A paedophile who subjected a girl to two years of 'grossly' abusing her also threatened to rape her after saying she was his 'ideal woman.

Leonard Roberts "grotesquely" subjected her to numerous different types of abuse during "totally outrageous" behaviour, HullLive reports. When his victim revealed what she had gone through, Roberts told police that "he was a piece of s*** and deserved to die", Hull Crown Court heard.

Roberts, of Gypsey Road, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, admitted 11 sexual offences, including two of sexual assault, four of sexual activity with a child and others of penetrative sexual activity with a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child and causing a child to watch a sex act.

Charlotte Baines, prosecuting, said that on April 26, the girl revealed to members of her family details of the sexual abuse that she had suffered from Roberts over the previous two years. Roberts told police: "Whatever she said, I have done it." He repeated this five or six times.

The girl said that the abuse had "got worse over time" and he repeatedly sexually and intimately touched her. "This made her feel very, very uncomfortable," said Miss Baines. Roberts committed a sex act in front of the girl and watched pornography in her presence. "He made threats of sexual violence towards her and threatened to rape her," said Miss Baines. "He told her that she was his ideal woman."

Roberts, 41, told the girl: "You deserve to be raped." The girl felt scared. When Roberts was arrested, he told police that "he was a piece of s*** and deserved to die" and that he was "in desperate need of love, affection and stimulation".

The girl said in a statement that it had been very difficult to cope with what had happened. "I have been trying to hide what he did for so long," she said.

"He told me that he was doing what he did to me because he fell in love with me. It has affected my mood. I have lost interest in all the things I liked doing. I am depressed all the time. I feel happy that it is over. I wish this had never happened."

Rachel Scott, mitigating, said that Roberts had never challenged the girl's account of what happened. "This behaviour is unexplainable and it's disgraceful," said Miss Scott. "He is deeply sorry for his actions and for what he has done and he knows how much he has hurt her. He is truly, truly remorseful.

"He appreciates that he needs serious help. He feels that he doesn't even deserve the help that he has been offered. He wishes that, if he could turn back the clock, he would never have these thoughts."

Roberts had no previous convictions and had previously worked as a factory worker before up that job to become a full-time carer for his parents. Judge Mark Bury told Roberts that he behaved "grotesquely" towards the girl. "You grossly abused her over a two-year period," said the judge.

"You threatened to rape her. On one occasion, you said she deserved to be raped. Can you imagine how that would make a young girl feel? It's grossly inappropriate. She wants you to know how much you have hurt her. This went on regularly many times over two years. There were many types of abuse. There was verbal abuse that you uttered towards her, really horrible things that you said to her. You were told to stop but you carried on.

"It's clear to me that you are ashamed of your behaviour. There is great remorse, as well there might be for these totally outrageous acts of sexual abuse."

Roberts was jailed for eight years and will have to register as a sex offender for life.

A pervert with previous for having indecent images of children made suspicious searches on secret devices he failed to tell police about.

David Carey was subject to strict restrictions on his internet activity after being caught with child abuse images in 2017. As a result of that conviction, he was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order, which included a condition he had to notify police about any internet enabled device he was using.

But he breached that order seven times in December last year by using computers at Whitley Bay Library without telling police. He came to the attention of staff when he asked about some children's audio books and told them he was using their computers as the police were involved with him and had removed his devices.

A further breach was revealed on December 14 when police responded to a 999 call by him. He was found by a PC sitting on a bench and as the officer approached him she noticed him putting a pink iPod in his pocket.

A search of his home revealed another iPod and neither of them had been registered with police. Jemima Stephenson, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court: "There was a search history on both devices indicating he may have been trying to access child pornography. The searches included 'extreme incest', 'eight-year-old young' and 'extreme young'."

The court heard Carey, 39, of Langdale Close, Longbenton, North Tyneside has 14 previous convictions. In April 2017 he was convicted of 13 offences relating to indecent or prohibited images of children and in December last year - days before the latest offences - he was convicted of breaching the sexual harm prevention order after refusing to provide a passcode for a phone.

For the latest offences, he pleaded guilty to two breaches of the sexual harm prevention order and was sentenced to 18 months suspended for two years and must do a sex offenders treatment programme. Judge Penny Moreland told him: "I'm not sure if you have grasped, when you search for indecent images, you are looking for pictures of real children who are the victims of sexual abuse in order for you to gain pleasure from it."

Joe Culley, defending, said Carey had completed a sex offenders treatment programme as part of his sentence in 2017. He added that his mother died last year, which had a "profound effect" on him.

Mr Culley said: "He lives an extremely isolated existence and a persecuted existence. Those who live near him know of his offending history and his home has been targeted and he has sought to move away. He has family in other areas who have disowned him. He has a referral for an autism assessment."

A soldier has been jailed after being convicted of the rape and sexual assault of a child under 13.

Shane Percival, 27, a lance corporal with the Royal Anglian Regiment, appeared at Norwich Crown Court having been found guilty of rape and sexual assault .

It followed a trial in March this year after which Percival, of Lynford Drive, Eaton, was found guilty of the offences.

They happened between December 2011 and August 2013, when Percival was aged between 16 and the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was aged between nine and 10.

Before Percival, who was stationed at Woolwich Barracks and in Cyprus, was sentenced the victim read out a statement in court.

She said: "I was 15 when I told my teacher what Shane did to me.

"My whole world fell apart.

"I had kept this hidden since I was a little girl.

"I did this because it would break my family's hearts and it did."

The victim described how her mental health suffered as a result and how she turned to self-harm and made attempts to take her own life.

The victim said: "Luckily my attempts were unsuccessful."

She added: "I didn't want to live but I'm now stronger than ever."

Duncan O'Donnell, prosecuting, read a statement on behalf of the victim's mother who said she was "so proud of her" for how she has come through the ordeal.

Mr O'Donnell said the victim impact statements describe the effects of what had happened to her and insisted there was "substantial psychological harm".

Jailing Percival for five years and two months, Judge Alice Robinson said the victim "undoubtedly suffered psychological harm as a result of these offences".

Michael Clare, mitigating, provided to the court a number of character references on behalf of the defendant.

Mr Clare said Percival who was 16 when the offences were committed, was "clearly was at some point a damaged boy".

Percival was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for six years.

He was also put on the sex offenders register indefinitely and banned from contacting the victim directly or indirectly for six years.

A British Army spokesman said: "The army takes such convictions very seriously and where there is a sentence of imprisonment, there is a strong likelihood that the individual will be discharged."

A 26-year-old Stowmarket man who was found to have downloaded more than 2,000 indecent images and movies of children after he took his mobile phone into a shop in Ipswich has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Staff at the Vodafone shop in the town contacted the police after spotting indecent images on Luke Crightons phone when he took it into the shop for an upgrade, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

Following his arrest, Crighton told officers: I know Ive done wrong. Im trying to stop and get help. How long will I go to prison for?

Crighton, of Eve Balfour Way, Stowmarket, admitted six offences of making indecent images and videos of children and two offences of producing two indecent videos of children.

Juliet Donovan, prosecuting, said that in addition to Crightons phone police had seized other devices from him and when they were analysed they were found to contain 495 still indecent images of children and 140 movies in the most serious level A category, 319 still images and 28 movies in category B and 1,147 images and 44 movies in the lowest level C category.

Police also discovered two category C indecent movies of children that Crighton had filmed himself.

Sentencing Crighton, Judge Emma Peters described what hed done as a disgusting addiction" and described the indecent images and videos as vile.

She gave Crighton a 16-month prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered him to do 180 hours of unpaid work.

She also ordered him to take part in a sex offenders treatment programme and gave him a 30 day rehabilitation activity requirement.

Crighton, who has a ten-month-old baby, was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for ten years and ordered to sign the sex offenders register for the same period.

He was also ordered to pay 380 costs.

Claire Matthews, for Crighton, said he realised he was in jeopardy of an immediate custodial sentence.

She said he had made admissions to the police from the outset and had been open with his family about what hed done.

Miss Matthews said Crighton came from a good law-abiding family who did not understand or condone his behaviour.

She said Crighton had moved back home with his parents and his family was now ensuring he didnt re-offend.

Miss Matthews said Crighton had completed eight two-hour group work sessions to address his offending behaviour.

A convicted gangland killer and rapist smashed a can of lager into his girlfriend's face because she didn't want to drink.

Stephen Rice, who has served prison sentences for an underworld shooting manslaughter in Newcastle city centre, wounding with intent and rape, had been released on licence when he attacked his partner. A court heard she lived in the flat above his in Gateshead and they had begun a relationship after growing close when she initially went round to complain about noise.

In April last year she was at home and could hear him downstairs in his flat smashing things up. He then went to her flat at 7am with a badly injured finger which was bleeding. She wrapped a towel around it and offered to call an ambulance but he refused.

Alec Burns, prosecuting, told Newcastle Crown Court: "He had brought four cans of lager with him and he started accusing her of seeing other men. She swore she had not and got upset. Because she would not drink, he smashed a full can of lager in her face. He then got upset and said 'look what you've made me do' and began to cry."

When interviewed by police, Rice, 55, of Redheugh Court, Gateshead, claimed she had hit herself with the can but he later went on to plead guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Jailing him for 14 months, Recorder Carl Gumsley said: "This was a nasty offence against somebody you were professing to have a meaningful and, one assumes, loving relationship and it happened in her home.

"You have an appalling and most troubling record - you have convictions for some of the most serious offences of violence."

Ian Brook, defending, said: "There was disharmony borne out of his jealousy. There's some remorse expressed in the report.

"He met her as she had complained about the racket in is flat and they entered a relationship which was somewhat volatile. He was a career criminal. She was aware of the manslaughter conviction and the rapes. He was required to disclose to anyone he wanted to have a relationship with that he had those convictions.

"The complainant and defendant were kindred spirits. They both had mental health issues and drank to excess and had drug issues. He was released for the rape convictions in June 2018 and he says he turned a corner."

Rice was convicted of manslaughter and jailed for eight years after he shot dead a rival during a gunfight in a crowded Bigg Market bar only days before Christmas in 1995. That involved a shoot-out in Maceys bar, where Rice was already carrying a pistol when rival Frankie Kelly, 28, opened fire as revellers tried to take cover. Rice pulled his own gun from his waistband, pulled the trigger and shot Mr Kelly in the chest.

He was back inside for six-and-a-half years in 2006 for his part in a conspiracy to spread cocaine through the city.

In 2011 he was jailed for 11 years for a sustained attack on a mother in her own Newcastle home. He struck the victim from behind with a weightlifting bar. Rice then landed more blows before raping her.

A SEX offender has been jailed for more than 13 years for crimes in the New Forest including the rape of a child under 13.

Steven Oxborrow (33), of Wilverley Road in Wootton, near New Milton, had been a "liked and trusted" local childrens martial arts instructor and entertainer.

But on multiple occasions over seven years, between January 2005 and June 2012, he abused three youngsters in the Wootton and New Milton area.

As reported in the A&T, he was convicted by a Southampton Crown Court jury in April of one count of rape of a child under 13 and five counts of sexual activity with a child under 13.

He was also found guilty of three counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, two counts of making indecent photographs of a child, and one count of possession of an indecent image of a child.

Yesterday (Thursday) he was sentenced by a judge at the same court to 13-and-a-half years behind bars, plus a further year on licence.

He was also made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, with all three victims being granted restraining orders against Oxborrow for life, ensuring that he cannot contact them.

He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

DC Donna Kay from Hampshire Constabularys Amberstone Unit, said: Firstly, I would like to commend the bravery and courage of the three victims in reporting the abuse in the first instance, with each one showing maturity beyond their years and playing a vital role in securing justice.

They were just children when Steven Oxborrow decided to take away their innocence with the victims fearful at the time of abuse of getting themselves, and a man that they liked and trusted, into trouble.

Oxborrow demonstrated that he was a very dangerous human being in grooming his victims and their parents into a false sense of security as a supposed respected person within the community who would not cause anyone any harm.

As we now know, this cant be further from the truth. We hope that todays sentencing can provide the victims with a sense of closure and comfort that he can no longer harm them."

Oxborrow's offending was uncovered when one of the victims came forward when they were 12 years old, after a concerned parent found inappropriate messages between the pair on a family computer.

Officers uncovered a further victim of Oxborrow and later found indecent images of children on his computer.

The trial jury also heard how a third victim reported being sexually abused by him when taking part in martial art classes.

DC Kay added: We want to show you that no matter the circumstances, Hampshire Constabulary are committed to supporting survivors of rape and sexual assault and we will do everything we can to identify offenders and put them in front of a court.

Operation Amberstone was set up in 2016 by Hampshire Constabulary as a dedicated team investigating serious sexual assaults and rape, including specially trained officers assigned to support victims.

A Hampshire police spokesperson said: "If youre not ready to talk to the police just yet, thats okay.

"You can speak to a number of organisations in confidence and what you tell them won't be shared with the police unless you ask for it to be."

A paedophile hunter groups victim, who sent pictures of himself wearing ladies underwear, has been jailed for four years. Michael Hall, 53, sent the 13-year-old girl sexually-explicit messages instructing her to use fruit as a sex toy. Having met the girl on 18+ website Loveoo, he made repeated requests for her to send pictures of herself in her underwear or a swimsuit. The former Berkshire man, who has since moved to France, also sent explicit images of himself using a sex toy. Despite attempts to meet up, he was said to have got cold feet. Ahead of a surprise meeting in Reading, he told her she was too young and he was scared of going to prison. The girl with whom Hall thought was speaking was, in fact, a member of a so-called paedophile hunter group called the Geordie Chasers. The group confronted him outside Reading railway station in mid-2018 after he travelled to meet the girl. Hall had denied a slew of child sex offences, telling police that he believed the girl was an adult. However, jurors at Oxford Crown Court earlier this week returned unanimous guilty verdicts to seven charges, including attempted sexual communication with a child, attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act and attempting to meet a child after sexual activity. Sending him down for four years, Judge Ian Pringle QC said: Your defence that you knew all along that the person with whom you were texting was a woman aged between 18 and 24 was flatly rejected by the jury. By their verdicts they found you did, indeed, believe she was 13 years of age.

A registered sex offender who was caught with more than 2,000 indecent images of children on a hidden mobile phone has been sent back to prison. David Martin Nappin, 38, was released on licence following a previous prison sentence on July 30, 2020. As part of the previous sentence, Nappin the subject of a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order, limiting his contact with children and use of the internet. He was also made subject to a notification requirement. Those requirements meant that he had to make any device capable of accessing the internet to the police or a probation officer on request. On November 10, 2020, officers from the East (MOSOVO) Management of Sexual and Violent Offender Team were contacted by the manager of the probation hostel in Blackburn where Nappin was living to say that an unregistered phone had been discovered in the defendants room. Nappin was arrested, charged and recalled to prison while the investigation progressed. Nappin had also sent the hostel manager a message on his registered mobile phone which read: you'll find something, the stuff that got me in trouble last time. Officers from the MOSOVO unit attended Nappins place of work the same day arrested him and seized his registered and unregistered mobile phones. On the unregistered mobile phone, experts found 2209 illegal files. Of those 802 were Category A the most serious examples of child sexual abuse - 491 were Category B and 898 were Category C. There were also eight prohibited images and to extreme pornographic images. Robert Richards, from the East MOSOVO Team, said: Following an investigation by Lancashire Police, registered sex offender David Nappin was convicted of possessing over 2209 indecent images of children, including 802 of the most serious category A photographs and videos. The images in this case were described as harrowing, and Nappin by his own admission, not only wishes to view indecent images, but to also act on those desires, and presents a very high risk of serious harm to female children under 10.

A man has been convicted of multiple sexual offences against a young child.

Simon John Hayden-Reno, 28, was convicted after a trial at Croydon Crown Court on Wednesday, May 25 of one count of rape of a girl under 13.

Hayden-Reno, of Cudham Drive in New Addington, had previously pleaded guilty to 13 further sexual offences.

These are:

• Three counts of assault a girl under 13 by penetration;
• Six counts of making an indecent photograph of a child;
• Three counts of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity;
• One count of assault of a girl under 13 by touching.

He was found not guilty of a second count of rape of a girl under 13.

He will be sentenced later in the year on a date to be arranged.

The offences took place from 2017 to 2018 mainly at a residential premises in New Addington.

Hayden-Reno was known to his victim, but not related to her, and took advantage of any time that he was alone with her.

On October 4, 2018 the victim, who was under ten-years-old, told her mum what had been happening and this was reported to police.

An immediate investigation began by detectives from the South Area Child Abuse Investigation Team.

Hayden-Reno was arrested on Sunday, October 7, 2018 and interviewed, but he denied the allegation.

The young victim was supported by specialist officers and other professional agencies who supported her and her family.

The young age and vulnerability of the victim meant that police had to conduct a rigorous investigation to carefully amass the necessary evidence.

Numerous statements were taken and it was during a forensic search of Hayden – Reno’s phone that the indecent images of children were uncovered.

On Wednesday, May 5, Hayden-Reno was charged with the offences.

Detective Constable Heidi Lee, the investigating officer, said: “Firstly I want to pay tribute to the very young victim and her family.

"It took a great deal of courage for this child to come forward and talk about the abuse she had suffered.

"But thanks to her, and her family’s bravery, this man has been convicted.

"I would like to encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual crime to come forward and speak to police; they will be supported and their voice too can be heard.

“As for Hayden-Reno he has vilely taken advantage of his proximity to a very young girl to exploit her.

"He is a sexual predator and I am glad he has been convicted, he now faces a very long time in prison and it is thoroughly deserved.”

A sex offender banned from being naked in public who exposed his buttocks and defecated in front of a stranger has been acquitted. Marcus Dalby, of Ashford, was handed the Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) last year following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court. It was designed to keep the public safe after the 29-year-old was found guilty of performing a sex act in front of a schoolchild on his porch. Yet just three months later, in November 2021, Dalby defecated on his hands and assaulted another stranger as she walked home on a path near Ashford International Station. He was charged with common assault and being in breach of a SHPO. But a judge told jurors today Dalby had no case to answer for the charge of breaching the SHPO, as the previous court order was not fit for purpose. After prosecutors and the defence thrashed out legal arguments, it appeared the issue was the court order's wording. The argument has been whether or not the prosecution could prove the defendant was in fact naked. Although designed to protect the public, the order only made it illegal for Dalby to be naked or appear to be naked in public. Prosecutor Sophie Stannard argued Dalby was indeed naked while exposing the cheeks of his bottom in the direction of his victim, after partially pulling down his underwear. But defence barrister Gordon Ross highlighted Dalby had only momentarily exposed his buttocks, which did not legally constitute nakedness. Judge Mark Weekes ruled in Mr Ross favour after considering the Oxford Dictionary definition of the word: Having no clothes on the body. He told jurors Dalby had no case to answer and the previous Sexual Harm Prevention Order was not fit for purpose. The SHPO prohibited this defendant from appearing naked or to be seeming to be naked in a public place. The argument has been whether or not the prosecution could prove the defendant was in fact naked. Jurors were ordered to deliver a not guilty verdict before Dalby pleaded guilty to common assault, which he had previously denied. Dalby was exposing and touching his buttocks, while defecating, with the mess on his hand, as he overtook the girl, who is in her late teens, the jury heard previously. Looking into her eyes Dalby then held onto the girl, trying to grab her by the throat, as she tried to free herself while screaming, the court heard. A police investigation led to Dalby being identified on CCTV and subsequently arrested, however, he denied any wrongdoing in a police interview. Dalby, of Pollard Close, told officers he found the girl attractive from behind and wished to speak with her, and hoped to make her laugh by exposing his buttocks, the court heard. He argued he unintentionally broke wind and tried to catch his poo and denied assaulting the woman, jurors were told. Fighting back tears from the stand on the first day of Dalby's trial, the complainant described him overtaking her and then acting fidgety. I didnt understand why someone would do something like that I was disgusted, I didnt think it was real, she told jurors. When he came towards me, his hands came towards my throat and there was fighting, his hands were everywhere. She described his hands as dirty and probably with faeces on them, adding Dalby approached her three or four times while entirely silent. I just started screaming probably for help. No one heard me, she went on. She described how Dalby then fled, giving her the opportunity to run home. I was in a panic and I fell to the floor, she explained. Dalby will be held on remand pending probation reports and will be sentenced at the same court on June 17.

A judge was left speechless after hearing how another clip showed a baby being raped A paedophile's sick stash of child sex abuse videos included a half-hour film of him molesting a child. Convicted sex offender Peter Wilson moved to Merseyside after being released from prison and going "missing". The 32-year-old was eventually tracked down to a hotel in Litherland. Police discovered he had downloaded twisted files including a video of a baby being raped, which left a judge speechless when it was described in court. But a further movie showed Wilson himself sexually abusing a young girl - then turning to the camera to reveal his face. Liverpool Crown Court heard Wilson was first jailed for two and a half years in September 2018 for attempting to incite children to engage in and watch sexual activity, plus downloading and distributing indecent images of children. He was released from prison in December 2019. Within six months, Kent Police learned child sex abuse images had been uploaded to Skype via an IP address at his home in Sevenoaks. Officers raided the house on June 10, 2020 and spoke to Wilson and his dad. Wilson claimed he had been sent "links" by Pridefall, which Max Saffman, prosecuting, said was "a group that disrupts the LGBTQ community". Police seized Honor and Nokia mobile phones, with the former containing 140 illegal files, including 27 Category A indecent images - the most serious category - involving children as young as five being raped. Wilson was recalled to prison on licence, before he was released again in March 2021. Mr Saffman said: "He went missing and Kent Police were unable to trace him." The pervert was arrested by Merseyside Police at a hotel in Linacre Road on December 21. Wilson had to keep police informed of his digital devices under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). However, he only handed over one Alcatel mobile phone and didn't mention a Nokia handset hidden under his pillow. He said: "I forgot that one was there." The Nokia revealed Wilson had shared 10 child sex abuse files, including rape images, with five accounts online, via Kik Messenger and Wickr Me. Over three months he had also downloaded 338 illegal files, including 48 Category A images. Mr Saffman described one Category A video, which showed a baby girl aged six to 12 months being raped. The courtroom then fell silent. After a pause, Judge Brian Cummings, QC, said: "A baby." Mr Saffman said other descriptions were also "repulsive". Wilson admitted two counts of possessing and two counts of downloading indecent images in relation to the Kent investigation. He admitted breaching his SHPO and three counts of downloading, two counts of distributing and one count of possessing indecent images, plus one count of possessing a prohibited image, in respect of the Merseyside raid. Ken Heckle, defending, conceded his client would receive a prison sentence. He accepted reports considered him to be "a danger to children". He said: "The defendant does accept your honour that he does get sexual gratification in respect of looking at these terrible images. Why he gets that sexual gratification is something that he wants to look into and try to resolve. "To say the defendant has a complex background would perhaps not do justice to it. He's someone who has got lots of contradictions in his life, in respect of his sexuality, his religion and his mental health background." Mr Heckle said Wilson suffered with a social communication disorder, was possibly autistic and had attended a "special school". He said Wilson had "complications with regard as to who he is", was "estranged" from his family and "appears to be a bit of a loner". Judge Cummings said a summary of the videos recovered in Litherland also referred to a 32-minute Category A video, showing Wilson abusing a child. The court heard he was not charged with any offence in respect of the clip because it happened abroad and "outside this jurisdiction". The judge said Wilson would not be sentenced for the activity shown in that video. But he said it would be "madness" for him not to take it into account when considering whether Wilson was "dangerous", as defined in law. Judge Cummings said a description referred to Wilson facing the camera at the end of the clip. After a short adjournment, Mr Heckle said Wilson confirmed it was him. Mr Heckle said: "Your honour is entitled to take that into account in your general views about dangerousness. It would not affect the custodial element [of the sentence], but it could affect the length of the extended licence, should your honour find him dangerous." Referring to the baby rape video, Judge Cummings said: "It is quite unspeakable." He said: "The child could scarcely have been younger or more vulnerable." He told Wilson: "These offences of course involve serious harm being caused to defenceless children, even including babies as we've seen, for the gratification of people like you. You therefore form part of the market, without which this activity would not occur, or at any rate, not on the same industrial scale."

A transgender man who tricked three women into sexual relationships by using a prosthetic penis has been convicted of assault by penetration. Tarjit Singh, who was born a female named Hannah Walters but now identifies as a man, had abusive relationships with each of his three victims between June 2010 and March 2016. During the course of the relationships, the 32-year-old would wear clothes during sex and use a prosthetic penis in the dark. When the victims began to ask questions, Singh became abusive and manipulative and told one of them there was more to a relationship than sex and that she should learn to talk about her feelings more. Singh was convicted of three counts of assault by penetration, six counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and one count of making a threat to kill following a trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court. Describing the sexual contact, one victim said: "He looked like a guy, he acted like a guy." The victim only discovered Singh had female genitalia after finding his strap-on prosthetic penis some months into their relationship. She told police officers that she felt so stupid that she had fallen for such lies. Singh told another victim that he had been born male, had a sex change to become female, and now wanted to be male again. The third victim met Singh after receiving a message from the dating website Plenty of Fish in 2014. Soon into their relationship, Singh told her that he would be having a sex change to become female. The victim met with Singh after what she believed was the sex change operation, and noticed that he now had breasts but no scarring. How the suspect was caught Singh was caught out after this relationship became abusive, and the victim made a complaint to police. The investigation then linked back to two earlier victims. During the trial, the prosecution was able to present mobile phone evidence that showed a history of websites visited by Singh, which included FreeToMProsthetics.com - a company making ultra-realistic prosthetic penises. Melissa Garner, from the CPS, said: "These victims have been deceived, betrayed and lied to in the most disturbing and traumatic of ways. One of the victims was just 16 years old when she met the defendant. "Tarjit Singh, who was born as Hannah Walters, presented himself as a man, wore men's clothing and used a man's name. He tricked three innocent women into believing he was male and when questioned, he violently attacked them and intimidated them into continuing relationships. "Singh has never admitted his crimes and has continued to claim that these victims were aware of his gender. "The victims in this case have shown immense courage in coming to court and giving evidence. "Sexual offences can be some of the most complex cases that we prosecute. I hope these convictions go some way in providing the victims with closure. The CPS is committed to bringing sexual offenders to justice." Singh will be sentenced at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 27 July.

A FORMER primary school teacher has been jailed for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl he was tutoring in Bournemouth. Sylvanathan Naidoo, 65, deliberately abused his position of trust in a calculated way to groom his victim. A Bournemouth Crown Court judge told Naidoo that his offending would likely affect the girl for the rest of her life. The defendant, of Woodborough, Nottingham, was sentenced to eight years imprisonment on Monday, May 23, after he pleaded guilty to eight counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching and one count of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration all committed last summer. Sentencing judge Recorder Don Tait said: You were in a position of trust and you deliberately, in a calculated way, abused that position of trust." You have lost everything, your family and home but that is your fault entirely," he added. The court heard no concerns or safeguarding issues had ever been raised about Naidoo during his teaching career, which spanned more than 20 years until he decided to retire in 2012 as he felt he was too old to be a primary school teacher. The judge imposed a one-year extended licence period as he deemed the defendant to be an offender of particular concern. Prosecuting, Tom Wright said Naidoo had delivered two tutoring sessions to the victim at her home without any issues before committing the sexual assaults across three separate sessions. Mr Wright said the activity came to an end when the victims mother came into the room unannounced where the offender was alone with the girl and she saw him in a compromising position. The court heard he claimed he was administering a massage. Naidoo left the property a short time later and the victim made disclosures to her parents that day. Following his arrest, the defendant gave no comment in interview. Mr Wright said during at least one of the incidents Naidoo made comments asking the girl if she liked what he was doing to her. It is impossible to know whether this is a case that is going to lead to severe psychological harm, Mr Wright said. Mitigating, Guy Ladenburg said the defendant, who had no previous convictions, had sincere remorse and his apology for what he did was genuine. Mr Ladenburg said it was accepted there had been an abuse of trust, while those who had provided character statements about the defendant described their astonishment at the entirely out of character offending. Recorder Tait made Naidoo subject to a sexual harm prevention order, while the defendant was placed on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life. The judge said in his opinion the only mitigation in the case was the defendants guilty pleas. It is impossible to know what affect your behaviour and your offending have had on this young girl, said Recorder Tait. Naidoo, who wore a dark suit for the hearing was motionless in the dock as Recorder Tait handed down the sentence. The judge added: I have no doubt that this will affect her for the rest of her life - how it will affect her nobody knows. Offences like these against a young girl stay with them for life one way or another.

A convicted rapist ended up living in a tent in Hanley Park after finding himself homeless. David Bailey was back in court this week for breaching an order after failing to tell police where he was living.

The 27-year-old neglected to notify officers that he was stopping at an address in Crown Bank, Hanley, for three months. And he was three days late notifying them that he was of no fixed abode while he was sleeping rough in Hanley Park.

Now Bailey has been sentenced to a three-year community order at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Maria Brannan said the defendant was convicted of rape in 2014 and was placed on the sex offenders' register indefinitely. He attended Longton Police Station on February 7 to register his address as no fixed abode and was told he would have to return every seven days.

But he failed to register on February 14 and attended the station on February 17 after being contacted by police. He said he had been living in a tent on Hanley Park and had to live outside Birmingham Police Station after a row with his mum.

Miss Brannan said: "That was reported in the local press together with a photograph of the defendant which led to the second set of offences."

She said on November 17 the defendant had registered as no fixed address. But following the newspaper report police received a call from a man who had been told someone living in his property was a sex offender.

Miss Brannan said: "He looked at the photo and recognised the person. He had a 12 bedroom property and the defendant had lived there with his mum since November. Police attended and removed him from the address on April 3."

Bailey, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the notification requirements of the sex offenders' register.

Paul Cliff, mitigating, said the most serious matter was the defendant failing to tell police he was living at the address in Crown Bank. He said the defendant has had issues with accommodation. Mr Cliff added: "The court could impose an immediate sentence but it would not be a long time until he is released."

As part of the community order, Bailey must complete a thinking skills programme and a rehabilitation activity requirement for 40 days.

Judge David Fletcher said: "I know you have spent a considerable period of the last few years living on the streets. That doesn't mean that you are incapable of being proactive in doing things. You know where the various people that can help you are.

"Just failing by a day to notify the police of a change of address or where your address is will almost certainly result in you being charged. The more of these charges you get the more likely it is you will go straight to prison for longer and longer periods."

Pervert Robert Alexander wants to put his criminal past behind him as he learns to cope with the stigma of being a convicted sex offender.

Lawyers representing the 24-year-old told Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court that he is keen to become a more responsible member of society.

It comes after Alexander once again appeared in the dock for breaching two court orders. The defendant had been made the subject of an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and was placed on the sex offenders' register for 10 years after he forced schoolboys to take part in sexually explicit videos.

But he breached the SHPO by using Snapchat, as it deletes internet history, and he also failed to tell police about a change of address. Now Alexander has been handed a three-year community order at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court.

Prosecutor Nick Tatlow said under the terms of the SHPO the defendant is prohibited from deleting any internet use. But police went to his address on January 7 and requested he make available any device capable of accessing the internet or storing images.

Mr Tatlow said: "The risk assessor identified a Snapchat image. One of the features of Snapchat is that pictures are only available for a short period of time so the defendant is unable to use it as it doesn't have capacity to keep the history of internet use."

In his police interview the defendant admitted breaching the SHPO by using Snapchat.

Police made an unannounced visit to Alexander's address in West Street, Leek, on April 21. Mr Tatlow said: "There was no response to their knocking. They discovered the defendant had last paid rent in February and was not living at the flat for some months. Further enquiries led police to another address.

"The defendant called police and said he had left his previous address and was staying at Westminster Road. He agreed to meet them the next day. Police went there the next day and he was arrested for breach of the notification requirements."

In his police interview the defendant said he had started to move his belongings from the flat three months earlier and moved in fully with his brother-in-law six weeks previously.

Alexander, of West Street, Leek, pleaded guilty to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and failing to comply with notification requirements of the sex offenders' register.

Anis Ali, mitigating, said the defendant fell into rent arrears. He said: "Knowing he was going to appear before a court and realising what could happen he took it upon himself to vacate the premises."

He said the defendant requires assistance and support but has curtailed his excessive consumption of alcohol.

Mr Ali added: "He realises he has to put his criminality behind him to address the stigma and become a more responsible member of the community."

As part of the community order Alexander must complete a mental health treatment requirement for 12 months and a rehabilitation activity requirement for 40 days.

Judge David Fletcher said: "You know that prison is a distinct possibility today. On this occasion what I think is better for you is you have ongoing contact with those who are in a position to assist you." Alexander was ordered to pay 475 costs.
