A CONVICTED child sex offender has been jailed again for a string of offences.

Michael Fletcher-Flint who was imprisoned for two years in 2018 after a court heard how he used dating app Grindr to send explicit pictures to a 12-year-old boy who was in fact a decoy was sentenced on Tuesday at Sheffield Crown Court for four offences.

The 52-year-old, of Bonet Lane, Brinsworth, admitted two counts of sexual activity with a child and one each of sexual assault and inciting a child to engage in a sexual activity.

The offences were all committed in the Barnsley area between 2007 and 2009.

Fletcher-Flint (pictured) was jailed for 15 months and will also have to sign on the sex offenders register for ten years.

In 2018, he pleaded guilty to counts of attempting to engage a child in sexual communications, attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming and possession of a bladed article.

Former Isle of Wight man Robert Howart Duncan, who sexually abused 2 children, has been sentenced to 12 years behind bars.

Duncan, of Chapel Walk in Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussex but previously of Gurnard, near Cowes, first appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on 13th April last year facing a total of 4 historic charges; assault of a child under 13 by penetration, attempted rape of a child under 13 and 2 counts of non-penetrative sexual activity with a child.

The 61-year-old pleaded not guilty to all of the charges against him and the case went to trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court.

The court heard how Duncan, who previously worked for 2 local undertakers, had sexually abused the 2 underage girls with 1 of them suffering at the hands of the paedophile for a 6-year period. The youngest victim was just 8-years-old, with the offences taking place between 1999 and 2015.

On 21st March, a jury found him guilty on 3 counts but not guilty of the attempted rape. The case was sent to Portsmouth Crown Court for sentencing.

Appearing in the dock last Friday, Robert Duncan was sentenced to a total of 12 years behind bars and 1 year on licence. The judge also ordered him to sign on as a registered sex offender indefinitely and also made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order for an indefinite period.

It was decided that Duncan must serve a minimum of 8 years behind bars before he can apply for parole meaning he will be behind bars until at least 2030.

24 year old Thomas Cooper of Tame Street, Denton, was sentenced at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court to 3 years and 9 months imprisonment, as well as being subject to a 10 year sexual harm prevention order and his name on the sex offender register for life,

The court heard how in December 2021, Cooper had been communicating online with a girl that he had contacted after adding her on the social media platform SnapChat.

After grooming the victim online, he made arrangements to meet the girl and subsequently engaged in sexual activity with her on two separate occasions.

These incidents were later discovered by the victims family who alerted police.

On the 31st January this year, Cooper was arrested in the Ashton-Under-Lyne area and taken into police custody. In his interview, he blamed the victim for forcing him to engage in sexual activity against his will on both occasions.

During the investigation, detectives were able to obtain enough evidence which lead to Cooper eventually pleading guilty to the offences.

Detective Constable Mike Allen, of GMPs Tameside district complex safeguarding team, said: Cooper is clearly a predator prying on children for his own sexual pleasure.

Sexual offences often have a long lasting impact on victims and Greater Manchester Police is committed to preventing this harm. I would, therefore, like to use this opportunity to encourage any young person who is being contacted by an adult or whos aware of an adult inappropriately contacting a young person, to report it to an appropriate adult or agency so they can be safeguarded and supported and the suspect can be identified.

I hope this result today warns offenders that this behaviour will not be tolerated in Greater Manchester and that authorities here are committed to ensuring they face justice.

This is the face of paedophile Martyn Rodger, who tried to hide a new Chromebook from detectives just weeks after being given a court order requiring him to register digital devices with the police.

The 26-year-old was spared an immediate prison sentence last August for looking at indecent images of children.

But the judge imposed a sexual harm prevention order aimed at limiting his access to the internet and requiring him to register new digital devices with the police.

He breached the order within barely a month of its imposition. Rodger, whose financial affairs are managed by social services, asked for the money to buy a new laptop.

His social worker informed the police, who visited the mans Witney home on September 16 when the device still hadnt been logged with them.

Rodger initially lied, saying he had no new computer. When the device was found beneath his mattress he changed his story, claiming that he planned to register it the following day.

Jailing him for 18 months at Oxford Crown Court last week, Judge Maria Lamb told Rodger, of Eastfield Road, Witney: I am quite satisfied you knew perfectly well you should have notified [the police of] the existence of that Chromebook.

Brandon Foskett, 24, was secretly working as a night porter at the hotel after being described by Northumbria Police as a potentially dangerous person.

A dangerous sex offender was secretly working as a night porter in a busy tourist hotel and wedding venue after fleeing nearly 200 miles from his home.

Brandon Foskett was being monitored under a Risk of Sexual Harm Order when he disappeared to take up a job at the Dunkeld House Hotel.

Foskett, who has a record for dishonesty, violence and sexual offending, was also on the Sex Offenders Register when he was hired by the hotel.

Fiscal depute Elizabeth Hodgson told Perth Sheriff Court : "He is being managed in the community by Northumbria Police as a potentially dangerous person."

She said he failed to carry out his regular registration for three months before eventually turning up at the police station in Perth on 24 November to confess about his move to Scotland.

"He disclosed he was subject to the ROSHO. A systems check was carried out. The accused last notified police about his address in Newcastle on 9 August.

"The hotel manager confirmed he started employment as a night porter on 26 October and was residing in the staff accommodation."

Foskett told police: "I'll be honest with you - I was staying there for about a month. I didn't know who to contact."

Foskett, 24, a prisoner at Perth, admitted failing to notify the police about a change of address between 26 October and 24 November 2021.

Solicitor John McLaughlin, defending, told the court that Foskett had been kept in custody since his arrest and had served the equivalent of an 11-month period on remand.

"He had gone three years without work. His friend found work with the hotel and phoned to tell him work was available. He was working night shift and was never in the company of guests."

Sheriff William Wood told Foskett: "It seems you have managed to accumulate quite a large and varied record for someone relatively young.

"It seems that this is your second breach of the order and a custodial sentence is most appropriate. It is concerning you were able to obtain employment in a local hotel as a night porter and would have access to various parts of the hotel."

He jailed Foskett for ten months, but backdated the sentence so it would be covered by the period on remand and he would be released immediately.

A Hampshire teacher has been banned from the profession for life after he was convicted of a number of child sex offences. He was convicted at Salisbury Crown Court in January 2021.

Nicholas Maunders, 29, taught maths at Frogmore Community College in Yateley. He was employed at the school from September 2017 until his resignation in November 2019.

In Mach 2019, a pupil disclosed to the school that another student had been exchanging messages with a member of staff. The school informed Hampshire Constabulary and the Local Authority Designated Officer.

A day later Maunders was arrested in connection with the disclosure which had been made. He was suspended while the school and police carried out investigations.

On January 8, 2021, the former teacher was convicted at Salisbury Crown Court. Maunders was convicted of three counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

In a written response from Maunders, he said: "I admit that I have been found guilty by the court but I am still maintaining my innocence of all of the charges." A professional conduct panel of the Teaching Regulation Agency to determine his future in the profession was held on April 7.

It was found, following the "serious findings of an inappropriate sexual relationship with a child" that Maunders should be banned from the profession for life. Despite having a "good history" as a teacher, the panel found no evidence that his actions were not deliberate and the former teacher has not expressed any remorse for his actions.

Alan Meyrick, writing on behalf of the Secretary State, said in the report: "In my judgement, the lack of full insight or remorse means that there is some risk of the repetition of this behaviour and this puts at risk the future wellbeing of pupils [...] In my view, it is necessary to impose a prohibition order in order to maintain public confidence in the profession."

Maunders is banned from teaching indefinitely and cannot teach in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children’s home in England. The former teacher has a right to appeal to the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court within 28 days of the order being issued.

A twisted and perverted elderly man with a string of sex offences groomed and abused two young girls, leaving one victim suffering from nightmares and insomnia.

Raymond Paterson, 77, who had history for grooming young girls took advantage of his three victims and manipulated them after he had failed to change his ways following a mercifully low six-year prison sentence for raping another girl.

Creepy Paterson exploited the mother of two of his victims after the woman took pity on him after he told her that he had battled cancer, which she tried to help him with.

Paterson, from Hull, admitted two offences of sexual assault between March and November last year and four offences of breaching a sexual harm prevention order, between July and November.

Louise Reevell, prosecuting, said that Paterson twice tapped the younger of the two girls on her bottom and told her to be a good girl, making her feel uncomfortable and causing her to run away from where he was.

On earlier occasions, he kissed his fingers and touched her face every day for more than a month. The incidents had left the girl suffering nightmares and finding it difficult to sleep, according to Hull Live.

In separate incidents, Paterson sexually assaulted another girl after befriending her mother, who felt sorry for him and tried to help him after he told her that he had suffered cancer.

He grabbed and rubbed his hand on the girls chest area on three or four occasions and made sexualised remarks.

He also grabbed her face, rubbed her hand against his cheek and stroked her hair. She had been left suffering from anxiety.

Paterson allowed girls into his home in breach of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order made in July 2011 when he was jailed for six years for raping a girl under 13 and causing a girl to engage in sexual activity. He had convictions for 15 previous offences, nine of which were sexual offences.

David Godfrey, mitigating, said that a pre-sentence report on Paterson was grim reading and it seemed, from it, that he was in denial but he had made admissions. He is someone who accepts his offending, said Mr Godfrey.

Paterson had, apart from these offences, led a decent existence but his 2011 conviction was worrying. He hoped to move into sheltered accommodation when he was released from prison.

He is somebody who has distorted views, that is clear, said Mr Godfrey. He wanted to say sorry. He feels bad about what he has done and he regrets what he has done.

Judge John Thackray QC told Paterson: In 2011, you received a mercifully low sentence of six years imprisonment for very serious offences, including the rape of a child under 13.

Despite receiving that mercifully low sentence, you have gone on to commit further offences against children.

I have no doubt, and the probation service have no doubt, that you represent a very high risk of causing sexual harm to children. During an eight-month period of 2021, you set about targeting young children.

You set about befriending a woman who you knew had children. You were manipulative and dishonest in doing so.

Paterson was jailed for three years after being branded a dangerous offender. He will be on extended licence of five years after his release from prison.

A man from Middleton, has been jailed for 8 years after an investigation into online child sexual offences after appearing at Minshull Street Crown Court yesterday, 3 May 2022.

Denis Atkinson, of Millbeck Road, pleading guilty to the following offences:

1x count of attempting to meet a child under the age of 16.

4x counts of attempting to sexually communicate with a child.

1x count of attempting to incite a child under 13 to engage in penetrative sexual activity.

1x count of possessing an image of extreme pornography.

1x count of possessing 5x prohibited images of children.

3x count of distributing category A,B and C indecent images of children.

3x count of making a total of 4,035 indecent images of children ranging from category A-C.

He is being placed on the sex offender register for life and being subject to a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).

On the 14th June 2019, police received intelligence from the USA based 'National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children' (NCMEC) who stated that in November 2018, a user on the 'Kik.com' messaging app using the name 'denismufc93' posted an indecent photograph of a child, which was intercepted by the NCMEC before being passed to the UK based National Crime Agency.

Further enquiries established that the mobile phone connected to the Kik account was registered in the name of Atkinson at his home address in Middleton.

Shortly after this discovery, Atkinson began to communicate online with the decoy profile of a 12 year old girl which was controlled by law enforcement. He messaged the profile using the name 'Warren' with a profile photo of a male in his late teens. Atkinson informed the child profile that he was 18-years-old and did not react to the child profile informing Atkinson that she was 12.

Conversation of a general nature took place before Atkinson eventually started to turn the conversation to be more sexualised, asking the child profile 'so are we dating' and asking if they could meet in Cardiff, suggesting that the profile bring along a friend that he could speak to beforehand to get to know them.

Over the following month, Atkinson became persistent in asking the child profile for pictures, again regularly asking if they were now dating and stating that he loved her and wanted to have sex when they met.

Atkinson's behaviour continued to escalate by asking the child profile sexualised questions asking about her sexual history and what sexual acts she would perform on him.

Atkinson was reminded on a number of occasions that the child profile was 12-years-old and in foster care.

In July 2020, Atkinson told the child profile that he would arrange to stay in a hotel with her with further sexual comments being made by Atkinson. On the 7th August 2020,

Atkinson sent a number of messages to the child profile, in which he confirmed that he was due to set off to the arranged location where they would meet, at which point the child profile explained that they were unable to meet him. Atkinson stated ' We will have to meet some other time'.

Numerous chat logs seized by police as evidence showed that Atkinson had a clear interest in underage girls and on Wednesday 2nd December 2020, officers from GMPs Online Child Abuse Investigation Team attended Atkinson's address and arrested him before he was subsequently charged with the offences.

A number of mobile phone devices were seized from Atkinson's home address and upon examination, thousands of indecent images of children were found including around 836 categorised as 'Class A', the most serious category of images. Atkinson also attempted to sexually communicate with a large number of underage children using several different messages apps, adopting numerous fake male and female personas.

In police interview Atkinson commented 'I can't remember' and 'It wasnt me I must have been hacked' to the questions presented to him, before then stating 'everything is true, you dont need to go through it anymore'.

Detective Inspector Suzanne Keenaghan, of GMPS Online Child Abuse Investigation Team, said: "Atkinson is very clearly a danger to children. His messages to who he thought was a 12-year-old girl, together with his clear intentions to meet a child and the images that he possessed, to satisfy his depraved sexual desires is utterly deplorable

"Child Sexual Exploitation takes place in many forms and in this case Atkinson engaged in online communications with what he believed were young children, not sparing any thought for the lasting damage his actions could have.

I am pleased with the sentence he has received, which has been as a result of a thorough investigation working with the National Crime Agency. Our team work tirelessly to bring these people to justice and we will continue to do so."

Joshua Corless, who has been caged for 13 years, offered to take the 19-year-old woman home before carrying out a sickening attack.

A predator who took an unwell woman home after a night out went on to subject her to a horrendous sexual assault.

Joshua Corless met up with the group on a night out in 2020 and then raped the defenceless 19-year-old in her own home. The brute offered to take his victim back to her house after she had become extremely unwell.

Corless, offered to walk with the victim, going to her home address before carrying out his despicable attack. The victim reported the incident to police and Corless was arrested and charged with rape.

He initially denied the charge, only changing his plea after the woman went through the trauma of giving evidence in court, according to Lancashire Live.

Corless, from Widnes, has now been jailed for 13 years for the rape and other offences committed in Cheshire.

He has also been made subject of notification requirements - informally known as the sex offenders register - for life.

Det Sgt Diane Higham, of Lancashire Police, said: Joshua Corless is a sexual predator who targeted his victim, exploiting her vulnerable nature for his own depraved ends.

He pursued her, playing on the fact she was unwell to commit a horrendous sex attack.

I must thank the victim for her bravery in reporting the offences and facing her abuser through the court process.

I also wish to place on record my thanks to the investigating officer Det Con Kieran Helps, who fully supported the victim throughout.

This investigation highlights our commitment to preventing and detecting offences of rape and serious sexual assault.

We want victims to feel confident that they will be treated with compassion and that we will do everything possible to trace those responsible and take action against them.

A FORMER councillor has been placed on the sex offenders register after changing his plea on the day he was due to stand trial for child sex offences.

William Kirkbride, 57, of Queen Street, Whitehaven, faced charges of attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence and engaging in sexual communication with a child.

In an agreed basis of plea with the prosecution, Kirkbride pleaded guilty to attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence on October 27 last year.

He had pleaded not guilty to the charges at a pre-trial hearing held on February 8.

A trial was due to take place at Carlisle Crown today.

The case has now been adjourned until June 10, to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared by the Probation Service.

Kirkbride, who was described as "a man of previous good character" has been bailed until his next court appearance.

Recorder Mark Ainsworth, warned Kirkbride that "all options were open" when passing sentence.

He told the defendant: "The fact I'm giving you bail shouldn't give you an indication of your sentence on June 10. That will be a matter for the judge to decide on the day. All options remain open."

In the meantime, Kirkbride must not have any unsupervised contact with children, must not use any internet sites to have contact with anyone under 18 and must reside at a named address.

A woman who twice had sex with a schoolboy has been jailed.

Laura Stephenson, 28, from Rotherham, exchanged "flirty" messages with the 15-year-old before they had sex at her home while her boyfriend was away.

Sheffield Crown Court was told the boy suffered mental health issues as a result of what happened in 2018.

Stephenson, who admitted two counts of sexual activity with a child, was jailed for 21 months and put on the sex offenders register for 10 years.

When interviewed, Stephenson admitted the pair had sex, but she argued it was consensual and although she felt guilty, attempted to blame her victim, South Yorkshire Police said.

Investigating officer Natalie Duffy said: "Stephenson claimed she knew her actions were wrong due to the boy's age, but this wasn't enough to stop her.

"Instead she presented a number of excuses for her perverse actions."

She added: "I would like to praise the victim for the tremendous courage he has shown throughout the investigation and court proceedings."

Stephenson, of Windmill Road, Rotherham, was also handed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and ordered to pay victim costs of 140.

A paedophile drove 400 miles to meet a 13-year-old girl for sex who he warned would "hurt the first time".

Christopher Marshall, 60, was found with a balaclava, knife and Viagra-style tablets in his car when he arrived in Derbyshire to meet a child who did not exist.

Marshall, who had also sent explicit photographs of his private parts a second 12-year-old girl, was caught in Chesterfield by a self-styled paedophile hunter group.

The dad-of-two from Dundee believed 'Leah' had run away from home but the teen turned out to be decoy and police were called to the arranged meeting place.

Jailing Marshall for three-and-a-half years, Recorder Michael Auty QC said: "There is a real and genuine concern to protect children from those who seek sexual intercourse with them. There is a world of difference between those who fantasise online and those who go through with it.

"It is where people stop and you didn't. It is clear to me from the items you had with you in the car there was an intention to carry out a penetrative sexual offence with this girl if the opportunity arose. That she was a decoy and not a real child is mitigation."

Jon Fountain, prosecuting at Derby Crown Court, sitting at Nottingham Crown Court, said a paedophile vigilante group called Demon Hunters set up a decoy Facebook profile for a 12-year-old called Tia in September last year.

He said Marshall sent her a friend request which was accepted and the two began exchanging messages. The prosecutor said the decoy told him she was unhappy at home and so he suggested she move in with him in Scotland, bringing her birth certificate with her.

Mr Fountain said: "He then made friends with one of her Facebook friends called Leah, who was also a decoy. He sent her photographs of his (private parts) and asked her if she would like to play with it.

"He asked her about her genitalia and this continued for about 10 days. She said she had run away from home and so he said he would come from Dundee to Derbyshire and meet her.

"But when he arrived in Chesterfield he was met by the hunter group. They called the police who arrested him, searched his car and found four Viagra-style tablets, a balaclava and a knife. He said he had the balaclava as it was issued at work and on checking, his workplace confirmed this."

Marshall, of no fixed address and who appeared over a video-link from HMP Nottingham, pleaded guilty to attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming, attempting to engage a child in sexual communication and possession of a bladed article. He has no previous convictions.

Fergus Malone, mitigating, argued that his client could be better managed in the community and not behind bars.

He said: "He lost his way. His mother died and his partner, the mother of his two children, also died in 2018. This has been his first time in prison and he is on a vulnerable person's wing."

As well as the jail term, Recorder Auty handed the defendant a lifetime sexual harm prevention order and placed him on the sex offender register for life.

A Luton man has been jailed for eight years after he pleaded guilty to 28 offences against girls aged between 12-15 years.

Conor Godfrey, 28, of Barton Road, admitted to a number of charges, including engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a child, inciting children to engage in sexual activity and making and distribution of indecent images of children.

Following a two-year investigation by Bedfordshire Polices Internet Child Abuse Investigation Team (ICAIT), he was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Thursday (28 April).

The investigation followed a report from a 13-year-old girl Godfrey had groomed online to perform sexualised acts on herself, using Snapchat. Investigations identified he was talking to over 2,250 children across the world online, including hundreds in the UK.

Seven victims provided accounts to police. Godfrey had met one 14-year-old girl on multiple occasions and performed sexual acts on her.

Godfrey, who was aged between 21 and 27 when the offences took place, posed as a 1618-year-old online to groom and gain vulnerable victims trust.

In May 2020, officers arrested Godfrey and subsequently seized several electronic devices.

On the devices were records of multiple sexual conversations with young girls where he recorded his interactions with them, which he would later use to threaten them.

Investigators also found he had accessed other indecent images of children on the internet, as well as having indecent material of the victims.

Godfrey was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison with a four-year extended sentence on licence. He was deemed a dangerous offender and will be subject to sexual harm prevention order for an indefinite period.

Investigation Officer Emma Shipton, who led the operation, said: He clearly poses a danger to young girls both online and offline and I hope this result sends a clear message that such activity is taken extremely seriously, and perpetrators will face the consequences for their disturbing and vile behaviour.

I would especially like to thank the victims and their families for their support in bringing this abhorrent man to justice.

A MAN from Hampshire has been jailed for 10 years after he was convicted of rape of a girl aged u David Thomas, 77, from Aldershot Road, Fleet, was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court on Friday 29 April following a week-long trial.

He was also found not guilty of another count of indecent assault.

The offences took place in Farnborough between 1984 and 1988. It was reported to police in 2020.

Detective Constable Michelle Carrig, from Operation Amberstone North, said: I hope this sentence has provided the victim with some element of closure, knowing that Thomas has been sentenced for a very long time.

Thomas committed harrowing crimes against the victim and I would like to praise her for showing courage by coming forward and contacting the police.

We take incidents like this extremely seriously and I would like to encourage any other victims, or anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse, or if they know someone who has been impacted by sexual abuse, to contact police on 101. nder 16.

A man has been sentenced to life imprisonment for inflicting "monstrous" sexual abuse on three girls.

Tony Wickstead, 46, was found guilty after a trial at Norwich Crown Court of a string of offences against the children, who were all under the age of 13.

One of the children has suffered physical harm as a result of the offending and might yet still require medical treatment for injuries she suffered.

In total, Wickstead, of Scott Road, Norwich, was found guilty of nine counts of serious sexual abuse against the victims, between 2016 and 2018.

The court heard how he had conducted a "a campaign of rape" against one of his victims, and was convicted of six offences of rape against one child.

Wickstead was also convicted of causing or inciting the child to engage in sexual activity.

He was also found guilty of two other offences of rape against two other children who were both under 13 at the time.

The court heard one of the victims - none of whom can be identified for legal reasons - "thought she was going to die" during the abuse she suffered, which involved her being handcuffed and dragged by her hair.

He also put his hands around her throat and "strangled her until he was done".

In imposing a life sentence on Wickstead, Judge Maureen Bacon ordered him to serve a total of 19 years and 92 days until he was eligible for parole.

Judge Bacon said the cruelty Wickstead inflicted upon his victims was "monstrous" and "inhuman" not only in the acts themselves but also the violence that accompanied them.

She said: "It's plain you used these children's bodies as mere devices for you to obtain depraved sexual gratification that you sought out."

Wickstead, who also admitted possession of an offensive weapon, a stun gun, when his home was searched in 2018, was considered a dangerous offender who posed a high risk of serious harm to young children.

Marc Brown, prosecuting, said the offences were extremely serious with one of the victims suffering severe physical harm as well as degradation.

Jonathan Goodman, representing Wickstead, said the defendant still maintains his innocence and so could not put forward much mitigation.

Mr Goodman added that Wickstead had "difficulties" in his early life.

Wickstead was put on the sex offenders register for life.

A depraved monster abducted a 14-year-old schoolgirl before raping her in his caravan, a court heard. Jason Hawkins, now 49, lured the child to the South West after they began chatting on the karaoke app StarMaker.

Hawkins drove to the West Midlands to pick her up - leaving her parents in a state of frantic worry. Plymouth Crown Court heard how the drug user sexually abused and raped her at a campsite in Devon.

As reported by Devon Live, Judge Simon Carr jailed the twisted man for 11 years. He spoke of he defendant's "depravity" in overpowering the teenager on his bed as she repeatedly told him to stop.

He said: "This escalated into an extremely manipulative, controlling and threatening relationship, where sexualised matters were discussed between a 48-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl." The court heard that Hawkins threw the girl's phone in the river as he moved her into his caravan.

However, police were able to catch up with him through details on the girl's computer. She had started using the singing app StarMaker - a social media channel popular with teenagers, especially girls.

Hawkins had also previously contacted officers himself. The defendant had complained before picking her up that she was being sexually abused by someone else.

He pleaded guilty to rape, sexual activity with a child and child abduction in November last year. He also admitted meeting a child following sexual grooming.

Hawkins, who has no previous convictions, will not be released until two thirds of the way through his sentence, at more than seven years.

Bathsheba Cassell, for the Crown Prosecution Service, said Hawkins paid the teenager compliments and at one stage claimed he had been a hero in secret services. Miss Cassell said that the conversation became sexual and they began exchanging sexual images of themselves.

The barrister added that in November Hawkins hired a car and drove to pick her up from a shop near her home in the Dudley area. Miss Cassell said her parents were "frantic with worry".

It was added that Hawkins moved her into his caravan. They watched television and went shopping together.

But he went on to perform a sex act and then went on to rape her. Miss Cassell read a statement from the girl which said that she had self-harmed and suffered flashbacks and sleepless nights.

The victim, who cannot be identified under the law., wrote: "I just feel so low after all of this. I just want to lie in bed all day. I have felt that I am worth nothing. I have hurt myself to get rid of this feeling. I have gone to sleep hoping that I would not wake up the next day."

William Parkhill, defending Hawkins, said that he had not intended to rape the girl when he drove to the West Midlands to pick her up. He added that the defendant had told the probation officer that he felt shame for his offending.

The barrister said that he did not want to make excuses. He added that Hawkins had lost his partner, his wider family and his job over the five years leading to the offence before spiralling into drugs misuse.

Mr Parkhill added: "He sought comfort and a life in the online world which he did not have in the real world and then matters progressed."

Judge Carr passed an indefinite restraining order banning Hawkins from contacting the girl in any way. He also made a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order to allow police to monitor his behaviour around children and on the internet. Hawkins will be on the Sex Offender Register for the rest of his life.

A paedophile has been jailed for more than two years after admitting child sexual offences.

Austin Paddock, of New Road, Bishops Waltham, had previously admitted sexual activity with a child and sexual communication with a child.

The offences took place in Hampshire between September 2020 and July 2021.

Appearing at Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday April 29, the 23-year-old was jailed for 27 months and is subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

A SEX offender arrived at Durham Railway Station expecting to meet a 14-year-old girl, with whom he believed he had been in communication, for a planned sexual encounter.

James Loades, 31, travelled from Northamptonshire, on March 2, and on arrival at the station sent a message to the girl saying he would visit her at home for a, kiss and cuddle, asking if she a virgin.

Durham Crown Court heard that in reality the girl did not exist and, unknown to Loades, he had been chatting with a decoy profile set up online by a woman posing as the 14-year-old.

As he sat waiting to meet the girl, police, who had been alerted, attended and he was arrested.

The court heard the planned visit took place less than three weeks after Loades release from a previous 14-month prison sentence for attempted sexual communication with a child.

Following his release, on licence, on February 11, he was visited by a police public protection officer and served with a copy of the Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) he was subject to, reminding him he was forbidden from having any contact with underage children.

But within days he was chatting to what he thought were two different girls, aged 14 and 13, as well as what was thought to be an actual girl, but who has not been traced.

One supposed 13-year-old, Lola, who accepted a friends request on February 25, was immediately flattered by Loades, who told her she would look good, in heels.

He offered to visit her to stay in a hotel and asked her to perform a sex act on herself, advising her to go into her mothers bedroom and find a sex toy, as well as sending the girl sexual images.

The court heard there was no actual attempt, by the time of his arrest, to meet this girl, while there was also messaging with another decoy, Hannah Smith, at about the same time.

In each case the girl would immediately tell Loades her age, and he responded that he was 31.

Loades told Hannah that girls her age were having sex and asking to see what underwear she was wearing.

The defendant, of Kettering, Northamptonshire, admitted four breaches of a SHPO, three counts each of attempting to cause/incite a girl aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity and attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, plus a single count of attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming.

Lewis Kerr, for Loades, said it had to be remembered the offences were classed as attempts as all but one of the would-be victims did not exist.

But Judge James Adkin said: Its pretty obvious what his intention was being at Durham.

Hes done just about everything he could to commit them, by meeting with this girl, albeit, it wasnt a child.

Judge Adkin said his pre-sentence Probation Service report flagged up pretty serious concerns about his entrenched behaviour.

Addressing Loades, Judge Adkin said: I take the view theres significant risk of you committing further specified sexual offences.

It must be observed, especially as this was so soon after your release, you seem unable to resist the compulsion to offend.

Due to that risk of causing serious harm to children the judge imposed a five-year and four-month prison sentence, with an extended licence period of three years.

His requirement to register as a sex offender and SHPO restrictions both continue for life.

A paedophile who downloaded an app to hide his internet search history has been jailed. Basil Al-Mudalal, 68, was caught out by police when they made a surprise visit to his home.

Al-Mudalal is a convicted sex offender who was banned from owning any device which did not retain information about what he had been looking at online. But when police analysed his devices they found pictures and films of children being sexually abused.

The defendant, of Silver Road, Street, was sent back to jail for his latest offences. Taunton Crown Court was told he still poses a risk of reoffending, despite previously completing a sex offender programme.

He admitted three offences of possessing indecent images of children and breaching the terms of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Al-Mudalal was jailed for 26 months.

Prosecutor Mr Paul Grumbar said police went to his house on February 22, 2022. Al-Mulalal gave police his phone. On it was an app called 'DuckDuckGo' which does not retain search history. No images were found on the device but downloading the app put him in breach of his SHPO.

Police then found a hard drive connected to his TV in his bedroom. Officers found multiple indecent images and movies but stopped counting at 1,000. They included material in the most serious category and the abuse of children as young as four.

The defendant has previous convictions for possessing indecent images and has served stints in prison. He was given the SHPO in 2017.

Mr Harry Ahuja, defending, said he was ashamed of his behaviour and wanted the chance to do the Horizon sex offender programme - even though he had previously completed the course in 2017.

He said Al-Mudalal had been in the UK for 50 years and had an income through rented property. He was worried that if he went to jail he would not be able to send his sister in Jordan 450 a month.

A report by probation assessed him as a high risk of reoffending and not manageable in the community.

Judge James Townsend said: "You've been convicted yet again of possessing images of serious child abuse. Quite clearly they were viewed by you until recently. It was a very large number of images involving significant number of victims.

"You have previously offended in precisely this way and continue to offend. Probation services have little confidence that future intervention is likely to stop you offending. You have attended the Horizon programme but further work is unlikely to achieve much."

Al-Mudalal will serve half of his sentence in prison and rest on licence. He will remain subject to the SHPO and sex offender register for 10 years.

A Wellingborough sex offender who was banned from contacting anyone under 16 has been jailed after chatting to girls at the Swansgate Shopping Centre.

Bradley Coulson, 21, was given a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) on July 7, 2020, after Northamptonshire Police brought a civil case against him because of concerns about his behaviour.

He was forced to abide by a number of conditions, including having no contact with anyone under the age of 16.

Breaching the terms of a SHPO is a criminal offence which is punishable by prison and almost 18 months on he was arrested for doing just that.

On the afternoon of November 7 last year he was spotted speaking to a group of girls aged between 11 and 13 at the towns Swansgate Shopping Centre.

Coulson pleaded guilty to three counts of breaching his SHPO and was sentenced at Northampton Crown Court last week (April 29) to one year and six months in prison.

PC Andy Glover from Northamptonshire Polices MOSOVO team said: We take the management of sex offenders extremely seriously in this force they are very closely monitored and any breaches are dealt with swiftly.

If a breach is identified there are no second chances and just like Bradley Coulson offenders will be sent to prison.

A child sex offender has been sent back to jail after breaching a court order by deleting his internet browsing history and hiding electronic devices from the police.

Jason Cartledge, 47 and of Calf Lane in Chipping Campden, had been jailed for ten months in 2017 for inciting a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity.

He had persuaded the girl to send him intimate pictures of herself via social media and had threatened to harm himself if she did not.

He had added to the pressure on the girl by threatening to circulate compromising pictures of her if she did not keep complying with his demands.

The sentence imposed on Cartledge in 2017, included an indefinite sexual harm prevention order requiring him to make his internet-enabled devices available for inspection by police.

At Gloucester Crown Court on Wednesday, April 27, prosecutor Alan Williams said that on an unannounced police visit on August 24, 2021, Cartledge handed over his phone, a work phone and a gaming console.

It was then found that he had an iPad and a laptop which he had not presented to police.

An examination of the devices found the iPhone had 724 deleted messages, mostly from Whatsap, while the iPad had 90 deleted messages on TikTok.

Cartledge admitted to breaching the court order on several occasions and said he did not want or need a lawyer to speak for him in court.

He added: Im very sorry for what Ive done. I have turned a corner in my life and I am now a lorry driver. If I go to prison I will fall to lose everything.

I hid the iPad because I had been watching pornography and was embarrassed about it. I purchased the laptop to repair my games console.

I only deleted messages relating to a friend who was threatening to take her own life. I accept I should have spoken to my offender manager before I deleted these messages.

Judge Michael Cullum noted that Cartledge had breached the order previously, in September 2018, when he was given a suspended prison sentence for having internet conversations with young females.

He added: You stated to the police on arrest 'is there nothing I can have as my own' - the answer is no, because you contact children, sexually. That is your history because that is the way you have behaved in the past.

You give an innocent explanation, which I dont accept. I suspect you may have been re-offending.

The judge sentenced Cartledge to an immediate 12-month prison sentence and explained that he was unable to suspend it because of his history of poor compliance with court orders.

The judge warned Cartledge that the indefinite sexual harm prevention order remains in place.

A sex offender was found hiding a boy and a girl who were from children's homes in a wardrobe in his bedroom. Just weeks after police made the shocking discovery, Jamie Roberts took two boys - again vulnerable teens living in care - back to his house where they drank alcohol and took drugs - and he suggested getting amphetamine as it "makes you really horny".

Roberts, who also goes by the name Jamie Whelan, is currently subject to a sexual harm prevention order after being convicted of child abduction.

Swansea Crown Court heard that early in the morning of December 21 last year police in Swansea were notified that two teenagers - a girl and a boy - had failed to return home to their respective care homes by the allotted curfew times the previous night. Kevin Jones, prosecuting, said the police investigation led to Roberts' flat in Skewen, and at 3.40am officers knocked on his door. The court heard the lights were on in the property but the officers' knocks went unanswered, though they noticed the blinds in a window were twitching. Officers kept knocking and eventually Roberts answered - despite being fully clothed he told his callers he had been asleep.

The house was searched and it initially appeared Roberts was alone. However, officers noticed a big pile of bedding and clothes stacked up in front of a wardrobe in one of the bedrooms. And when officers moved the items, and opened the wardrobe, they found the missing children hiding inside. The teenagers were returned to their care homes and Roberts was arrested. In his subsequent interview the 35-year-old defendant provided a prepared statement in which he said the children had asked him to hide them, and that they had taken cocaine and amphetamine. After being questioned Roberts was released under investigation.

The court heard the second incident happened on February 28 this year and involved the same teen boy along with another male youth who was also living in care. The prosecutor said on this occasion Roberts met the boys at Swansea railway station and took them back to his home in Skewen. During the evening the trio drank alcohol and the two teens smoked cannabis, and Roberts suggested getting amphetamine as it "makes you really horny". At around 4am an argument broke out and Roberts chased the boys from his flat - apparently at knife-point. One boy rang his care home and a member of staff drove to Skewen to collect him. Roberts was again arrested and admitted arranging to pick up one of the boys from the station - but said he had been surprised to find the youngster was not alone.

Jamie Paul Roberts, of New Road, Skewen, Neath, had previously pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order when he appeared in the dock for sentencing. He has 19 previous convictions for 22 offences including a number for sexual offences beginning with the indecent assault of a girl when he was a juvenile - this involved him assaulting a girl in public toilets on a beach. In 2005 he was convicted at Swansea Crown Court of breaching a sexual harm prevention order, and convicted of the same offence two years later at Stratford Crown Court. However, the court did not hear details of these breaches.

In 2021 he was sentenced to a two-year community order for child abduction - this offence involved a young boy staying in his property in defiance of a child abduction warning notice issued by police following concerns raised by the boy's dad about the nature of the defendant's relationship with his son.

Ian Ibrahim, for Roberts, said the defendant's childhood had been "nothing short of a disaster for him". He said Roberts was taken into care at the age of four and put on anti-psychotic drugs because of his behaviour, and that was followed by a period of living with 10 different foster families and in five foster homes, as well as being bullied at school. The barrister said the defendant had subsequently been diagnosed with a number of conditions including personality disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression. Mr Ibrahim said Roberts had been the victim of a serious assault in Cardiff's Bute Park - the same area where Dr Gary Jenkins was murdered in a homophobic attack - and had also been the victim of so-called cuckooing when a drugs-gang took over his Neath flat.

Judge Paul Thomas QC said he had no doubt Roberts' contact with the young children from care homes had been sexually-motivated grooming behaviour. He said it was clear the defendant posed a risk of serious harm to children but said it was not possible to pass an extended sentence for the offences currently before the court.

With a one-quarter discount for his guilty pleas Roberts was sentenced to three-and-a-half years for breaching the sexual harm prevention order, and the judge re-sentenced the defendant for the previous child abduction offence imposing a six month sentence for that to run consecutively, making an overall sentence of four years in prison. Roberts will serve up to half that period in custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder in the community.

A POLICE detective has praised the immense bravery of a victim after the man who raped her was jailed.

Connor Curtis repeatedly ignored the woman telling him no when he carried out the sexual assault.

Curtis, 24 and of Christchurch Road, Bournemouth was jailed for eight years by a judge at Bournemouth Crown Court on April 20.

He had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

In a statement after Curtis was jailed, Detective Constable Joanne Thomas, of Dorset Police, said: I would like to praise the victim for the immense bravery she has shown in standing up to Connor Curtis and reporting what happened to police.

The victim showed a lot of courage while the investigation was carried out and the court process was ongoing.

"I hope this case will again demonstrate that Dorset Police takes these offences extremely seriously.

"We will always listen to and support anyone who reports matters to us and offenders will be held accountable for the crimes they commit.

As reported, Curtis denied his offending when interviewed by police. He told the officers the sex was consensual.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges at a crown court hearing in October last year, but changed his pleas to guilty earlier this year.

Prosecutor Gemma White told the court the victim had suffered nightmares and flashbacks since Curtis had raped her.

Alongside the prison sentence, of which Curtis will serve at least two-thirds behind bars before being released on licence, the offender was placed on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.

A Middlesbrough man who downloaded 518 illegal images of children, as well as an extreme pornographic image of a dog, told police "I'm not a monster - I would never hurt a child" when he was arrested.

David Clark, 37, had hundreds of pictures of children as young as three being sexually abused, as well as a pornographic image of a dog. Teesside Crown Court heard that he was caught with 148 class A illegal images of children - the most serious category; 226 category B images and 144 category C images.

Clark, of Midville Walk, Netherfields, admitted five counts of making an indecent photograph, or pseudo-photograph of a child. He also pleaded guilty to possessing an extreme pornographic image of an animal, before his trial was due to start.

Paul Cleasby, defending, told the court that his client had been psychologically affected from his work in conflict zones around the world: "He's entirely capable of being rehabilitated. The probation service are willing to work with him.

"A short custodial sentence would be counter productive in this case. He's thoroughly ashamed of himself."

Judge Howard Crowson told Clark: "You deserve to be ashamed. These are vile images, including particularly disturbing ones." The judge handed Clark a 44-week jail term, suspended for 18-months.

He was ordered to attend 25 rehabilitation days and made subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, with sexual offender notification requirements for the same amount of time.

A JOGGER repeatedly exposed himself to schoolgirls while taking his morning exercise, a court heard.

Serial flasher Mark Pittaway exposed himself to young females, mostly in the morning, while jogging around Portland.

His offending spanned a period of more than three years with one girl telling a court she saw him expose himself 'around 30 to 40 times'. One victim said she was 13 when she first saw Pittaway expose himself.

Brave victims told how they had been affected with one saying she was 'disgusted' by the behaviour.

Pittaway, of Portland Bill Road, Portland, appeared at Weymouth Magistrates Court for sentencing following a trial in which he was found guilty of five counts of exposure.

The 60-year-old had denied the charges which relate to a number of incidents between January 1, 2018, and May 3, 2021.

All charges involved him exposing himself on the isle with intent to be seen and to cause alarm or distress.

Prosecuting, Elizabeth Valera, said Pittaway would run on Portland exposing himself, particularly to young females on their way to school or waiting at a bus stop.

Statements were taken from four victims. It was said that Pittaway would jog down the street, often on the same side as them, pull his shorts to one side and expose himself.

Pittaway was arrested on May 4 last year. In interview he denied he had ever exposed himself, but did say 'my shorts are very short'.

Statements from victims were read out in court.

One said: "I have seen the same man since I was 13. It's a shock to see an adult man (exposing himself) as he is heading towards you."

Another victim, who read out her own statement, said she couldn't walk the streets alone in fear that it would happen again.

Another victim, who also read out her own statement, said: "I feel this man is a weirdo and made me feel weird. I'm disgusted by what he has done."

Mitigating, Gillian Jones QC, said the offences didn't involve any more direct contact with the girls other than running past them.

She said devices seized from Pittaway's home found nothing untoward.

Ms Jones said the defendant was 'horrified' by the impact his offending has had on the victims.

The court heard that Pittaway was married and that his wife remained supportive of him and that his offending had had a 'devastating impact' on his young family.

Ms Jones said Pittaway worked as a compliance officer for 35 years and lost his livelihood after he resigned.

"He is a man who can be properly managed and punished in the community," she said.

Chair of the bench, Sara Saunders, told Pittaway the impact of his offending on young female victims was 'immense'.

She said: "The four victims who have given their victim personal statements were very brave.

"The community of Portland deserves to be free of someone behaving in such an inappropriate manner. However, we are going to suspend your sentence because we believe there is a reasonable prospect of you being rehabilitated."

Pittaway was given a 12-month sentence suspended for two years and must undertake 20 Rehabilitation Activity Requirement Days, 250 hours of unpaid work and a 12-week curfew from 9pm to 9am, and will be fitted with an electronic tag during that 12-week period.

He must pay £620 towards cost, £150 to each of the four victims and a victim surcharge of £154.

A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was made for five years with conditions that Pittaway not exercise in a public place unless he is wearing long trousers or shorts which are at least knee length with no front fastening, and doesn't go jogging at specific hours or in particular areas of Portland.

The defendant must also register with the police in accordance with the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for a specified period.

A SEX offender who has persistently flouted notification requirements whenever released from prison is back behind bars for his latest breaches.

Jack Whitfield-Gash, then aged 20, was jailed for 16 months at Durham Crown Court in August 2017, after being convicted of sexual activity with a child under 16, an offence committed when he was said to be an 18-year-old.

He was also made subject of a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and required to register as a sex offender for ten years, but committed his first breach shortly after his release, receiving an initial ten-day sentence.

Whitfield-Gash was back before magistrates in Newton Aycliffe, in early March, and committed back to the crown court for sentence, having admitted two offences of failing to comply with notification requirements and three of failing to comply with a SHPO.

The court was told he failed to inform police he was living at the home of a woman who has a young daughter, days after being released from Durham Prison, on January 18 this year.

Durham Crown Court heard that he also chatted with two underage teenage girls at a bus stop, at which he told them he was stoned, and exchanged phone numbers with one, later receiving a message from her asking if he was, still stoned?

Tabitha Buck, prosecuting, said his phone was seized after he left an address on February 28 and examination revealed contact with the girls, at a bus stop in Durham.

The parents of the girl who sent the message to Whitfield-Gash were unaware their daughter had been in communication with him.

When interviewed about the various breaches, Whitfield-Gash described the situation as, one big game, adding that it was, stupid little things that police keep getting him on.

Miss Buck told the court the defendant became agitated with the interviewing officer and threatened to spit at her.

Whitfield-Gash, 24, of no fixed address, but who has been in custody in Durham Prison since his latest arrest, in late February, was said to have 30 convictions for 50 offences, including 13 sex-related, 11 of them being previous failures to comply with notification requirements.

Miss Buck told the court that the defendant, has links all over the North East, and she said the latest batch of offences suggested it was, a deliberate attempt to avoid detection, as he is fully aware of the requirements of the orders, given his recent offending history.

Jane Waugh, in mitigation, said all the offences are committed as he is homeless, as those with whom he can make contact all live more than two hours by bus from any police station at which he must register his address.

She said there was no intention to evade police and, with the brief meeting with the girls at the bus stop, there was, no sexual intention or motivation.

Judge Ray Singh said he rejected Whitfield-Gashs assertion to police that these were just, trivial matters.

You, more than anyone else, know the serious nature of the orders against you

Because you know about this, you have appeared before the courts for 11 previous breaches.

This is not an isolated offence. These are deliberate, persistent, prolonged breaches over a number of years, not stating to police where you are living, making it hard to monitor your movements.

Im afraid the lessons are not sinking in over these matters.

Imposing a two-year prison sentence Judge Singh said it would be for the police to apply, through other channels to extend the SHPO, which expires in August.

A paedophile collected nearly 2,000 "horrific" child rape and abuse images.

James Mercer was hit with a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) in 2013 after he was caught with a sick stash of indecent images of children. The decade-long order prevented him from accessing the internet unless he retained the browsing history and made it available for inspection by police.

But when officers performed a routine check on his computer equipment as part of the SOPO, they discovered another library of "appalling" photos. The 41-year-old, of Ashburn Avenue, Tower Hill, Kirkby, later admitted possessing 1,997 indecent images of children.

According to the charge, he downloaded the files over a near three-year period between May 16, 2018 and March 17, 2021. Mercer admitted downloading 368 Category A images - the most serious category involving child rape - plus 323 Category B and 1,306 Category C files.

Liverpool Crown Court heard he also pleaded guilty to possessing seven prohibited [cartoon or animated] images of a child. Prosecutors said Mercer was not in fact in breach of the SOPO, as the sex offender had not deleted or attempted to manipulate his search history.

The judge, Recorder Michael Taylor, said his previous convictions were an aggravating feature of the case. He decided the offences were so serious that only an immediate custodial sentence was appropriate.

Recorder Taylor jailed Mercer for 12 months and made him subject to a new indefinite SOPO. The judge told Mercer he must sign on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.

Speaking after the case, an NSPCC spokesperson said: "Every child featured in these indecent images is a victim of horrific abuse. The demand created for this appalling material by offenders like James Mercer means he shares responsibility for their terrible experiences.

"The NSPCC is determined to ensure the Government's upcoming Online Safety Bill is strengthened to prevent offenders like Mercer from using the online world as a gateway to abuse children."

The former manager of a children's home jailed for historical child sexual abuse "ruined the lives of many young men", the chief constable has said.

Joseph Marshall, 85, was sentenced to six years on Friday for abusing boys at Knottfield in Douglas between 1974 and 1982.

Gary Roberts said it was "hard to overstate" the damage the "very dangerous sex offender" had caused.

Marshall's victims "might now see some closure", he added.

The serial abuser was convicted of three indecent assaults and two counts of gross indecency against two boys aged under 16 following a trial at Douglas Courthouse in December.

He had previously been jailed in 1992 for 13 offences of indecent assault against other boys at the home.

Mr Roberts said he had "no doubt at all" that more children had been abused by Marshall, and that it was "never too late" for them to come forward.

'Being believed'

In a statement issued through the charity Victim Support Isle of Man, one of those who fell prey to Marshall said: "A guilty verdict is not just for the crimes he committed against me, but a guilty verdict is for the crimes he committed against every single victim he made.

"I felt believed as soon as I had given my interview to the police and being believed was the biggest part for me."

Responding to criticism by Deemster Bernard Richmond QC about evidence he gave to a Tynwald inquiry into Knottfield prior to the criminal proceedings, Mr Roberts said "to all intents and purposes the book had closed on Marshall" at that time.

"What's also important to note is that inquiry by Tynwald brought out more victims,"he added.

Richard Taylor, aged 55, assaulted multiple boys and girls in Nottingham over a 20 year period mostly by putting his hands under their clothing.

Taylor, of Exchange Road, West Bridgford, was found out when a former victim came forward to share her experiences with police.

A major police investigation followed, with detectives interviewing multiple witnesses and victims many of whom are now adults.

Taylor was first arrested in December 2017 and denied all the allegations against him.

During his initial police interview he provided a brief statement but declined to answer any of the questions posed to him.

He remained silent during further interviews as multiple other victims came forward to share their stories of abuse.

Taylor was eventually found guilty in February by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court of 11 offences two of indecent assault and nine of sexual assault.

He was found not guilty of two further counts of sexual assault.

Appearing at the same venue on Friday, April 29, he was jailed for 13 years.

He was added to the sexual offenders' register for life and was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order which will tightly restrict his activities when he is released.

Detective Constable Paul Crofts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: Taylor committed these offences over a very long period of time and seemed to believe that he would never be held to account for what he was doing.

Thanks to the bravery of his victims his offending was exposed. I am delighted for them that they have finally got justice for what happened to them and hope this provides them with at least some degree of closure.

Offences of this nature are never easy to investigate particularly when they happened many years ago. But we always will investigate such allegations to the best of our ability.

In the first incident Gallagher continued to rape the victim even after she repeatedly told him to stop, while on the second occasion she woke up to find Gallagher raping her.

Immediately after the second incident the victim called a friend to stay in her home as Gallagher refused to leave.

A victim impact statement read out in court said the victim had suffered significant trauma as a result of the incidents, which continues to this day.

At Luton Crown Court yesterday (Thursday), Gallagher was sentenced to three years in prison for the first offence and six years for the second. The sentences will be served at the same time.
