told the defendant that he was a serial sexual offender over a three-year period. He said: The offence for which you have been convicted involve the grotesque sexual abuse of young children for your own sexual gratification. You took advantage of their poverty and deprivation in an under-developed country where children are routinely forces through deprivation into acts of prostitution. Your sole purpose was to engage children, as young as 12, in vile sexual activity to satisfy your perverted appetites. "It did not matter to you that you were robbing them of the innocence of their childhoods, it did not matter to you what long-term trauma and emotional damage you were leading them to. "You obviously delighted in their humiliation and the satisfaction of your own corrupt sexual desires. This was, in my view, the very embodiment of depravity and only a substantial custodial sentence can be justified. The judge told Page that if his offences had occurred in this country he would have been facing charges of rape where sexual activity took place. The defendant was found guilty of four charges of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence between August 2016, and April 2019. He was cleared of a fifth charge. Hiding behind his charity work and radio businesses, Page made regular visits to the Far East but also took full advantage of Skype calls to fulfil his depraved sexual behaviour by paying children to perform sex acts online. He used a number of aliases to set up dating website profiles and Skype accounts in an attempt to mask his true identity, the jurors heard during the trial. Page shared a number of messages with a woman called LovelyZamora7 while he was making arrangements for children to be sent to his hotel when he travelled to the Philippines. In a series of explicit messages before his arrival and after he stayed at a hotel in the Makati area, Page asked the girl to arrange for him to have sex with a 12-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy. Jo Kidd, prosecuting, said payments made from Pages credit card showed the cash had been sent to an account based in the Philippines. Records from Western Union showed how Page made 164 payments to individuals in the Far East, including Thailand and Philippines, over a number of years. The jury heard there was a number of messages between Page and the girl where they are discussing how much it would cost to meet up. Several hours later, there was another message from Page simply saying thanks babe. Throughout the trial Page, of Snowdrop Close, Stockton, maintained that his online accounts had been hacked as someone tried to frame him for the sex crimes. He was also made subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.

A sex predator who raped a young woman after the victim said he molested her in a hot tub was warned on Thursday he faces a lengthy jail sentence.

Paul Woods, 53, followed the 22-year-old into a house and attacked her as she lay on a bed pretending to sleep.

The distraught woman fled after she was subjected to the rape ordeal wearing only a towel, the High Court in Edinburgh heard.

Woods, of Preston Crescent, Prestonpans, East Lothian, had denied assaulting and raping the woman in September 2019, but was found guilty of the crime by a majority verdict of the jury.

During the attack he moved the woman on to her back and tapped her on the face before raping her. Woods later told police that he thought she was asleep.

A judge agreed to continue his bail for the preparation of a background report on the first offender ahead of sentencing.

But Lord Tyre told Woods: "You should be aware it is extremely unlikely that I am going to do anything other than pass a substantial custodial sentence when you come back for sentencing."

The judge placed him on the sex offenders' register and told jurors at his trial that it was a "serious" case.

The court heard that the woman and Woods had been drinking and shared a hot tub with others at a house in an East Lothian town.

But the woman, who was wearing a swimsuit, said that he had touched her in the tub, leaving her shocked. She left and went into the house from the garden, saying she was going to bed.

Woods followed her into the house and she thought that if she pretended she was sleeping he would leave her alone.

After the assault on her the woman grabbed a towel and wrapped it around her and ran out. She was seen shaking and crying. She was still crying and wrapped in the towel when she was later seen by a police officer.

Woods was linked to the attack on the woman by DNA evidence that was recovered after the rape of the woman.

Advocate depute Derick Nelson told jurors that when all the pieces of evidence were put together they were left with "a compelling, overwhelming case against Paul Woods".

During an interview with police Woods had denied any sexual wrongdoing, the court heard.

A dangerous, violent rapist who 'degraded' his victim and forced her to have sex with others in a horrific campaign of abuse has been jailed for 18 years. Philip Daly's sickening abuse against his victim included forcing her to have sex with himself and another man while she was blindfolded and bound. He also beat her following horrific bouts of rage and cut her communication from her family and friends, and stole her money. His victim says her life 'is a constant black cloud' and that she would never get over what Daly did to her. "He cannot be helped. He is not remorseful for his actions," she said. "I will never really get over this ordeal and in time, somebody else is likely to be hurt by him." Sickening abuse Minshull Street Crown Court heard how Daly, 42, carried out the sickening physical, mental and sexual abuse over a number of years. He isolated her from her family and friends, smashing her phone and ripping up her passport, and stopped her from spending money by taking her cards away. He also beat her a number of times, throwing her against a chest of drawers and attacking her with a walking stick when she refused to send him money. He even helped to set up a cash for crash and made her make a personal injury claim so he could take the money from her. As details of his abuse was laid bare, the court also heard of harrowing instances in which he raped her alongside friends, which she felt she could not refuse for fear of further beatings. On one occasion, the court was told that Daly had bound her hands and blindfolded her before forcing her to have intercourse with himself and another man. The woman was left fearing for her life and she was transformed from a 'bright and bubbly' woman to one who lost weight and began suffering from seizures and nightmares, the court heard. 'He degraded her' Prosecuting, Ms Vanessa Thomson said: "He belittled her, he controlled her movements and he took her financial independence from her. More significantly, there were regular bouts of violence towards her, to the point where she would seek immediate help from those closest to her. "Daly not only abused her with his fists and his feet but he would degrade and humiliate her sexually by forcing her to engage in sexual activity with his friends. The force used was mental rather than physical on these occasions. But she knew that to not do as she was told would result in a further beating." He also stopped her from going to the police, the court heard, and made her lie about where she had received the bruises from. In a powerful victim impact statement, read out in court, the woman said she 'lives in fear' of Daly and that he had destroyed a part of her life. "I always feel like I need to look over my shoulder," she said. "He cannot be helped. He is not remorseful for his actions. I will never really get over this ordeal and in time, somebody else is likely to be hurt by him. "My life is a constant black cloud and I am not sure how I continue to go forward without these thoughts in my mind. I regularly have nightmares about the traumatic events that he put me through, upon waking up from these nightmares I'm in a state of panic and a sense of having to be on high alert in case he's there". Daly was found guilty of all 16 offences at trial in October 2021, namely eight counts of actual bodily harm, one count of controlling and coercive behaviour, two counts of rape and five counts of cause/incite to engage in penetrative sexual activity. Sentencing, Judge Nicholas Clarke QC cited that a psychiatric report during his time in custody showed that Daly had no understanding to the extent he had harmed the victim. He said: At trial you claimed you were not guilty, and a report shows you appear not to understand what has happened, or to the extent that you have harmed the victim. You took total control over her life which enabled you to commit the serious offences for which you have been convicted. This was a campaign over many years of violence, control and rape, against an extremely vulnerable woman. I hope in due course she can start to move on from this, but it will take many years before she can even start to make anything like a recovery from these awful events. 'He is a dangerous and very manipulative man' Mr William Staunton, defending, submitted a letter from Daly to the judge, in which he claimed Daly was trying to express his remorse and that he had attended anger management courses. He added: This is a man who has never been to prison before and understands that a custodial sentence is inevitable. He expresses his remorse to her and realises he has caused the victim pain, hurt and suffering. He fully regrets his actions and accepts it was all his doing and responsibility. This is a man who is capable of change he is in a fit and clear state of mind, given what appear to already be positive steps to prove himself." Daly, of Trafford, was handed an 18 year custodial sentence, however, for which he must serve 12 before being eligible for parole. He will also spend a further five on license. Detective Constable Charlotte Morgan, of GMPs Complex Safeguarding Hub, said,: "Daly's sustained and deplorable campaign of domestic abuse, left the victim feeling like her life would never be the same again with nowhere to turn to. He is clearly a dangerous and very manipulative man and I am pleased that he is facing justice for what he has done. I would very much like to thank the victim for her bravery and cooperation throughout this investigation. "I'd like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who is suffering abuse to please get in touch with the police or another support service. A paedophile claimed he sent a decoy posing as a 13-year-old girl explicit photos and sexual messages as an escape from the stress of his dad dying from cancer. Alex McDonald, 20, first messaged Amber on February 9 last year, asking on Kik if she wanted a tribute a type of sex act someone films and sends on. Despite Amber saying she was 13, McDonald carried on sending pictures and videos of his penis and lied that he was 16, saying: Is that bad, or are you fine with it? When she told him its up to you, he said: I mean, Im fine with it just making sure youre not scared. Liverpool Crown Court heard McDonald sent more nude photos, along with others clearly showing his face, and encouraged her to perform a sex act before the messages stopped on March 19. Police went to his home in Walton, where he lived with his parents, a week later and his mum identified him from one of the selfies. Officers seized his two iPhones and a tower computer, before he attended a voluntary police interview on September 20. He gave a prepared statement, in which he admitted talking to Amber and accepted his actions were unlawful and he knew she was 13. McDonald said he was ashamed before answering no comment to all further questions. He was jailed for 20 months after pleading guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, attempting to cause a child aged 13 to 15 to look at an image of sexual activity, and attempting to cause a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity. Defending, David Birrell told the court: He was at a low ebb in his life at the time he committed these offences. He was at home, essentially isolating, caring for his terminally ill father. His father has stage four cancer, which has spread throughout his body and, frankly, he has not long left. Hes lived beyond the prognosis he was given, which was 12 months, and the defendant was struggling emotionally and turned to alcohol. He sought to escape I suppose online and it was against that background that he committed these offences. Mr Birrell told the court McDonalds mum had written a letter saying he is a decent person and calling his behaviour a one-off. He said the author of a pre-sentence report believed McDonalds dads cancer may very well have contributed to this offending and suggested his risk could be managed in the community with a sex offender treatment programme. But Judge Anil Murray told McDonald that in his chats with Amber, you made it clear you werent bothered about her being 13. He also observed McDonald said he didnt remember the conversations, denied having any sexual interest in children and said he didnt think the chats were illegal at the time. The judge added: Youre now in a relationship with someone. I note you havent told her about this case. He went on: Im not convinced youre a realistic prospect of rehabilitation. You continue to say you cant remember what you did. You say you cant remember the conversations. You say you have no sexual interest in children. All of those contentions seem very unlikely to me. McDonald was also ordered to sign on the Sex Offenders Register and comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.

Police have been given more power to monitor a sex offender's internet use.

Caernarfon Magistrates heard it was "imperative" to protect the public.

Geraint Rowlands, 61, of Cleveland Avenue, Tywyn, had already been convicted of possessing indecent images in 2017 and received a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

But today he pleaded guilty at Caernarfon Magistrates Court to breaching that order after showing an interest in six apps and websites. These were Chaturbate, Google Hangouts, MeWe, Trillian, Flickr and Discord between March 2, 2020 and June 18, 2021.

Police lawyer Gareth Preston then applied to the bench for the SHPO to be varied so police could add risk management monitoring software to his devices, if they wish.

It was "imperative" that they did so, he added.

Magistrates chairman Julie Eddows granted the application.

The prosecutor Nicola Williams told the court that last year the police had received information that an allegedly indecent image had been uploaded to the internet from a device. The device was linked to the defendant's address.

So on June 17 last year officers arrived at Rowlands' home to check his devices. Analysts later found a number of searches and keywords indicating a sexual interest in children on his mobile phone and laptop.

The searcher had used the persona "Carol" - something which Rowlands had done previously, the court heard.

The prosecutor told magistrates: "Despite previous rehabilitative efforts provided to the defendant the offending continued."

After his guilty pleas to breaches of the order, she applied for the case to be committed to Crown Court for sentencing.

Magistrates chairman Ms Eddows said the bench's sentencing powers were insufficient in this case and agreed to grant that application.

She adjourned the case for a sentencing hearing at Caernarfon Crown Court on April 1 and extended Rowlands' unconditional bail.

A South Yorkshire sex offender who deliberately breached a court order designed to prevent him from committing more sexual offences has been put behind bars. As she jailed defendant Daniel Bartlett for 26 months, Judge Rachael Harrison told him his offending amounted to a deliberate and concerted, planned decision to breach his court order. Sheffield Crown Court heard during a March 9 hearing how Bartlett, 41, from Doncaster, was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for two years, in August 2020 for sexually communicating with a 12-year-old child. Bartlett was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), the purpose of which is to protect the public from sexual harm. As part of the order, Bartlett was required to adhere to a number of conditions including one which stipulated he must hand over any device he owns with access to the internet, when requested to do so by the police. Prosecuting barrister, Stuart Bell, said Bartlett was visited by a police officer on May 11 last year, who asked him to provide her with his internet-enabled devices. Bartlett said he only had one such device, a mobile telephone, which promptly turned itself off immediately after he gave it to the officer, the court heard. He was visited by the police again on September 16 last year, handed over one mobile phone and said he did not have any others. Bartlett was arrested just over two months later on November 17 on suspicion of breaching the SHPO, and was found to own five internet-enabled mobile phones. Judge Harrison said Bartlett had been using the devices to connect with others for sexual activity, and continued by saying she found it particularly concerning that he had been communicating with two women with children, one of whom had a 15-month-old baby. Bartlett, of Bainbridge Road in Balby, Doncaster pleaded guilty to charges of breaching a sexual harm prevention order and failing to comply with notification requirements at an earlier hearing. In mitigation, Edward Moss said Bartletts life as he knew it has just basically come to an end as a result of his offending. Judge Harrison reactivated four months of his suspended sentence from August 2020, and handed him another 22 months for his other offences, bringing his total sentence to 26 months.

A man has been jailed for seven years for sexually abusing two young girls in the 90s.

Alex Henney, from County Kenagh, Ireland, subjected two girls to multiple sexual assaults between 1995 and 1997.

Henny, who resided in Luton at the time of the incidents, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Friday (4 March), after being found guilty of three counts of indecent assault of a child.

Bedfordshire Polices Protecting Vulnerable Persons (PVP) unit carried out an investigation after a disclosure was made to police in 2018.

Following extensive enquires, Henney was extradited from Ireland to the UK for trial.

PC Benjamin Robertson, from the PVP unit, who lead the investigation, said: There is a huge focus in policing to bring to justice anyone involved in violence and abuse against women and girls.

Henneys victims have shown true courage and strength of character throughout the investigation and I commend their bravery in speaking up.

This hasnt been easy for either of the victims and their families to deal with.

Child sexual abuse is a most horrendous experience; it not only ruins their young years, but stays with them through into adulthood. We will never tolerate this type of crime in our county and will do all we can to support victims and put these perpetrators behind bars.

A rapist who filmed himself attacking one of his victims as she wept has been jailed for six years and three months. Peter Renton, 39, preyed on two women, who cannot be named for legal reasons, between April 2019 and June 2021. The attacks took place at addresses in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Musselburgh, East Lothian. At the High Court in Glasgow, judge Lady Scott described Renton as "intimidating, violent and controlling". She told him: "Your conduct showed behaviour which was designed to intimidate your victims - it included the filming of the assaults. "I am satisfied that you present a serious risk of harm to women and I am satisfied that in order to protect the public I must impose an extended sentence." The judge ordered that Renton must be supervised by the authorities for four years following his release from custody. Filmed on phone Renton had pleaded guilty to assault and rape charges in January this year. The court heard he met his first victim in mid-2018. He carried out five attacks on her at his home in Musselburgh and at an address in Aberdeen. In May 2020, Renton punched one of his victims at the flat in Musselburgh then ordered her into the bedroom. He grabbed her phone and used it to film himself raping the crying victim. She went to police in June 2020, but Renton moved on to another victim he had met on Facebook. This woman was then abused at her home in Broomhouse, Edinburgh. Renton was finally held by police in July 2021.
