Description

Following a thorough Thames Valley Police investigation, a woman has been sentenced for non-recent child sex offences in Aylesbury.  

Maryam Jabourri, aged 66, previously known as Beatrice Cameron, was sentenced to sixteen and a half years imprisonment and a restraining order has been granted indefinitely for both victims Aylesbury Crown Court yesterday (20/5). 

After a two-day trial at the same court, Jabourri pleaded guilty to seven counts of indecency with a child, three counts of indecent assault and one count each of inflicting grievous bodily harm, cruelty to a person under 16 years and attempted indecent assault on February 4 of this year. 

In the early 1980’s, Jabourri assaulted and sexually abused one victim, and sexually abused a second victim, both over a prolonged period of time which resulted in serious longterm physical and psychological harm to them. They were children at the time of the offences which occurred in Chesham. 

Jabourri undertook a voluntary interview on 10 May 2023 and was charged on 11 June 2024. 

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Aimee Stein of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit said:

“I would like to thank the victims for the strength, courage and bravery they have shown throughout this lengthy investigation and trial.  

“I understand that reporting and reliving such deeply personal and private experiences can be extremely difficult, and I am incredibly grateful for their courage in coming forward. 

“Maryam Jabourri’s conviction is a testament to Thames Valley Police’s commitment to bringing sexual offenders to justice. 

“Thames Valley Police takes sexual offences against children extremely seriously. Regardless of whether the offence occurred recently or many years ago, we will take action and pursue every opportunity to hold offenders accountable. 

“I encourage anyone with information about sexual offences, and anyone who has been a victim, to come forward and report it to the police.”
