A man from Dunstable has been sentenced for raping and sexually assaulting a child.

Paul Millard, 43, carried out the abuse for around three years, bribing the child with sweets so she wouldn’t tell anyone.

However, she disclosed to her mother what had happened, and Millard was arrested by Bedfordshire Police’s Protecting Vulnerable People (PVP) team.

Millard, of no fixed address, was found guilty of 10 counts relating to child sexual abuse, including four of rape.

He was sentenced today (Friday) to 18 years, plus seven on licence.

“This case demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community and the sentence Millard received reflects the severity of his crime. 

“Our priority throughout this investigation has been ensuring a dangerous offender is prevented from causing any future harm, while supporting the wellbeing of the victim, and we commend her courage in helping us put Millard behind bars.

Former Junior Doctor Jailed for Possessing Child Rape Videos and Distributing Indecent Images

A former junior doctor has been sentenced to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty to possessing Category A and B indecent images of children, including videos showing the rape of toddlers, and distributing an indecent image.

Thomas Jenkins, 34, of Llys Cilsaig, Dafen, Llanelli, was arrested by Dyfed-Powys Police in the early hours of 2 February following intelligence about his online activities. Officers seized phones and tablet devices from his home.

Swansea Crown Court heard that examination of the devices revealed a stash of child sex abuse videos, including Category A material depicting the rape of toddlers. Jenkins had also engaged in chats about child sexual abuse on the encrypted messaging app Telegram and shared an indecent image with like-minded individuals. He answered “no comment” to all questions in interview.

Prosecutor Matt Murphy told the court the evidence showed Jenkins had been “actively involved in a network which facilitated the sharing of indecent images online”.

Jenkins had a previous conviction from Manchester Crown Court in 2017 for attempting to incite a child under 16 to engage in sexual activity. While working as a junior doctor at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, he sent sexually explicit messages and photographs to an undercover police officer posing as a 13-year-old boy on Grindr. He received a community order for that offence.

The current sentencing judge described the 2017 sentence as “quite frankly astonishing” and said it had clearly failed to deter Jenkins. Following that conviction, Jenkins was struck off the medical register.

Defence barrister Dan Griffiths said Jenkins accepted that his drug and alcohol use had caused him to behave recklessly and had led to him “throwing away a promising career in medicine”. He understood that any mitigation would only affect the length of the inevitable prison sentence.

Judge Paul Thomas KC described Jenkins as “a committed and dangerous paedophile”. He told him: “We can all thank our lucky stars that you never qualified with your perverted sexual proclivities.”

The judge noted that the children and toddlers in the videos found on Jenkins’ devices were real victims being raped and sexually abused.

With credit for his guilty pleas, Jenkins was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment. He will serve 40 per cent in custody before release on licence. He will remain a registered sex offender for life and was made subject to a 15-year sexual harm prevention order.

Two men have been sentenced for multiple sex offences following an appearance at Hull Crown Court today (Monday, 29 June 2026).

David Drury, 40-years-old of Thoresby Street in Hull and a former Humberside Police employee pleaded guilty to the offences at an earlier hearing at Hull Crown Court on Monday, 18 May 2026:

• Six counts of distributing an indecent photograph / pseudo-
• photograph of a child
• Two counts sexual assault on a male
• Sexual assault of a child under 13
• Voyeurism

He has now been sentenced to nine years in prison, handed a sexual harm prevention order, a seven-year restraining order and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Daniel Sellers, 44-years-old of Thoresby Street, Hull, pleaded guilty to the following offences at an earlier hearing at Hull Crown Court on Wednesday, 20 May 2026:

• Two counts of aiding, abetting, counselling, and procuring/aiding and abetting sexual assault on a male
• Arranging and facilitating the commission of a child sex offence

He has now been sentenced to four and a half years in prison, handed a restraining order for five years, a sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

An investigation was first launched into Drury by Humberside Police after we received a third-party report of concerns of inappropriate behaviour. Further police enquiries, including a detailed examination of Drury’s electronic devices by our Digital Forensics Unit took place, in which multiple indecent images of children were recovered, and it became clear that in addition to this, contact sexual offences had also been committed by him. The analysis of the phone data highlighted to Investigating Officers that the offending was aided, facilitated and abetted by his partner Daniel Sellers. Both Drury and Sellers were arrested in July 2024 and interviewed. The offences were found to be committed upon a child victim over a sustained period of time.

Deputy Chief Constable Baker said:

“The level of abuse Drury and Sellers subjected the victim to showed complete disregard for their welfare and safety.

“I would like to commend the bravery of the victim who supported a police prosecution and provided a victim personal statement.

“I hope this result reassures our communities that Humberside Police is committed to supporting victims of sexual violence and pursuing offenders with determination.”

Detectives have praised the bravery displayed by a rape victim as her evidence helped to bring her attacker to justice.

Liam Christopher Bassett, aged 28 and of Bournemouth, was sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 25 June 2026 after being found guilty following a trial of two charges of rape, assault by beating and two further offences.

The jury at the trial heard evidence from the victim, who was known to the defendant, detailing how Bassett had been physically violent towards her, including punching her in the face, and had also forced himself upon her on more than one occasion when she had refused to have sex with him.

After the victim disclosed the abuse to police, officers continued to support her as detectives compiled evidence to subsequently secure charges against Bassett.

At the sentencing hearing, Bassett - a British national who defines himself as being of white British ethnicity - was jailed for nine years and nine months in prison.

Detective Constable Rose Pratt, of BCP CID, said:

“I do not for a moment underestimate the courage it took the victim in the case to firstly come forward and report the abuse she suffered at the hands of Liam Bassett, and then to support our investigation and the trial process.

“Thanks to her bravery and the evidence she gave, her attacker is now behind bars and I hope this will give other victims of rape and violence the strength to come forward in the knowledge that we will support them and hold perpetrators to account.”

A man from Redditch who exploited his position as a photographer has been jailed for more than eight years for a string of sex and voyeurism offences.

Steven Liles, aged 60, of Weatheroak Close, appeared at Worcester Crown Court on Friday (26 June) having previously been found guilty at trial for offences spanning from 2009 to 2019.

Liles began working as a freelance photographer and videographer for private events and dance schools across the Midlands after he was made redundant from a previous job. It was through these roles he met many of his victims.

Liles converted his home garage into a photography studio and set up a hidden camera in his office, where he would ask the people he was taking photos of to get changed.

The footage was discovered by police after his devices were seized, and during the trial in April he was found guilty of three counts of voyeurism. Two of these counts relate to footage of children and the third relates to footage of an adult.

Liles also befriended women with children and exploited his relationship with the mothers to groom and sexually assault the young girls. He was found guilty of one count of sexual assault on a child under 13 and three counts of sexual activity with a child.

When handing Liles the eight years and six months jail term, Judge Jackson described the sex offender as ‘a deviant behind a mask’, and the words, ‘targeted’, ‘groomed’, ‘sexual predator’, and ‘false friend’ were heard throughout.

Detective Sergeant Shelley Aplin from the Major Investigation Unit said:

“I want to commend the victims for their unwavering courage and patience throughout the entire investigation, which has undoubtably been extremely difficult for them.

“They have told their story and should hold their heads high. Everyone who has come forward and supported this investigation has helped bring this offender to justice.

“Liles is a predator whose behaviour affected so many lives and caused immense emotional turmoil. It was right that he has been given a lengthy prison sentence.”

Liles was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) indefinitely, which prohibits him from contacting and having unsupervised contact with children once released from prison.

He was also ordered to pay £4360 in court charges.

The men appeared at Hull Crown Court yesterday (Thursday, 25 June 2026) where they were found guilty by a unanimous jury on charges brought against them following an 18-day trial.

Following the verdict, they were sentenced today (Friday, 26 June 2026) at Hull Crown Court.

Hamdulluh Hamdadd, also known as Hamid, 24-years-old, of Park Grove in Hull, an Afghan national who identifies as Arab, was found guilty of intentionally arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child and intentionally obtaining for himself the sexual services of a child between July 2025 and November 2025.

Hamdadd pleaded guilty at an earlier court hearing to possessing an extreme pornographic image and making an indecent photograph of a child.

He was sentenced to eight years behind bars.

Rafiullah Naseri, also known as Shaheen, 20-years-old, of Spring Bank in Hull, an Afghan national who identifies as Arab, was found guilty of intentionally arranging or facilitating the sexual exploitation of a child and intentionally obtaining for himself the sexual services of a child between July 2025 and November 2025.

He was sentenced to eight years behind bars.

Amjid Akakhail, 22-years-old, of Pearson Street in Wakefield, an Afghan national who identifies as Arab, was found guilty of intentionally obtaining for himself the sexual services of a child between July 2025 and November 2025.

Akakhail pleaded guilty at an earlier court hearing to making an indecent photograph of a child.

He was sentenced to four years behind bars.

All three men were also made subject to lifetime restraining orders, placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely, and given Sexual Harm Prevention Orders for life.

An investigation was launched by our Child Sexual Exploitation Team after information was reported to police by professionals who had concerns for a child’s welfare. Officers swiftly responded to these concerns and commenced an investigation, identifying that Hamdadd, Naseri and Akakhail were involved in the exploitation of a 16-year-old girl.

The victim first met Hamdadd by chance when they were both customers at a retail premises in Hull. Following this initial encounter, Hamdadd used calculated tactics to build a relationship based on trust and control. Gifts were used to create a powerful sense of obligation, enabling him to isolate and target the victim for sexual exploitation and to introduce her to the other men involved.

All three men targeted the victim, grooming her to gain her trust before exploiting her and subjecting her to repeated sexual abuse at addresses across Hull.

As the investigation developed, officers identified several addresses linked to the suspects, leading to warrants being executed at addresses in Hull and West Yorkshire with the support of partner agencies in December 2025.  These warrants resulted in the arrests of Hamdadd, Naseri, and Akakhail.

Following their arrests, officers worked closely with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to build a compelling case against all three men, and they were subsequently charged and remanded the following day (Thursday, 11 December 2025).

During the trial, jurors were presented with extensive evidence, including witness testimonies, CCTV footage and communication data. This evidence clearly demonstrated the extent of the abuse and the significant impact it had on the victim.

Detective Superintendent Nicole Elliott, who led the investigation, said:

“This has been a complex and sensitive investigation, with the safety and protection of a vulnerable child and the prevention and disruption of further serious offending at its core.

“This case represents a harrowing example of grooming, manipulation and predatory behaviour by three men who deliberately targeted a vulnerable child.  They offered money, alcohol and drugs, using these tactics to gain control before sexually abusing her for their own gratification.

“The victim has shown remarkable courage and strength in extremely traumatic circumstances. She worked closely with our Child Sexual Exploitation Team and partner agencies to explain the abuse she suffered, and her bravery has been central to bringing these offenders to justice.

A 39 year old man from Old Colwyn has been jailed after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences.

In November last year, officers were informed of an alleged sexual assault at a residential property. Whilst the victim was giving their report, it transpired that the person who had come along to support them was also the subject of various offences at the hands of the same man, including assault, rape and physical and mental abuse, including having their mobile phone tracked.

Detectives arrested and charged Vishnu Remadevi with Rape, sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, threatening with a bladed article, intentional strangulation, and controlling and coercive behaviour.

Throughout the investigation Vishnu denied all offences and even claimed that the two victims were colluding against him.

On the first day of his trial, Remadevi pleaded guilty, and yesterday he was sentenced to 11 years six months in prison.

Speaking after sentencing, Detective Constable Catherine Farrington said:

“This was a disturbing case where Remadevi carried out a series of serious offences over a sustained period of time.

“I would like to pay tribute to the bravery of the victims for coming forward, despite the prospect of having to give evidence in Court. I hope they feel vindicated and that the sentence will give them some comfort.

“Violence against women and girls (VAWG) is a force priority and we always take any such reports seriously. If you or anyone you know has been the victim of offences like these, please know that you can talk to specialist officers in confidence. We can also offer advice on partner support agencies for any victim.”

Aiden Freeman, of White Star Close, Godalming, Surrey, pleaded not guilty to five counts of sexual offences on a girl under 13 which occurred between October 2012 and February 2016.

In interview, he claimed the victim – now a woman in her 20s - was making up her accusations for attention.

The victim, who was supported by specially trained officers, was just nine years old when the offending started.

On Monday, 30 March, at Lewes Crown Court, Freeman was convicted of two counts of assault of a girl under 13 by penetration, and three counts of rape of a girl under 13.

At the same court on Thursday, 4 June, he was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison

A referral from National Crime Agency (NCA) colleagues has led to the conviction of a man from Wragby, near Market Rasen, for multiple sexual assault offences against children. 

McCorley Booth, 30, of Newton Close, Wragby, Market Rasen pleaded guilty to inciting a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity, assault of a boy under 13 by touching, two counts of making indecent images, and distribution of indecent images.  

He appeared before Lincoln Crown Court, yesterday (Thursday 25 June) and was sentenced to a total of seven years in prison.

Booth pleaded guilty to two offences which took place in February 2025 and was sentenced as follows: 

• Cause / incite a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity – no penetration [seven years]
• Make indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child [eight months concurrent]

He was remanded into prison and later pleaded guilty at a subsequent hearing to three offences dating back to 2024, and was sentenced as follows: 

• Assault a boy under 13 by touching [four years concurrent]
• Make indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child [eight months concurrent]
• Distribute an indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child [eight months concurrent]

He was handed a 15-year sexual harm prevention order along with a five-year restraining order. He will be placed on the sex offender register for life.  

Thanks to fast-moving intelligence provided by NCA colleagues, we were alerted to some disturbing content appearing on a web chat.

Booth was swiftly arrested at a location in Market Rasen on suspicion of making and distributing indecent images. A download of his phone subsequently identified multiple offences.  

A search of his house uncovered a pair of distinctive trousers which also helped identify him as the perpetrator in one of the disturbing images discovered on downloads from his phone.

The officer leading this investigation, Detective Constable Kye Sykes said:

This has been a deeply troubling investigation. The offences uncovered represent a profound abuse of trust and a calculated exploitation of vulnerability. It is particularly disturbing to confront the reality that someone in a position of responsibility could manipulate and harm those who should have been safe in their presence. 

Throughout this case, our thoughts have remained firmly with the victims and their family. The impact of such offences extends far beyond the immediate criminal acts; it leaves lasting emotional and psychological harm for all associated with the case. I want to commend their courage in supporting the investigation and engaging with the process despite the immense sensitivity and difficulty. 

I would also like to recognise the outstanding work and ongoing collaboration between our partner agencies. Safeguarding vulnerable individuals requires a coordinated and determined response, and this case demonstrates the strength of that partnership. A Rugby man has been found guilty of multiple non-recent sexual offences including indecent assault and gross indecency.

Abed Hussain abused his victim when he was in a position of authority over the teenage boy on three separate occasions in 1993.

After reporting the abuse in 2024, an investigation began and the 69-year-old was arrested. He was subsequently charged with:

• four counts of gross indecency with a boy under 14
• four counts of indecent assault on a boy under 14
• one count of committing buggery with a boy under 16

Hussain denied any wrongdoing but was eventually found guilty by a jury of all nine counts at a trial earlier this month. He will be sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on 18 August.

“Coming forward to disclose offences of this nature takes a huge amount of bravery. I want to thank the victim in this case for their strength and commitment throughout the investigation.

A Kirklees child sex offender who was arrested and charged within 48 hours of his offences first being reported has been jailed.
 
Kirklees child safeguarding detectives have commended the courage of the young survivor and her family following the sentencing of Duncan Macintosh at Leeds Crown Court today (26 June) for multiple child sex offences.
 
The 64-year-old, from the Brackenhall area in Huddersfield, was jailed for 11 years for eight sexual touching offences involving a girl aged under 13, and four sexual assault by penetration offences involving a girl under 13.

He was also given an indefinite restraining order and a 15-year sexual harm prevention order. 

Macintosh had been found guilty of the offending, which took place between July and August 2025, at a trial at Leeds Crown Court in March.
 
His offending was first reported to police during the evening of 31 August by the victim’s family, after the young girl disclosed to them what had taken place.
 
An investigation was immediately launched by specialist officers, resulting in Macintosh being arrested the very next day, and then charged and in court on September 2.

DC Leia Houtekamer of the Kirklees Safeguarding Child Protection Team, said: 

“We welcome the sentencing of Macintosh today for truly awful sexual offending against a very young victim.  I also want to  commend her, and her family, for their bravery in coming forwards and supporting our investigation to bring this wicked man to justice.

“The 64-year-old was arrested within less than a day of his offending being reported and in court 24 hours later.  Rather than admit what he had done he instead chose to put the victim and her family through the ordeal of a trial with a jury finding him guilty of 12 separate sexual offences.

“We hope seeing him jailed can bring them some comfort and continue to encourage all victims of sexual offending who have not contacted us, for whatever reason, to come forwards.

“Dedicated safeguarding officers investigate every report made and we do all we can to aid and secure justice for victims.  Our officers can also help signpost those who have suffered sexual abuse to any support services they may need.”

A man from Prescot has been jailed for committing child sex offences which took place three years ago.

Finlay Rayner, 24 years, of Maple Grove, was sentenced on Wednesday 24 June to three years in prison after he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a girl 13 to 15.

He has also been put on the Sexual Offenders Register indefinitely and a restraining order is in place to not contact the victim for 10 years.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that three years ago Rayner, who was 20 at the time, had messaged a 15-year-old girl on Snapchat initiating sexual intercourse and this developed into sexual activity.

In a victim impact statement she said: “Since the incident I struggle to be around men. This can be in any situation when men are in the room, I feel really panicky. This has also impacted my education as I have had to leave due to panic attacks during the day. I received counselling also for six months.

“Prior to this I would go out every day, at first I wouldn't go out at all, I go out more recently but nothing like I used to. I have a lot more stress in my life now, when I go out I feel unsafe and need to call someone when I am walking home.”

Officer in Charge of the investigation, Detective Constable Elena Owen said:

“I hope this sentence provides some comfort in knowing they did the right thing to report Rayner’s heinous crime to us.

“Merseyside Police is completely committed to protecting children from sexual abuse and those who seek to do them harm, and we take all such reports extremely seriously.

“If you have experienced any form of sexual abuse, or know of a child being abused, please come forward and report this to police. 

“We have a dedicated team of specially trained officers who will treat you with sensitivity and compassion and will do everything we can to bring offenders to justice.”

A man has been jailed for nine years and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life after secretly filming and sexually abusing a teenage girl.

David Rudkin, 57-years-old, of Roxby Road in Winterton pleaded guilty to two counts of assault by penetration, sexual assault, voyeurism and making indecent photographs of children at an earlier court date. He has now been sentenced to nine years behind bars and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life following an appearance at Hull Crown Court last week (Friday, 22 May 2026).

An investigation into Rudkin was first launched when we received non-recent reports of a teenage girl that had been subjected to sexual abuse across a period of five years. As well as engaging in sexual activity with her whilst she slept, she also reported that she believed Rudkin had hid his phone on multiple occasions in order to film private videos of her without her knowing.

Rudkin was arrested on 7 April 2019 and interviewed by detectives. He denied all allegations and blamed the victim on being tired, resulting in confusion and the reason behind the report. He was released under investigation whilst further enquiries were conducted.

Further evidence came to light when the victim provided text messages that were exchanged between her and Rudkin. He attended Brigg Police Station for a voluntary interview on 6 June 2021 to be questioned in regard to this new evidence. He denied any sexual intention behind the messages.

Detectives continued the investigation and building a case of evidence into the reports against Rudkin, with one line of enquiry being an old mobile phone that was located and seized. On this device was a video of the girl being secretly filmed getting undressed, confirming the original concerns that Rudkin had hidden his phone without her knowing.

He eventually pleaded guilty to all offences at an appearance at Grimsby Crown Court on Monday, 23 March 2026.

Detective Constable Molly Cross who led the investigation said:

“Rudkin is a sexual predator who took away a young girls’ teenage years by subjecting her to years of abuse and trauma.

“I would like to commend the bravery of the girl who came forward and reported Rudkin, these investigations are lengthy and complex, but it is thanks to her bravery throughout the process that he is now behind bars.

“I hope this sends a message to that whether sex offences have taken place a yesterday, or 10 years ago, we take all reports of this nature extremely seriously. When you are ready, we will support you through the full judicial process, and signpost you to relevant agencies.”
