Callum Smith, 22, of Ash Lea Grove, Stalmine, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault of a male and two counts of sexual activity in the presence of a child at Preston Crown Court last month.

He was sentenced yesterday to a total of 15 months in prison.

He was also subjected to a sexual harm prevention order, and must sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

A CONVICTED paedophile was caught failing to register his devices to be monitored by police, a court heard.

Aaron Hutter was initially caught using internet chat rooms to contact young children by specialists using a fake profile.

Their investigations in 2015 uncovered evidence that he had also built up a collection of more than 1,000 indecent images of children as young as five – and some clips involving animals.

But three years on and despite being ordered to comply with a sexual harm prevention order, the 24-year-old admitted twice not registering his console and deleting his internet history on his iPhone.

Southampton Magistrates' Court heard that in May, Hutter failed to make the mobile phone available upon request to police and that he restored the factory settings on the phone.

He also didn't register the name he was using on his Xbox.

Previously, Hutter was handed an eight month suspended prison sentence for numerous charges of possessing indecent images.

At the time, Southampton Crown Court was told officials from the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) used a fake profile of a ten-year-old to snare him.

He was traced talking to a ten-year-old girl on social media and email.

Police raided his home and seized computer equipment containing 1,103 images – including 158 of the worst category, it was heard.

When sentencing Hutter, Judge Peter Henry said the images were “disturbing” and added: "No-one said you were directly involved in the abuse of these children but people are involved and they are in it to make money and in it to share these revolting images with people like you.

"The real victims are these young children."

Hutter, of Spring Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to the charges and was made the subject of a community order, which includes the requirement to complete 100 hours unpaid work within the next year.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

A detective who worked in a child abuse investigation unit has been jailed for abusing a young girl and making "gruesome" indecent images.

Det Con Chris Maitland, of Widey View, Plymouth, had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of sexually touching a child under the age of 13.

He also admitted 12 charges of taking and making indecent images of a child.

The 40-year-old was jailed for five years and four months at Southwark Crown Court.

He is employed in the Met's sexual offences, exploitation and child abuse command.

Maitland was originally arrested on 22 November last year on suspicion of possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

He was re-arrested on 15 March on suspicion of sexual touching, and later charged.

Scotland Yard said he was off duty at the time of the offences and is currently suspended.

When he pleaded guilty, Judge Nicholas Loraine-Smith referred to the material on his computer as "pretty gruesome".

A 20-year-old man from Staines has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexual abusing a five-year-old girl.

Tyler Eastley, of Lowlands Drive, was convicted of assaulting a girl under 13 by penetration after a four-day trial at Guildford Crown Court in July 2018.

Passing sentence on Friday (November 2), Judge Alexia Durran described Eastley as "an immature young man" with a history of substance abuse who had engaged in "a degree of grooming" before assaulting his victim.

Reading a statement from the victim's mother, prosecuting barrister Allister Walker said of the victim: "She has become a different child since the incident."

The statement went on to describe the victim's changed behaviour, saying she had become afraid of men in hats and police cars, as she thought Eastley might be in the back of one.

"She felt guilty and that she was to blame," Mr Walker read.

Speaking after the trial, but before sentencing, the mother had already described how the family had struggled to come to terms with Eastley's actions.

She said: "We are devastated by what has happened.

"We feel it is very important for people to be made aware of what he has done to such a young child and we sincerely hope that this will never happen again.

Speaking in mitigation, defence barrister Rupert Hallowes said: "The fact of the matter is this defendant has had a wretched upbringing characterised by violent relationships and perpetual instability.

"He is a defendant who has never managed to form a stable relationship with anyone."

Mr Hallowes went on to say Eastley was "not a hopeless case by any stretch of the imagination" and that "he knows he must take his medicine now".

However, he added that Eastley could well serve his full sentence behind bars "if he doesn't take steps to address his offending".

Judge Durran said Eastley would spend a maximum of nine years in prison and a further period on licence, during which time he could be recalled to prison for any further offences, and that he would serve a minimum of four-and-a-half years before being considered for parole.

She also imposed a sexual harm prevention order, banning him from staying in the same house as or having unsupervised contact with girls under 16, unless their parents had been informed of his offending and consented, and said his name would be placed on the sex offenders register.

A teenager from Blackpool, who sexually abused a number of young girls, has been jailed for over 12 years.

Ryan Garside, 18, of Orme Street, groomed his young victims on social media, before meeting up with them to carry out the horrific assaults.

He was sentenced at Preston Crown Court for 20 offences relating to four child victims between 2016 and 2017.

His abuse included the rape of a 13 year old girl in which he covered her face and used a school tie as a ligature.

He was between 16 and 17 when he committed the offences.

At an earlier hearing Garside pleaded guilty to one count of rape, ten counts of sexual activity with a child, one count of possession of indecent images, three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and five breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order – issued in May 2017.

Garside was given two sentences - nine years and seven months and an additional 32 months for breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order on numerous occasions.

He has also been placed on the Dangerous Offenders Register.

A SOUTHAMPTON man has been jailed for asking a 12 year old girl for sex.

Reice John Wills was described as an "isolated young man" in a "sad place" - and convicted at Southampton Crown Court after he was caught messaging the girl on Facebook.

Southampton Crown Court heard how Wills contacted the girl on messenger in July this year - making obscene suggestions of how they could celebrate the girl's thirteenth birthday.

But it also heard how Wills spent time in the attic of his mother's house alone - and had a history of being bullied.

The court was told how the 24 year old suffers from a limp, a speech impediment, cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Richard Tutt, mitigating, said Wills knew he had been "extraordinarily foolish" but that he was "remorseful" and had acted out of "desperation."

He added that Wills is "quite an isolated young man" with "only one loyal friend" and said: "He has been bullied throughout his life. It has made him socially isolated and tends to spend a lot of time inside.

"His self-confidence is quite low, his self esteem is quite low. He has access to the internet. It's easy for him to get gratification from younger girls.

"The reason he has done that is because of the way he has been feeling about himself."

Mr Tutt went on to say Wills had "no intention of doing anything" with the girl he messaged - and that he has "struggled to form age appropriate relationships."

But he also said that Wills "fears for the future" and is keen to find "purpose in life," - concluding his mitigation by saying Wills "is in a sad place and it's from that position that he comes from."

But handing the two year eight month sentence to Wills, Judge Parker said Wills had "specifically targeted a 12 or 13 year-old girl as she was a relatively easy target."

He added: "You are either in denial of the fact that you have an unsavoury interest in teenage girls or you have no understanding or insight into that concern of yours in children.

"It is obvious that you are sexually active. You pose a significant risk of serious harm to these girls and it's very difficult to see how long that will last.

"Either you recognise or not what you have done causes very serious harm to young girls."

In the summer of 2016 Wills, of Blackthorn Road Southampton, pleaded guilty to causing a child of under 16 to watch a sexual activity and asking her to undress.

He was handed a 12 month suspended sentence.

On October 19 this year Wills was sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, breaching a sexual harm prevention order by deleting internet history, having unsupervised contact with an under 16-year-old, and failing to comply with notification requirements.

On his release he will also have to serve an extended licence period of six years' supervision from the authorities.

A man who created a ‘step-by-step paedophile manual’ tried to blame ‘family and work’ pressures for his paedophile behaviour as he was jailed for just 16 months.

Nicholas Simon Smith’s 171-page document was called How to Practise Child Love – A Paedo’s Guide which he wrote was a ‘guide in how to engage in safe and harmless love with a child’.

Investigators discovered more than 10,000 indecent images at his home in Bollington, Cheshire, along with video clips showing child abuse.

The father-of-one’s house was raided in February 2017 and police retrieved his computer and USB sticks.

Judge David Hale, who viewed some of the document, described it as ‘absolutely repulsive’ at Chester Crown Court.

Among the 10,837 images, 133 were classified as ‘category A’ – involving the worst kinds of child abuse images.

Prosecutor Jayne Morris said the images had been collected over a period of more than 10 years.

Smith, 41, started in his mid to late 20s but then the offending became more frequent and compulsive over the years.

He told police that he started looking for material of girls aged 10 or 11 because of ‘family and work pressures’.

He admitted seven counts of possession of indecent images of children, possession of the manual, possession of indecent computer generated images depicting children and possession of extreme pornography.

Defending, Mark Connor said that the manual had been downloaded by Smith along ‘with a lot of other stuff’ and there was never any suggestion that there had been any contact offences.

He said: ‘His arrest has had a devastating effect on his family, he has lost a lot.’

He added that he had shown ‘shame and remorse’ about his actions.

His client had sought out treatment for his addiction to such material and was receiving weekly sessions of therapy.

Jailing Smith, Judge Hale said that the possession of the manual, the number of images and the length of time of the offending left him with no other option than immediate custody.

Smith was also made the subject of a 10 year sexual harm prevention order.

A CROSSHOUSE hospital worker has been jailed after being caught with a haul of child sex abuse and bestiality images.

Former Three Towns resident Christopher Anderson had access to thousands of patients personal details and medical records through his job in the records department at the hospital, and was found with more than 5,000 images of children as young as two-years-old being abused.

He appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week and was sentenced to 22 months imprisonment and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. The 29-year-old was also caught with images of adults engaged in sex acts with dogs after police raided his home in Irvine.

Twisted Anderson also kept thousands of images on his phone and even carried two USB drives with him crammed full of abuse files. He was arrested at his work and taken to the police station to be questioned, where officers discovered the files were just the tip of the iceberg due to his mobile phone and his memory sticks.

The details emerged when Anderson appeared in the dock at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last month to plead guilty over his sordid stash. He pleaded guilty to three charges - making child abuse images, possessing the illicit files, and being in possession of extreme pornographic material by having bestiality files, between March 2012 and September last year.

He admitted his guilt after the date he began making and possessing the files was changed from March 2004 when he was 14.

Procurator Fiscal Depute Peter Moyes said officers found a total of 4,957 still images and 195 films across the four devices, many of which were at the most extreme level.

Sheriff Watson told Anderson: The number and categorisation of the images is very serious, some related to children as young as two. In my view theres no alternative but to send you to prison.

He also made him the subject of a five-year-long Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO). It requires him to inform Police Scotlands National Offender Management Unit about all his internet-abled devices, give them his usernames and passwords and bans him from deleting or altering his internet history.

He is banned from having any contact with anyone under 17 and has to tell police if he has a relationship or makes friends with someone who has a child aged 17 or under.

A Chatham child rapist has been sentenced to nine and a half years in jail for historical sex offences against children.

Richard Riley, 66, of Kimberley Road in Stockwell, London, pleaded guilty to multiple child sex offences committed in the Chatham and London areas between 1982 and 1985.

He appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday (October 22) where he admitted four counts of rape of a child under 16 years of age and one count of indecent assault of a child under 16.

Riley was arrested on November 27 last year and was later charged.

He will be placed on the sex offenders register for an indefinite period.

Investigating officer, DC Rebecca Taft said:"Riley has acted in an appalling manner over a number of years.

"His actions have caused awful suffering and it is only right that he is to serve a substantial prison sentence.

"I would like to commend the bravery of the victim who showed great courage in coming forward to report the abuse and help us bring this man to justice."

An NSPCC spokesman added: "Rileys victim has shown incredible courage in speaking out about the awful abuse suffered at the hands of this predator.

No matter how long ago the abuse took place, without the right help and support sexual abuse will ruin lives.

"In Kent the NSPCC runs its Letting the Future service, where survivors of child sexual abuse can receive support to help them recover from their ordeal.

A MAN faces prison after sexually assaulting a woman outside a Southampton bar in a late night, drunken attack.

Tomasz Adam Boron twice attempted to touch his victim below the waist with his hand as she waited outside The London Hotel, on Oxford Street.

As she pleaded with him to stop, the 38-year-old grinned as the woman took a picture of him to give to police.

Southampton Magistrates' Court heard Boron had been out drinking with his colleagues but made a "horrible mistake" when he tried to get close to the woman.

Prosecutor Ryan Seneviratne told the court all options should be open to the court when considering what Boron's sentence should be - including prison.

He said: "This was a serious sexual offence on a stranger outside a bar...when bouncers at the bar saw what happened they asked him to leave.

"The woman shouted at Boron twice to stop and that's when the bouncers became involved."

The court heard that the following morning Boron woke up with "a big headache and a hangover" as he began to piece together what had happened the previous night.

Will Day, mitigating, said: "He made a horrible mistake and has committed a very nasty offence on that young lady.

"He will accept any punishment for his actions.

"He is sorry and deeply ashamed by his behaviour."

Mr Day added that once the police were called by the victim, Boron waited for them to arrive and was arrested outside the bar at around 10.30pm on August 4.

In his interview, Mr Day said, Boron, of Millbrook Road East, Southampton, admitted attempting to sexually touch the woman.

He also told the court that while Boron was waiting, the victim took pictures of him, in which he was smiling at her.

During his hearing, Boron pleaded guilty to sexual assault on a female.

He will now sign on to the sex offenders' register.

A pre-sentence report detailing Boron's behaviour will be compiled by members of the probation team before he is sentenced at the same court next month.

This is the predatory pimp who was 'at the heart' of the horrific toll of abuse against young girls in Huddersfield.

Described by Judge Geoffrey Marson QC as 'one of the leaders' of the grooming gang, Amere Singh Dhaliwal was convicted of 54 offences against 11 girls.

He sexually abused some of the girls countless times and sometimes he passed them on to other men in the grooming gang.

Manipulative Dhaliwal would also video the other men abusing the girls and send it to others and on one occasion he took indecent photos of an infant.

Labelling him a prolific sex offender who was at the 'very heart' of the grooming gang, prosecutor Richard Wright QC said: "He targeted vulnerable girls, he showered them with attention and plied them with drink and drugs.

"Having manipulated and moulded them in that way, he used them for his own sexual pleasure and effectively pimped them out to other men at organised parties where sex with young girls was the order of the day."

But he refused to ever admit he was involved in the grooming scandal, instead claiming the girls were liars and had targeted him all because he called one of them fat.

How he controlled the girls

His abuse may have begun in 2004 with a 13 or 14-year-old girl - who is referred to as Girl A. But she believes Dhaliwal, who at the time was in his early twenties and was better known by his nickname Pretos, was already abusing other underage girls before she came along.

The mechanic, along with Zahid Hassan and another man, first approached her and her friends in Huddersfield bus station as they were on their way to school. She was 13 or 14 years old and the girls she was with were even younger than her. The men offered them cigarettes and told them to skip school to get drunk with them.

They didn't truant, but they exchanged numbers.

She said they kept phoning her and turning up outside her school. There was no getting away from them, she said.

Within weeks, she was being forced to engage in sexual acts with the men.

The first time Dhaliwal raped her orally was in the car park of the now-defunct Shaf's snooker club on Manchester Road and she was scared of him. He made her feel ashamed of herself, she said.

And she said that after the first time he raped her vaginally, which happened in a house, he told everyone including a girl who claimed to be his girlfriend that she had raped him . She also said that after ejaculating inside her, he forced her to get the morning after pill and he got his girlfriend and her friends to beat her up, leaving her with black eyes and a broken nose.

He went on to rape her countless times, including in the toilets of the snooker club and at Blackmoorfoot Reservoir, before starting to pass her around his friends.

During 'games' of truth or dare, the child rapist dared Zahid Hassan and Mohammed Kammer to have sex with her. He would also dare her to perform oral sex on him and, during one such game, he put the end of a bottle in her vagina.

On one occasion at the snooker club, he told Girl A to have sex with Nasarat Hussain, who at the time was a teenager a few years older than her. She was wearing her school uniform and Hussain took her down to the canal near the snooker club. He threatened that if she didnt have sex with him he would tell Dhaliwal on her and so, out of fear of reprisals, she complied.

Girl A introduced him to Girl B, who was used mainly for oral sex. The pattern was similar he used her, then he passed her around.

After getting Girl B to perform oral sex on him at the snooker club, Dhaliwal would drive her to places such as Scammonden Dam where another man was waiting and a takeaway in Normanton where Mohammed Rizwan Aslam was waiting.

And through Girl A, at least five further girls were brought into the ring - girls B, D, H, I, M and O. Girls I and H in turn introduced Girl J to Dhaliwal and his friends.

Meanwhile, Dhaliwal's friend and cannabis dealer, Irfan Ahmed, targeted Girl C, who in turn brought Girl G into the ring and the Hassan brothers brought in girls F and N.

And Dhaliwal also set his sights on a girl who was living in a childrens home in Huddersfield Girl K.

The denial and the trial

He faced the highest amount of charges of all the group a whopping 57, of which he was convicted of all but three. He was found guilty of: 21 counts of rape, three of which were of a child under 13; 13 counts of trafficking for sexual exploitation; five counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity; three counts of sexual assault; three counts of supplying a controlled drug of Class A; three counts of possessing an indecent image of a child; two counts of administering a substance with intent; one count of inciting child prostitution; one count of assault by penetration and; one count of racially aggravated assault.

The now-married dad, who converted to Sikhism in 2013, denied every charge and even knowing some of his victims.

He claimed that the only time he took Girl A up to the moors was to 'admire the scenery'.

And he also claimed that she 'fabricated' the case because she used to mouth off at him when she saw him in the street and he used to call her fat in return so she had 'a grudge or whatever' against him ever since.

During cross-examination, which took place after his 11 victims had bravely stood up in the witness box and gave detailed evidence about him, he continued to deny being sexually involved with them.

As he stood in the witness box, Mr Wright said to him sarcastically: "The worst thing you've ever done is describe her as being fat and, over a decade later, she has organised over 10 girls to come forward and fabricate over 70 allegations of terrible sexual offending. . .to have her revenge because you called her fat 12 years ago?"

After pointing out that his co-defendants would have to be in on the 'conspiracy' because they had admitted some details about his offending, Mr Wright asked: "Mr Dhaliwal, there is no conspiracy against you, is there? These girls have came here to tell the truth."

He replied: "I would suggest they are lying."

Mr Wright told him:

There is one liar here and that is Amere Singh Dhaliwal.

He interrupted: "No, that is not the truth."

Mr Wright continued: "And you have not got the guts to face up to what you did to them years ago."

But he maintained: "I have never sexually abused these girls."

Locked up for life

The probation service's report stated that he exerted 'power and control over young girls' and described him as 'manipulative' and 'predatory'.

The judge heard how, even after the 100-day trial in which a jury convicted him, Dhaliwal was still refusing to take responsibility for his actions.

Based on that and the amount of his offending, he was able to jail him for life with a minimum of 17 years and 312 days.

Sentencing, the judge told him: "Your treatment of these girls was inhuman, you treated them as commodities to be passed around for your own sexual gratification and the gratification of others.

"The extent and gravity of your offending far exceeds anything which I have previously encountered."

The now-35-year-old, who initially gave a bail address of Holly Road, Thornton Lodge, but later gave the court an address of Everard Street, Crosland Moor, is serving his sentence in HMP Doncaster in South Yorkshire. He will not be eligible to apply for release from prison until April 14, 2036 when he will be 53 years old. Even if he is released then, he will remain on licence for the remainder of his life.

A former senior teacher at a Dorset secondary school has been jailed for child sex offences.

Michael Herrity, 44, of Top Lane, Ringwood, Hampshire, was found guilty of five counts of indecent assault and three of indecency with a child.

The offences dated back to the early 2000s. He went on to become associate head teacher at Twynham School in Christchurch.

He was jailed for six years following a trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

In a statement, Twynham School said the offences took place before Herrity was employed by the school and he had not worked there since the allegations came to light in May 2016.

"All aspects of Mr Herrity's employment at Twynham School met full compliance with statutory safeguarding and recruitment processes," it said.

A RAPIST who attacked a woman in a house has been jailed.

Preston Crown Court heard Adrian Love, 54, raped the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, at a property in Rossendale in June 2017.

Love had always denied any wrongdoing but was unanimously found guilty by a jury following a two week trial.

Judge James Medland QC sentenced Love, of Hightown, Whitewell Bottom, to six and a half years in prison.

Love was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and pay a £170 surcharge to fund victim services.

Judge Medland imposed an indefinite restraining order banning Love from contacting his victim directly or indirectly.

A police spokesman said: "We take investigations into rape and sexual assault very seriously.

A PAEDOPHILE who fantasised about kidnapping Madeleine McCann has walked free after being caught with child abuse images.

Barry Shaw, 38, argued he would lose his spot at university if he was put behind bars.

It comes after Shaw was jailed in 2012 after investigators searching his laptop uncovered the largest collection of indecent images from the most extreme category ever.

The court heard he had fantasised about kidnapping toddler Madeleine McCann and downloaded thousands of horrific child sex abuse images, showing disturbing acts including between adults and children as well as bestiality and sadomasochism.

He has now moved to Southampton and was caught by officers again who discovered he downloaded an image of a teenage girl dressed in stockings and underwear before moving it to the recycle bin of his laptop.

Shaw was convicted at Southampton Crown Court after admitting one count of making an indecent photograph of a child.

Shaw has previously been jailed after fantasising about kidnapping missing toddler Madeleine McCann.

Eve Shelley, defending, said Shaw had "deep-rooted issues" with the images and was estranged from his family.

She said: "He was failing in his studies, that led him to have an increase in his low mood and an increase in his stress.

"The way he dealt with that was to access pornography."

Rose Burns, prosecuting, said Shaw was arrested after a search at his property in July last year. At the time he was already serving a 24-month community order for breaching a sexual harm prevention order.

Judge Gary Burrell QC gave Shaw a 24-month community order and ordered him to carry out 15 days of rehabilitation requirements.

He said Shaw was "addicted to porn and has been for a while".

He added: "The worrying thing is it seems you have a sexual interest in children. That is worrying for the community and those who are close to you.

"Here you are again, with a picture of a little girl dressed up in a bikini or underwear that is of course illegal.

"If you continue to behave like that or access those images you are going to destroy yourself."

The University of Southampton, which is part of the Russell Group, refused to comment after the case and also refused to confirm what Shaw studies.
