A former boxing coach treated an underage girl as his sexual plaything , a court was told.

Robert Moseleys victim was a young teenager when the regular assaults happened.

During one period Moseley sexually assaulted the girl several times a week.

But when she got up the courage to go to the police he denied what she said and she was forced to give evidence during a trial at Leicester Crown Court .

The trial ended earlier this month with Moseley being found guilty of two counts of sexual assault. Those two charges relate to hundreds of separate incidents.

What the judge said

Moseley (55), of Bowhill Grove, Thurnby Lodge , Leicester, was back at Leicester Crown Court for sentencing on Friday, where Judge Timothy Spencer jailed him.

The judge said the sex assaults had happened roughly five times a week over 18 months.

He said: This was an assault upon a vulnerable victim and happened with a worrying frequency it was all the time. You thought you could use her as some sort of sexual plaything.

Its not surprising this has had a huge impact upon her.

You derived sexual gratification from this.

This was a young woman going through puberty. It is a truly awful thing that you visited upon her.

Ive detected no remorse in you. You have more than a degree of arrogance about you.

There has been a suicide attempt

Earlier in the hearing, Moseleys barrister, Helen Johnson, told the judge her client had tried to kill himself as a result of the allegations, which he continues to deny.

She said: Theres nothing I can say about the offences as his position remains as it was.

He was arrested on April 16, 2017, and has had to live with this hanging over him.

Mr Moseleys life ended as he had known it. He has suffered from some mental health issues and there has been a suicide attempt.

During his sentencing speech, Judge Spencer told Moseley he had extended the torment for his accuser as well: You say this has hung over you for two years it has hung over her for two years.

You fought the trial in front of a jury and put her through having to relive all of this.

He jailed Moseley for two-and-a-half years and imposed a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

I imagined outing him at his funeral

Moseleys victim, speaking after the sentencing, told LeicestershireLive the pain she had been through was made much worse by Moseleys denial.

She said: Back when it was happening I couldnt tell anyone because I was just a kid and I didnt think anyone would believe me hed deny it all and everyone would call me a liar."

She said back then her mental health was already bad and she had no friends and no social life.

It was terrible because I could see no way out of it.

When it was happening, the only end to it I could imagine was waiting till he died and outing him at his funeral.

The woman said she finally went to the police after beginning to fear Moseley would do the same thing to another victim.

She said: Later on my mental health started getting really bad and I was panicking about what he might do to other kids.

I came forward about this because I couldnt let him do it to someone else I had to limit his access to kids.

A PAEDOPHILE raped a vulnerable 12-year-old boy in Rugby after grooming him over a period of months.

Adam Craig Pike, 30, of Jersey Way, Barwell, Leicestershire, was sentenced to nine years in prison at Coventry Crown Court on Thursday (March 28), after being found guilty of raping a child under 13 and causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

The court heard how Pike befriended his victim in Rugby in 2015 when the boy was just 12.

Pike developed the relationship over a number of months before he started to abuse the boy, promising him gifts in return for performing sexual acts.

The offences occurred some time between 2015 and 2016.

Pike was arrested in July 2016 after the victim’s mother reported the offences to police in Coventry.

Det Con Scott Loughran from Rugby CID said: “Pike specifically targeted a vulnerable boy and exploited him for his own sexual gratification.

“He is clearly a danger to children having gained his victim’s trust, promising him gifts, in order to satisfy his disturbing impulses. This is a type of behaviour typically associate with people who exploit children.

“The victim and his family have shown immense courage in supporting this investigation and trial. I hope this sentencing gives them some form of closure as they attempt to move on with their lives.

“Warwickshire Police is committed to investigating all reports of sexual abuse against children and I hope this outcome gives others the confidence to come forward.”

Pike was also ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register and made subject of a sexual harm prevention order.

He was found not guilty of two counts of rape and one count of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

A pair of depraved paedophiles have been found guilty of raping a boy aged 13.

Sick duo John Cox and Jamie Cross twice raped the teenager in 2005 before being arrested years later.

The victim went through years of torment and eventually found evidence to convict the pair, one of whom admitted to the sexual activity in a Facebook message, LeicestershireLive reports .

Both men were found guilty by a jury of two counts each of raping the 13-year-old.

In a personal impact statement, the victim admitted: "I felt angry at what they'd done to me and my body."

He described the abuse as affecting his education and sending him off the rails for several years, and said he suffered recurring nightmares with the defendants' "faces coming out of the walls and shouting at me."

When messaging them on Facebook, years later, he said he felt "fear and disgust."

Although both defendants denied the rapes, Cross had referred to sexual activity having taken place when the victim later engaged him in text conversations - which was evidence used in court.

Sentencing the pair to substantial terms in jail, Judge Robert Brown said: "You were both in your mid-20's at the time and the complainant was 13.

"The circumstances in which you abused him were a gross breach of trust by you."

Judge Brown told Cox, 38, and Cross, 37, both of Simons Close, Wigston Harcourt, near Leicester: "You took advantage of him and you raped him twice."

Cox raped the boy during two incidents - including when Cross also took turns and twice raped the victim.

Judge Brown said: "I can't and don't attempt to begin to describe the pain and suffering he's gone through ... the pain is real, it's lasting and will never leave him."

The judge said the victim was accused of lying during the trial and added: "For him it was like going through it all again.

"You're both still in denial and still maintain you didn't abuse him.

"The jury by their verdicts have found you guilty - and guilty you are in the way described.

"It was a clear abuse of trust, you planned these encounters and took advantage of this young boy."

The court heard both defendants had previous convictions relating to child pornography and were given suspended sentences in 2017.

Judge Brown told the defendants: "There's no remorse, there's no previous good character, there's no mitigation apart from what I've already referred to in your character references."

He said both defendants would receive "sex offenders' treatment" whilst in custody.

During the trial, Richard Thatcher, prosecuting, said the boy had got to know them when they were running a first aid service, providing medical care at public events.

Mr Thatcher said that when the victim became an adult: "He entrapped Cross in a conversation on Facebook.

"He wanted to get them to admit what they'd done."

Giving evidence in the trial caused the victim's fear and pain to resurface that he described afterwards "felt like a tornado."

The complainant said the court process had proved successful and added: "I hope if anything similar happened to anyone else, I suggest they come forward."

James Varley, mitigating for Cross said: "For the most part he's lived a hard working and respectable life."

He said: "It was one incident.

"There was a break and then a resumption; not an ongoing course of conduct as the two offences were within the same episode."

He said the offences happened 14 years ago and added: "He knows he's going to spend a period of time in custody.

Paul Fleming, for Cox, said that references spoke well of the defendant regarding many positive aspects of his life.

He added: "The references speak of how he has been well regarded by others who know him."

Cox and Cross were each jailed for 12 years.

They were placed on life-time sexual harm prevention orders and will have to record all future addresses on the police sexual offenders' register.

Both were "automatically barred" from ever working with children, the judge said.

The defendants were also on trial accused of less serious sexual assaults upon the same victim, during the same period, but both Cox and Cross were acquitted by the jury on those counts.

A man who claimed he had sex with a woman while he was asleep has been jailed for five years for rape.

Karl Gammon had met the victim and her friend at a bar in Loughborough in March 2016 before attacking her.

The 24-year-old, of Albert Street in Loughborough, told a trial he suffered from "sexsomnia", a form of non-insane automatism that meant he had sex with her without his knowledge or memory.

He was found guilty on 8 August after a trial at Leicester Crown Court.

Gammon, who was sentenced on Friday, has also been placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.

Leicestershire Police said DNA evidence proved he had had sex with the woman.

Det Sgt Tom Brenton, who led Leicestershire Police's investigation into the case, said the victim was still "living with the trauma" of the attack more than two years later.

"Gammon's victim has shown tremendous courage throughout the judicial process," he said.

"Not only did Gammon prey on his victim when she was vulnerable, he claimed not to have knowledge of the rape when questioned by officers and as such she was forced to relive her ordeal in court."

A violent teenage rapist who "hunted" his victim in a park and hit her over the head with a paving slab on his 17th birthday has been jailed for life.

Charlie Pearce researched rape online before carrying out his attack "of animalistic savagery", in July last year, in Leicester's Victoria Park.

He denied intending to kill the woman, who is in her 20s, but admitted two counts of rape, causing grievous bodily harm with intent and stealing her handbag.

However, jurors found the "exceptionally dangerous" defendant guilty of attempted murder after he left the victim "hanging by a thread".

Pearce, of Clarendon Park, Leicester, was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 11 years at the Old Bailey in London.

He was handed seven-and-a-half years' custody for the rapes to run concurrently alongside his life sentence, with no separate penalty for the remaining charges.

Sentencing the teenager, Mr Justice Haddon-Cave said the defendant had carried out an attack of a sexual or sadistic nature and that he "intended to silence the victim forever".

"The defendant set out that evening to mark his 17th birthday to find a woman to attack and violently rape," he said.

"He can be seen on CCTV circling the park and hunting (the victim) down as she walked through the park. The attack itself was of animistic savagery. The offending was exceptionally serious."

Pearce dragged the victim into undergrowth before hitting her over the head, the court heard.

Police had been alerted after the start of his attack was witnessed by others in the park.

However, the court was told officers were unable to find anything because of a lack of a precise location being reported.

A passing cyclist spotted a pool of blood and a hair clip on the ground about an hour later and went into bushes and comforted the victim until paramedics arrived.

The follow day, police issued a CCTV image of Pearce running towards the victim holding the slab. His family recognised him and informed officers.

The victim awoke from a coma in the following weeks with no recollection of what had happened.

"I do not remember screaming when I was assaulted, though I am aware that screams were reported to the police by various people that night," she said in an emotional statement.

"My screams did not stop my attacker from causing me further harm and nor did they help me be found so I could receive medical care I needed.

"Knowing that my screams did not change anything for me that night continues to trouble me."

Phillip Bradley QC, defending, said Pearce accepted he was "entirely responsible" for the violence.

Dale Wycherley locked his victims in a Barlestone flat as assaulted them

A teenager who groomed and sexually abused two young girls in Barlestone has been jailed for four years.

Dale Wycherley, of HMP Nottingham, encouraged his teenage victims to send indecent photographs and exchange inappropriate messages on Facebook.

He arranged to meet the girls, aged 13 and 15, in Barlestone and persuaded them to buy alcohol before sexually assaulting them in a village flat.

The 15-year-old girl said she had been left scared of men and had made several suicide attempts since the abuse in a victim impact statement read to Leicester Crown Court.

Wycherley, 19, was sentenced to four years in jail on Friday and was ordered to spend an extended three years on licence when released.

He was given a lifetime sexual harm prevention order and will be placed on the sex offenders register for life.

In June last year, Wycherley arranged to meet the two girls through social media before assaulting them.

The girls reported the incident to the police and Wycherley was arrested.

As part of their investigations, officers seized his iPad and mobile phone and discovered indecent images of four other victims.

In a victim impact statement read by prosecuting barrister Philip Gibbs, the 15-year-old girl said: I have self-harmed, maybe once a day and I have made suicide attempts because of the shame of what happened. Im scared he will hurt other girls who will go through what I am going through.

I feel scared and nervous around men in general. It has taken me six months to be able to trust the support staff I live with. I find it really hard to be around men.

Detective Constable Amanda Thwaites, who has worked on the case, said: The victims in the case have shown tremendous courage in coming forward and speaking about their ordeal.

I know it has not been easy for them to go over what happened, but ultimately, without their support we would not have been able to bring Wycherley to justice.

We are committed to tackling child sex exploitation and take all reports seriously and investigate them thoroughly.

"It can be very difficult for people to come forward and report abuse, whether it happened a long time ago or more recently.

We have a specialist team who deal with these cases and we work closely with social workers and other partner agencies to provide the best possible support and help to victims.

I would urge anyone who thinks they could be a victim to come forward. Anyone that does contact us will have their report treated with the upmost sensitivity and specialist officers will be on hand to support and assist victims.

Leicestershire County Council staff are part of the specialist team tackling child sexual exploitation and have offered support to the victims and family members.

Ivan Ould, cabinet member for children and families, said: It takes immense bravery for victims to speak out and Id like to praise the young people in this case.

Were committed to tackling CSE and our social workers work hand-in-hand with police officers to help victims feel confident about disclosing abuse and exploitation. Im pleased this support is helping to secure convictions.

At an earlier hearing Wycherley pleaded guilty to:

• making Category C indecent images of a child between October 2014 and July 2015
• meeting a child following sexual grooming in June 2016
• sexual assault in June 2016 inciting a child to engage in sexual activity between January and June 2016
• making Category A, B and C indecent photographs of a child between January and June 2016
• inciting a child to engage in sexual activity in March 2016
• making indecent photographs of a child in March 2016
• inciting a child to engage in sexual activity in May 2016

A paedophile was given a taste of life inside jail by a judge in an effort to get him to stay out of trouble. Lee Smith, 50, had first been caught with indecent child images in 2016 and given a suspended sentence, along with a sexual harm prevention order banning him from doing various online activities and and controlling his use of electronic devices.

However, in February last year he was caught with more indecent images on his phone, which he had attempted to delete, along with internet searches for 'cute schoolgirls' and 'Asian girls'. He pleaded guilty to breaching his order and appeared at Leicester Crown Court for sentencing on Friday, (January 20)

Michelle Harding, representing Smith, of Rutland Avenue, Aylestone, Leicester said he was "clearly in denial" about his offending and that "a lot of work needs to be done with Mr Smith over a length of time" to stop him offending again. She said any jail sentence would prevent him getting that help. 

Smith wept in the dock while Ms Harding described how Smith's father had recently suffered a broken bone in his neck and Smith was applying to be his carer. The court heard Smith had, with the consent of social services, recently been living with a woman who had two children.

But Judge Timothy Spencer agreed to a new, tougher sexual harm prevention order banning him from contact with any under-16s and from going within 50 metres of a school between now and July 2026. Those changes to his order were opposed by Ms Harding on the grounds of Smith's human rights but Judge Spencer told her: "It's deeply worrying what was found on his phone - he's not in the position of an ordinary citizen."

Noting the state of Smith as he cried in the dock, Judge Spencer told him: "I've been watching you and I think a realisation has come to you how serious a position you've put yourself in." Having agreed to the tougher restrictions, the judge sent Smith - who had been out on bail - to spend more than two hours in the cells while he considered the sentence.

After Smith was brought back to court, Judge Spencer gave Smith an eight-month sentence, suspended for two years. The judge told him: "On October 17, 2016, you were before this court for serious offences related to indecent images of children.

"You were fortunate you were given a suspended sentence and you should have taken that as a very clear warning. You've been in the cell a few hours and if I see you again you will go to the cells for months if not years."

A childrens activity centre instructor has been jailed for nine months after pleading guilty to sexually abusing two young boys

Instructor Adam Craig Sills (35) pleaded guilty to sexual assaulting two schoolboys at the Govilon Activity Centre located at the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park

Prosecution told Northampton Crown court that the offences dated back to 2012. Sills finally admitted the offences in July of this year.

During the trial, the court heard that the 10-year-old boys were on a week long school trip to Wales when the abuse took place. Although Sills had pleaded guilty to abusing two boys, it was suspected he had molested others.

Sills was placed on a sexual offences prevention order and ordered to sign the sex offenders register

He was also given an order to prevent him from working with children in the future.

A CHILD-killer and paedophile responsible for a New Forest murder has died at an old peoples home.

Albert Goozee, 86, was sentenced to death after his landlady and her 14-year-old daughter were found dead following a picnic near Cadnam more than 50 years ago.

The paranoid schizophrenic was saved from the hangmans noose when the Home Secretary intervened. He was sent to Broadmoor, but following his release in the 1970s, he was later convicted of other crimes including sexually assaulting girls aged 12 and 13.

Just last month it was revealed that Goozee was living in Cedar Court care home in Wigston, Leicestershire, where his dark past was not known.

A national newspaper claimed Goozee had been refusing food and lay in his bed clutching rosary beads. He is thought to have died on Wednesday.

Goozee, a fitters mate and former serviceman, had been lodging at the Alexandra Road, Parkstone, home of Thomas Leakey, his wife Lydia, 53, and daughter Norma before the killings.

On June 17, 1956, motorists discovered Goozee on a forest road with stab wounds, leaning over the bonnet of a car. A trail of blood led to the bodies of his landlady and her daughter.

In court prosecutors told jurors how Mrs Leakey, who was 20 years older than Goozee, had been his lover, and he had decided that the only way out was to kill her and her daughter.

In his defence, he claimed Norma had gone to pick bluebells. He claimed that on her return she had found him with Mrs Leakey and axed her mother, who went wild with a knife.

Jurors took less than four hours to convict him of murdering Norma and a second charge of murdering Mrs Leakey remained on file.

The double murders were depicted in the film Intimate Relations, starring Julie Walters and Rupert Graves, which caused a storm on its 1996 release.

On 21 November 1983, 15-year-old Lynda Mann took a shortcut on her way home from babysitting instead of taking her normal route home. She did not return and her parents and neighbours spent the night searching for her. The next morning, she was found raped and strangled on a deserted footpath known locally as the Black Pad. Using forensic science techniques available at the time, police linked a semen sample taken from her body to a person with type A blood and an enzyme profile that matched only 10% of males. With no other leads or evidence, the case was left open.

On 31 July 1986, a second 15-year-old girl, Dawn Ashworth, left her home to visit a friend's house. Her parents expected her to return at 9:30 pm; when she failed to do so they called police to report her missing. Two days later, her body was found in a wooded area near a footpath called Ten Pound Lane. She had been beaten, savagely raped and strangled. The modus operandi matched that of the first attack, and semen samples revealed the same blood type.

An initial suspect was Richard Buckland, a local 17-year-old with learning difficulties who, while innocent of both crimes, revealed knowledge of Ashworth's body, and admitted to the Ashworth crime under questioning, denying the first murder.
