Description
Paul Wallis, a 66-year-old man, has been sentenced for committing a series of child sexual offences over more than three decades.
The offences, which spanned from 1984 to 2016, involved indecent assault, sexually assaulting a child under 13, and sexual activity with a child. Wallis carried out the abuse when he was drunk and when opportunities arose, including attacking victims while they were asleep and vulnerable. Some of the incidents took place at his home in Hoades Wood Road, Sturry, during sleepovers. The crimes were committed against multiple victims, including an incident in the 1980s where he groped a 12-year-old. Four other victims also came forward regarding the abuse.
At Canterbury Crown Court, Wallis pleaded guilty before trial to three counts of indecent assault, one count of sexually assaulting a child under 13, and four counts of sexual activity with a child. Six additional sexual offence charges were ordered to lie on file. He was sentenced to seven years in prison.
