A pervert who showed a '14-year-old girl' his naked body was jailed after breaching the terms of the Sex Offenders Register.

Richard Murray, 53, was spared jail in January 2021 after being snared by multiple paedophile hunter groups. Murray thought he had been sending obscene messages to a child and showed his naked body to a 14-year-old girl, who was actually an adult, posing as the girl on Facebook.

At Liverpool Crown Court in January 2021, it was explained that Sharon Robson was posing as a 14-year-old girl called Jade Charles and "engaged in Facebook chats with the defendant". Murray had been charged with three counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

Murray, learning the 'girl's' age, said: "Well you won't like what I like doing". When sent pictures of "Jade", Murray said she was a "good looking girl" but told her not to look at him as he was "getting into the bath and had a big thing".

Prosecuting barrister Trevor Parry-Jones said that Murray: Told her to be careful on these sites as people do naughty things." When asked what he meant Murray told the 'girl' "s***ing". Murray had also requested photos of the child and "told her he was naked and in the bath".

Murray video-called the 'girl' later that month and the four minute video began with Murray topless before he moved the camera to his naked genitals.

He was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and forced to complete 20 Rehabilitation Activity Requirements. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and handed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years.

After signing the Sex Offenders Register, Murray was forced to register any change of address to police within three days. On Friday (September 2), Liverpool Crown Court heard that he had moved into a home on Mossy Bank Road in Wallasey on November 27, 2021.

On April 30, 2022, Murray told police the property on Mossy Bank Road was his address. The court heard officers then made numerous attempts to visit the property in order to make checks on Murray.

Police attended the home four times across April and May 2022, as well as visiting an address on Bisley Street in Wallasey - where Murray was living when he was sentenced. However, they did not see him on any of those visits.

On one trip, the police saw an estate agent's sign reading "under offer" as they checked the home on Mossy Bank Road. On their visit on May 7, officers were met at the door by a female who said she had bought the property two weeks previously.

Officers found that Murray had moved to an address on Arbour Close in Northwich, Cheshire. The court heard he had signed a tenancy agreement for the property in February 2022.

Murray was arrested and stood trial in Chester Magistrates' Court. Asked why he had not informed the police of the change in circumstance, Murray said he had not actually moved address, but was in the process of doing so. However, he was convicted by magistrates of failing to notify police of his change of address.

Mitigating at Friday's sentencing, defending barrister Mark le Brocq said that Murray, who used to work as a self-employed plumber, was struggling with life in the community after his sentence. Mr le Brocq said Murray "lives in fear, looking over his shoulder all the time".

The barrister added that his client had his "windows smashed" at his home in Wallasey and was now "living in fear" in Northwich, where a "neighbour had been informing people in the locality of the sex offender living next door".

Sentencing, Judge David Potter told Murray: "This was a deliberate failure on your part to notify police" The judge did not believe that Murray would have informed police of his new address in Northwich if they had not found it themselves.

As a result, he said he had no choice but to activate Murray's previously suspended sentence in full. He was jailed for 12 months in total - the six months from the previously suspended sentence and six more for failing to notify police of his address change.

The two-month string of lewd Facebook and WhatsApp messages saw the pervert ensnared in an online sting

A paedophile digger thief sent a picture of his naked bum to a 13-year-old girl.

Matthew Tipping, from Ellesmere Port, sent a string of lewd messages to the teenager over the course of nearly two months. But, unbeknown to him, he was actually being ensnared in a paedophile hunter sting.

Liverpool Crown Court heard yesterday that the 36-year-old sent a friend request to the decoy account on Facebook on December 8 last year. Tipping messaged the profile and was immediately informed of her supposed age, initially apologising and stating he "didn't realise".

But he "persisted with the conversation", despite also being told she was autistic and a carer for her nine-year-old sister. The pervert "told her she was pretty" and said he "bet she had lots of males chatting her up".

When the teen told Tipping she had a cold he instructed her to "rub Vicks into her chest", which he asked for a picture of. He then suggested that they should have a video call together.

Tipping, of Harrisons Terrace in Little Sutton, stated that he "wished she was older" and "asked if it was bad". He then sent a photograph of himself lying in bed without a top on and told her he "wished he had her as his girlfriend".

The dad asked her if she "would be ok with an older guy" and said they "wouldn't be able to take it public", but she could "have him all to herself". The chats continued on WhatsApp, where Tipping asked for a picture of the girl in the bath and in her underwear.

When she refused, he told her "you don't have to be shy with me" and said "girls younger than you have sex" - adding that she "should trust him". He also stated that the "age thing didn't matter as long as they trusted each other".

Tipping then sent a photo of himself in his underwear and another "looking down his back" with his bare bottom exposed. He made requests for pictures of the girl in her underwear and "of her body".

After being denied, he sent a message on January 9 saying he "expects more in a relationship". The conversations continued until January 27, and the messages were passed over to the police in mid-February.

Under interview, Tipping stated that "it was embarrassing" and claimed he knew that he had been talking with a decoy. His defence counsel told the court that he had been "very down and depressed" following his release from prison on licence, leading to him engaging in the sickening chats.

He had previously been jailed for a year in July 2021 after what was described as a "brazen, professional, broad daylight theft" of two diggers worth 42,000. The Volvo 360 excavator and Takeuchi microdigger were taken from Kinmel Bay and Rhyl in North Wales respectively.

Tipping, then of Connah's Quay in Flintshire, was imprisoned alongside 27-year-old John Lee, of Suez Street in Newton-le-Willows. The latter defendant was handed a four-month stretch, to be activated in the event that a two-month curfew was breached.

While Tipping has no previous sexual matters on his record, he has 20 convictions for 39 offences - the majority being for theft, driving matters and failing to comply with court orders. It was heard on Thursday afternoon that he "effectively realised he had to stop and that he was doing wrong".

The "remorseful" sex offender admitted attempting sexual communications with a child during an earlier hearing. He was handed a 12-month imprisonment suspended for two years.

Sentencing, Judge Denis Watson QC said: "You are to be sentenced for your communications with someone who you thought to be a 13-year-old girl. In fact that was an adult, but you didn't know that.

"All your messages were, in your mind, intended to be received and acted on by a 13-year-old. The evidence makes plain you were in regular, persistent contact with an individual you believed was 13.

"The context was you pursuing your sexual interest in her. Effectively, you were flattering her and trying to normalise sexual conduct for those of her age.

"The reality is you would serve about six months, but you would not have any positive opportunity to deal with whatever was going on in your head. My concern is that this interest is rather more deep rooted than you would have me accept.

"You would like me to believe it was a bit of a blip when you were released from custody. You were feeling a bit low and down, and this is something that can just be moved past.

"I'm not at all sure it is. I've decided you are someone with a reasonable prospect of rehabilitation."

Tipping told the judge he would "do anything" to avoid prison when asked if he would comply with any community order imposed. Judge Watson replied that he had come "perilously close", adding: "This is your one chance."

He was also handed a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement, a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and a notification requirement lasting the same period. Tipping was told to pay a victim surcharge.

A paedophile was caught with hundreds of sick images of child abuse and bestiality on his phones as well as a story depicting a "sexual fantasy" about a drunken teenager.

Jonathon Byrne, 34, was arrested at home on January 9 last year when officers arrived with a search warrant. Jamie Baxter, prosecuting at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, said the unit from Cheshire Polices online child abuse investigation team seized two Samsung phones and took Byrne, of Widnes, into custody for questioning.

Byrne confirmed his personal details but denied having seen any indecent image of a child or having any sexual interest in children. He claimed he didnt believe any such matter would be found on his devices.

Mr Baxter told the court: How wrong he was.

After initially being released under investigation, Byrne was interviewed again on November 5, when he gave no comment answers to detectives after a large number of abuse images were found on his phones.

In total, there were 283 images and six videos in Category A - the most serious type, 270 still and six moving images in Category B, 186 images and 14 videos in Category C, plus 24 still images and 40 videos of extreme pornography - namely of bestiality.

Listing aggravating case features to the court, Mr Baxter said the abuse images showed very young children enduring gross sexual acts, and in discernible pain or distress.

The sexual fantasy story, stored in the notes section of one of his phones, had a creation date of March 3, 2019, and depicted an incident from the storytellers viewpoint in which they were engaging in penetrative sexual activity with - or indeed raping - a drunken teenage girl under 16 years of age.

Mr Baxter said no offence arose as a result of the depraved tale and there was no suggestion it was based on real abuse, but would be relevant when considering a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Byrne pleaded guilty at the first opportunity to one count of possessing indecent images of children, three of making child abuse images, and one count of possessing extreme pornography. The word making refers to the act of obtaining or downloading such material.

Matthew Howarth, appearing for the defence, urged the court to consider Byrnes lack of any previous convictions, a pre-sentence report classing him as a low risk, a reference from Byrnes father, and a note from Byrne himself, who had also quit using alcohol and cocaine since his arrest.

He argued any prison sentence could be suspended so Byrne could undertake rehabilitation that would not be available behind bars.

Mr Howarth said that since police put the phone evidence to his client, Byrne had been utterly contrite and remorseful, which he said was reflected by his guilty pleas.

He said unpaid work and a curfew could be imposed as part of any punishment in addition to rehabilitation, which Byrne had already sought privately but couldnt afford.

Recorder Mark Ainsworth said the volume and nature of the images were too serious for a suspended sentence as he jailed Byrne for 16 months to be served immediately.

He said some of the abuse victims featured in the sick haul were as young as between five and seven years of age and in pain.

During his sentencing remarks, Recorder Ainsworth said: The important point to remember in these cases is: behind every image is a child being sexually abused.

Behind every image is a victim of sexual abuse, and here we are concerned with hundreds of images, and one has to assume if there was not a market for these images from people like you that much or all of this abuse would not take place.

Thats why the courts take such a serious view of these offences.

He added: It seems to me the nature of the images and the number of the images in these offences are so serious that only a period of immediate imprisonment can be justified.

The judge also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to last 10 years, alongside placing Byrne on the sex offenders register for the same length of time.

A 54-year-old woman exposed her breasts and pleasured herself as she sat on a bench in broad daylight outside a supermarket, a court heard.

Beverley Dean was spotted performing the sex act on herself by two office workers. The eyewitnesses saw her touch her genitals under her skirt as she sat on the river bank near the Waitrose store in Northwich in Cheshire.

She appeared to be filming herself, but police found no footage on her mobile phone. Dean then stood up from the bench and exposed her breasts through her unbuttoned blouse, the court was told.

When police were called to the scene, officers discovered sex toys and lubricant in her handbag. Dean is now facing a jail term after admitting a charge of outraging public decency.

She wept at Chester Magistrates' Court as she was told the charge carries a maximum sentence of six months in prison. The court heard how the incident happened at around 3.30pm on February 25 this year.

Dean had sat down on a bench overlooking the River Dane. She was seen by two women from CRS Consultants which has an office on the other side of the river.

Miss Shannen Carey, prosecuting, told the court: "The defendant is seen to put her fingers in her mouth and then proceed to put them between her legs. She appeared to be masturbating.

"She had her mobile phone in her right hand and appeared to be filming herself or taking photos of herself performing the act. She stopped to smoke a cigarette and then continued to suck on her fingers and placed them between her legs.

"After she did this she stood up from the bench and both breasts were exposed. Her blouse was unbuttoned and her coat was hanging off her shoulders.

"Officers were called and the defendant was arrested. Her property was searched and an assortment of sex toys and lubricants were found in the defendants bag."

Miss Carey said there were no sentencing guidelines for that offence in particular, but said that the Crown Prosecution Service suggested looking at the guidelines for exposure as a reference point.

It is aggravated that it was in a public place and there was the risk of the presence of children," the prosecutor said.

Dean, from Rudheath in Northwich, had no previous convictions before this offence. Defence solicitor Shane ONeill, said: "This is a matter that will need the intervention of the probation service. There is a guilty plea at the earliest opportunity and there are no previous convictions.

"We need to know what is happening within her life as she is getting to an age and committing this offence. There was some suggestion that she was filming herself.

"But when the police took her phone there was nothing on it. The officer looked at it and said there was nothing recorded on it.

"There was no room for any children to go past. We are not disputing that children may have been in the area but what she said is that there weren't any children in the area. She accepts responsibility for what she did."

The magistrates adjourned the hearing for probation reports to be prepared. Chairman James Fawson said: "The bench are going to need to know more about you and in order for that to happen the probation service will prepare a report.

"Between now and your next court appearance, the things that need to happen are that you stay in regular contact with your legal representative and fully cooperate with the probation service. That way, the next bench can sentence you fairly and with confidence."

Dean was granted unconditional bail until the sentencing hearing on August 12.

A convicted sex offender grabbed a 17-year-old from behind and slashed his throat on a bus in a brutal attack.

The boy's horrified 16-year-old girlfriend tried to stop Hamid Akhonzada as he 'held his head back and drew a bladed article described as a steak knife across the throat', a court heard. Akhonzada was described as having a 'major psychotic disorder' and said he 'heard the voices in his head telling him to stab somebody'.

The 26-year-old launched the horrific attack on a bus in Runcorn on May 8 last year, the Liverpool Echo reports. Dafydd Roberts, prosecuting at Chester Crown Court on Friday (July 8), said Akhonzada was sitting behind the young couple when he grabbed the teenager by the hair and pulled out the weapon.

The boy tried to fight back as Akhonzada attacked him. The defendant punched him three or four times as they struggled in the baggage hold before fleeing when the bus stopped.

Police officers arrived to find the boy holding a face mask to his neck as it soaked up the blood. Mr Roberts said the teenager received glue and butterfly stitches to treat six or seven 'scratches' to his neck, described as 'cuts' by Judge Michael Leeming.

He had also suffered a defence wound to his little finger, cuts to the eye area, sore ribs and a grazed knee. The 16-year-old girl was also slightly injured.

Afghan refugee Akhonzada was arrested on May 14 in Croydon, London, where he had previously lived until being moved by officials to Runcorn. Three days later, he beat a prison guard unconscious at HMP Altcourse.

Akhonzada called for attention from the prison guard, Michael Bennett, drawing him to his cell before punching him. Akhonzada pursued him around the pool tables in the open part of the wing, punching him again and knocking him out cold for two minutes.

CCTV shown to the court showed part of the attack and the inmate then retreat to his cell upon the arrival of a female prison officer who locked him inside. Mr Bennett described his ordeal as an 'explosion of blood' followed by 'everything being a blur'.

The prison officer suffered 'bumps and bruises' in the assault, which had the lasting effect of exacerbating his existing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The earlier attack on the bus also had a lasting impact on the 17-year-old, who said he suffered sleeplessness, 'flashbacks and night terrors', nervousness going out, aversion to using buses, and reduced socialising.

After being confirmed as fit to plead, Akhonzada admitted Section 18 wounding with intent, having a bladed article in public, and assaulting an emergency worker. Mr Roberts said Akhonzada had 10 previous convictions for 23 offences including two for common assault and assaulting a constable in 2016, assault occasioning actual bodily harm in 2017, and common assault and sexual assault in 2018 leading to a prison sentence.

Judge Leeming read details of a pre-sentence report in which Akhonzada had told a probation officer that 'he left the house with a knife because he wanted to stab somebody' but also that 'it was only on the bus that he heard the voices in his head telling him to stab somebody'.

Kevin Slack, defending, said Akhonzada was diagnosed with schizophrenia after he arrived in the UK having fled Afghanistan aged 16 after a series of traumas. These included his father being murdered, witnessing someone being killed as a child, and the death of his brother in police custody after his brother was detained by a 'corrupt' police chief for having a relationship with his daughter.

The court heard this led the rogue officer to arrest Akhonzada on 'trumped up terrorism charges' before locking him up and beating him for two months, before demanding that Akhonzada marry his daughter who had been left 'physically and mentally impaired' due to a punishment beating from her father for having extra-marital sex.

Mr Slack said an immigration tribunal found 'credible evidence' the police chief had violently assaulted his own daughter. After arriving in Croydon, Akhonzada was soon sectioned under the Mental Health Act and placed on medication with mental health support.

Following his violent turn in 2016-17 the Home Office launched efforts to deport him, also drawing on his later offences in a bid to eject him from the country, but an immigration tribunal granted him leave to remain because he wouldnt receive the necessary mental health services in his homeland and would face 'grave danger'.

An official decision was taken to move Akhonzada to Runcorn, but medical care for his 'major psychotic disorder' did not continue with the move north. Mr Slack said: The defendant had been relocated to the Runcorn area.

Im instructed that was as part of an official relocation rather than any desire or choice of the defendant himself, but what is clear is that following the relocation the defendant was not picked up by mental health services in this area. Mr Slack said nor was there any recommendation for continued medication when he was released from a 2019 prison sentence, which he described as a 'mistake' that wont be 'made again'.

An updated psychiatric report said he was now responding well to medication, and Mr Slack said Akhonzada had said he didnt think the boy he slashed on the bus was real, adding that having seen the videos he wished to apologise to him and to the prison officer. Judge Leeming acknowledged the seriousness of his condition but countered that convicted sex offender Akhonzada had sought to 'self-medicate' with cannabis and spice instead of seeking help.

He said the knifeman had a 'compulsion' for violence as he jailed him for four years, with four years on extended licence due to dangerousness. Akhonzada, , of Liskeard Close, Brookvale, Runcorn, will have to serve 32 months behind bars before being considered for parole.

The judge said the knife-wielding attacker had been staring at his victim and friend at the Palacefields bus stop before boarding and the girl had smiled at him 'to break the ice' but this did not deter him, and the attack took place a couple of minutes later during the journey.

During his sentencing remarks, Judge Leeming noted Akhonzadas traumatic childhood and mental illness - which included feeling 'special' and 'close to God', but recounted how Akhonzada grabbed his teenage victims hair, pulled his head back and started 'hacking at his neck and throat with the knife' in keeping with a longer term pattern of violence.

He said: Your record for violence and sexual assault is a statutory aggravating factor. Theres an established pattern here of violent and aggressive behaviour. The timing and location in the attacks are both relevant, in the first instance on public transport in the presence of other members of the public.

The footage clearly shows how shocked the other passengers were on the bus, and it took place in a confined space at the back of the bus. Recalling the assault on the prison officer he said: He was unconscious for about two minutes.

Its important that you should understand that Michael Bennett was simply doing his job, an already difficult job made more difficult by your behaviour. He was simply responding to your call to make sure your needs were attended to. He sustained bumps and bruises to his face and cuts to the inside of his mouth.

Akhonzada, who was assisted by a Farsi interpreter for the hearing, must also pay a statutory surcharge.

A 27-YEAR-OLD man from Cheshire West has been sent to prison for more than eight months after not telling police he was staying at a house with a child.

Stephen Bonnett, of Mayfield Road, Northwich, appeared in Chester Magistrates Court on June 16 after pleading guilty to failing to comply with notification requirements.

Between May 6 and 10, 2022, Bonnett failed to notify police within three days of staying in a household for at least 12 hours where a child lives.

He was also charged with the same offence between May 11 and 14.

Although magistrates took Bonnetts guilty plea into account, he was handed a custodial sentence because of his previous convictions of a similar nature.

Bonnett was sentenced to 36 weeks in prison.

He must pay court costs of 85 and a 156 surcharge.

A paedophile left his young victim suffering night terrors of a man at the end of her bed after she was sexually assaulted twice.

Stephen Jennings, 39, of The Glen, Runcorn, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Friday for sentence after three guilty pleas to possessing indecent images and conviction at trial over the two assaults.

Philip Clemo, prosecuting, said Jennings initially groped his victim over clothes.

When she asked him to stop, he refused and assaulted her again. The abuse came to light when the childs mother heard her using inappropriate language, and she then said what had happened.

It was reported to the victims school. In voluntary interview with Cheshire Police, Jennings denied what took place and any sexual interest in children.

That lie was left in tatters when a search of his two phones revealed 10 Category A abuse images - the most serious type and including one of a girl of about 10 years of age in distress being raped, 10 Category B and 178 Category C.

The court heard that at trial an adult witness gave evidence that while having sex with Jennings, he had called her my good little 12-year-old girl and she told him dont say that.

An impact statement from his young victims mother said the little girl suffered psychological symptoms of abuse including night terrors worrying about a man being at the end of the bed.

Mr Clemo said features of the case showing higher levels of harm included the girls extreme youth and her vulnerability.

Jennings had no previous convictions and most recently lived with his parents on The Glen, Runcorn..

Gareth Bellis, defending, pleaded mitigation for the indecent image guilty pleas and urged the judge to consider the principle of totality when considering the overall sentence, with some aggravating features subsumed by others to avoid double counting.

He added a probation report assessed Jennings as a low risk of reoffending and was not suitable for the dangerousness provisions such as an extended sentence.

Mr Bellis said Jennings was hitherto a man of good character who had worked for 20 years.

Recorder Mark Ford sentenced Jennings to four years in prison, and placed him on a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and the sex offenders register, both for life or until further notice.

Sending Jennings down, Recorder Ford said: It was clear to me from her evidence that she didnt want you to touch her in this way and that her complaints to you didnt prevent you from continuing.

Despite the clarity with which (your victim) expressed herself, despite her young age, you maintained your denial of the conduct as was your right but the explanations you set out to provide rather unravelled during cross examination and the jury duly convicted you.

A MAN from Middlewich who sexually assaulted a disabled woman on a train has been hauled back to court after breaching requirements of the sex offenders register.

David Baden Kemp, of Manor Fields, failed to comply with notification requirements which make it necessary for him, by law, to sign the register.

The 60-year-old appeared in Crewe Magistrates Court on Tuesday, June 7, to be sentenced for the offence.

He was originally jailed for six months on September 7, 2016, after sexually assaulting a disabled woman on a train near Sandbach.

The Guardian previously reported how Kemp and his victim boarded the same train at Sandbach Station on June 12, 2015.

He then approached the victim in an empty carriage and asked her to move so he could sit next to her.

When she refused, he tried to engage her in conversation. Again, she refused.

Kemp then dropped to his knees in front of her and began running his hand up her leg.

She immediately reported the incident to the train guard, and Kemp was met and arrested by British Transport Police at the next station.

As well as the six-month prison sentence for this offence, Kemp was placed on the register for six years - expiring in September 2022.

Crewe Magistrates Court has now fined him 120 for failing to sign on.

He must also pay 85 in court costs and a 34 victim surcharge.

His guilty plea was taken into account.

A pervert who downloaded more than 9,000 images of children being abused was spared prison because he has Aspergers.

Kevin Cornes, 35, of Ascot Avenue, Runcorn, reportedly shook with anxiety in the dock for much of the hearing at Chester Crown Court on Monday as he appeared to learn his fate. Paedophile Cornes spoke to confirm he had pleaded guilty at magistrates court on May 6 to three counts of making indecent images of children and one of possessing an indecent image of a child, the latter charge covering all 9,177 images.

According to Simon Mintz, prosecuting, the making part of the charge refers to the act of downloading. He said police executed a warrant at Corness home on March 30 last year and seized digital devices.

Three devices were significant, showing Cornes had downloaded 1,259 Category A images - the worst type, 1,234 in Category B, and 6,694 Category C, totalling 9,177 images. File names suggested the ages of the children ranged between three and 13 years old.

Mr Mintz said the vast majority were still images and 103 were videos. They were believed to have been downloaded between August 2019 and March 6 last year.

Cornes answered no comment when police interviewed him in January 2022. Mr Mintz said Cornes had a similar conviction from 2015 for making indecent images when he received a three-year community order, which expired in 2018, and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to run until 2025.

He said the sentencing range for making Category A images was six months to three years.

Judge Steven Everett, Recorder of Chester, approved the revocation of the previous SHPO and replaced it with an updated order covering Corness use of the internet and police access to his devices.

Katy Laverty, defending, said Cornes was a young man who suffers autism and Aspergers, which she said explained part of the offending behaviour, which was of a repetitive nature.

She argued her client should be spared an immediate prison sentence.

Ms Laverty said: He doesnt seek to minimise his actions or place blame elsewhere.

Hes ashamed of what hes done and wants to change.

She said Cornes said he had been traumatised by personal experiences during his life and now felt he had opened up about these, and was fully motivated to comply with whatever probation asked of him because he understands this is a last opportunity.

Ms Laverty added Cornes had abstained from alcohol, had a number of difficulties including depression and anxiety and had attempted to take his own life.

He was also absolutely terrified of prison.

Recorder Everett said the court faced a difficult sentencing exercise.

He branded abuse images a terrible thing, but said a short prison sentence wouldnt mitigate any longer term risk posed to the public by Cornes.

With reference to a probation report and the guidelines for custodial and community sentences, he concluded there was a realistic prospect of rehabilitation.

He said he accepted Cornes had a very troubling history both by you and against you, and that to an extent due to his Asperger's, Cornes did not have the same kind of control as people who dont suffer it.

The judge sentenced Cornes to 18 months in prison, suspended for two years.

He also ordered the 35-year-old to complete up to 60 days of rehabilitation, the maximum available, including the Horizon sex offender programme, alongside a 10-year SHPO and 10 years on the sex offender register.

Recorder Everett said: The pre-sentence report shows a very troubling history, both by you and against you, but most particularly the fact that you suffer with Aspergers and Im well aware of what that means and Im well aware of the issues that causes.

Commenting on the charges, Recorder Everett said abuse victims in the images, if they lived, will have been scarred for life.

He said some perpetrators resort to killing their child victims to get rid of the evidence.

He said: These images are images of children who have been sexually abused, nothing more nothing less, God knows when or where, anywhere in the world, placed on the internet for people like you, sadly, to access them.

No-one can pretend that the people committed these terrible offences wont go on and commit them anyway because sadly people who do these things have distorted views of what a normal person should do.

But when people like you download (them), what you do is provide ready access for people to see this terrible abuse and unfortunately you give encouragement to people who do these things.

A serial sex offender who recorded himself sexually assaulting a toddler was caught out by police who recognised his tattoos.

Peter Neilds attacks on the little girl came to light after police found a phone hidden in the headrest of a chair in his Little Sutton home and matched his tattoos to those captured in the video. Officers had gone to arrest him on suspicion of downloading indecent images from the internet but were faced with vile footage of Neild himself carrying out abuse.

The 50-year-old, who told police "I need help, I cannot continue like this", was labelled a danger to children as a judge jailed him at Liverpool Crown Court earlier this week. At a hearing earlier in May, Frank Dillon, prosecuting, said police raided his home on January 27 this year because they believed he had downloaded indecent images of children from the internet.

Yet when they searched his home and found the phone hidden in the headrest they discovered horrific images of Neild carrying out abuse himself. Mr Dillon said: His device was reviewed and two video clips were identified showing a male offender committing a contact sexual offence with a small toddler. All that could be seen of the offender was his hand and wrist but there were tattoos visible that were identical to those of the defendant.

Officers have since been able to identify the child and she and her family are being supported by social services. Neild was also sentenced for an earlier set of offences committed when he was living in Southport.

In 2018, Neild messaged a member of UK Justice, a paedophile vigilante group, who was posing as a young girl online. Neild messaged the account numerous times, becoming increasingly sexual and aggressive in the way he spoke to her, asking her to send him pictures of herself masturbating.

Describing the messages sent by Neild, Judge Gary Woodhall said: They are graphic, they are aggressive and they are bullying. Eventually, Neild invited the girl to Southport, where he was living at the time, where he said he would meet her off the train.

Rebecca Smith, defending, said Neild, who has previously received jail terms for sexual offences including rape, unlawful sexual contact with a child and sexual assault of a child, realised he had committed yet more extremely disturbing sexual offences. She said: In his own words, the ones he spoke to the officer during his interview, I need to get help, I cannot continue like this. He knows this is criminal behaviour and it will not be tolerated.

Sentencing him on Monday, Judge Gary Woodhall judged Neild to be a dangerous offender and handed him an extended sentence. Neild, of Chester Road, Little Sutton, was jailed for 10 years and 10 months, with a further five years on extended licence.

A MAN from Alderley Edge described as 'a dangerous predator' has been found guilty of rape following a trial at Chester Crown Court.

Daniel Exley, of Beech Close, was jailed for seven-and-a-half years by Recorder Simon Killeen on Friday, May 6.

The 37-year-old had been found guilty of two counts the previous day.

He had taken advantage of a 26-year-old woman who, at the time of the offences, was described as being in a state of vulnerability.

However, rather than admit to his crimes, Exley denied assaulting the woman and raping her.

The victim has been praised by the police officer who led the investigation for her courage in providing evidence that led to Exley's downfall.

As well as being handed a 90-month prison sentence, Exley must also sign the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.

The horrific incidents happened between June 26 and 29, 2020.

The court also imposed an indefinite restraining order, barring Exley from contacting the woman in any way whatsoever.

Detective constable Catherine Hudson, who led the investigation, said: "Exley is a dangerous predator who took advantage of the woman at a time of vulnerability.

"The fact that he made his victim endure a trial and recount what he did to her was extremely distressing, but thanks to the bravery and courage that she has shown, Exley is now behind bars.

"The sentence handed to him reflects the severity of his crimes and I hope that this conviction sends a clear message that Cheshire Police takes all reports of sexual offences extremely seriously and will do all that we can to bring offenders to justice."

A paedophile from Runcorn who took pictures of himself raping a baby received a life sentence at Chester Crown Court yesterday for his "despicable" crimes. Gareth Andrew Davis, 43, of Ashridge Street, Runcorn, was caught after 512 child abuse images were discovered in a Google account in his name by the National Crime Agency (NCA).

The judge handed down the sentence described it as the most serious case he had dealt with in 40 years. Cheryl Mottram, prosecuting, told the court that NCA investigators suspected that Davis himself featured among the images, which lead to a warrant being executed at Davis' home. Following his arrest, it was established that some of the images showed Davis abusing a baby.

A photograph Davis had covertly taken of a naked child on a beach in North Wales was also found amongst the images. Some images had been shared with a male in the North East, and Davis had also discussed abuse in an online chat room.

Davis had also taken over 600 images of himself simulating sexual abuse with a child's baby doll, including some images of Davis with his hand round the neck simulating strangulation. These pictures were referred to as evidence of an additional "violent" risk posed by Davis.

In December, Davis pled guilty to to rape of a child under 13, sexual assault by penetration of a child under 13, and three counts of making indecent images: 36 of the most heinous type, Category A, 382 Category B and 94 Category C images. A further five counts were ordered to lie on file.

Judge Steven Everett, Recorder of Chester, compared the case with that of former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins, who was convicted of abuse in 2014. Watkins was handed a 35-year sentence, 29 years in prison plus six on extended licence.

Davis had no previous convictions, but Judge Everett said this could not be used as mitigation as he had used his supposed good character as means to have access to commit abuse. He said that Daviss troubling images of himself simulating strangulation meant alarm bells are truly ringing.

He told the court: They cause me real concern, not just of a sexual nature, a sexual nature is bad enough, but real concern that hes a double danger in that regard.

He opted not to impose a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) because of the long time Davis would inevitably serve in prison and on life licence. The judge told the court that psychiatric and probation reports found Davis had no mental illness as medically defined.

Instead, Davis had sought to minimise his vile acts and claimed Covid-19 lockdown isolation left feeling lonely and keen to comply with requests from other sick individuals. Judge Everett dismissed that as arrant nonsense", reminding the court that the crimes began prior to the pandemic.

Paul Becker, appearing on behalf of the defence, said he did not want the public gallery to think Im in any way condoning what occurred which are disgraceful and wicked offences to a very young baby, and said it would be ludicrous to argue Davis should not be classed as dangerous following his horrendous crimes.

He argued mitigation for Davis's early guilty pleas, lack of previous convictions, work history and feelings of humiliation, worthlessness and some remorse.

Mr Becker said the risk posed to the public by David would reduce while he was in custody.

He said: The defendant in custody has gained some education, maths and English.

He holds a trusted position as a mentor, hes working as a wing cleaner, hes gone on a mental health course to address emotions and anxiety.

The judge said a life sentence was wholly inevitable.

Judge Everett passed a life sentence, comprising a 27-year prison term with life licence - which enables Davis' recall to prison if he breaches his release conditions.

Sentencing Davis, he said: What youve pleaded guilty to is the most serious case Ive had to deal with concerning serious sexual offences.

Its the most serious case Ive dealt with in 40 years or more as a solicitor, barrister and then judge.

Ive not come across a case as serious as this. Its of the extremist seriousness. Its depraved, disgusting, despicable. I could go on.

Its difficult in fact to describe just how bad this case is and what a terrible effect its had on so many people.

He added: You got caught fortunately because Ive no doubt had you not been caught you would have continued to be an extreme danger to children, (a victim) and others.

You should understand that some of the matters you put forward to the psychiatrist and probation officer, I utterly reject.

Commenting on Daviss potential for violence, Judge Everett said: You harboured those terrible views towards young children and Im satisfied you harbour not just views of a sexual nature but of an extremely violent nature including murder.

Im quite satisfied you harbour those views.

These views came out in an awful way.

Richard Young was 'actively involved in supervising children' when he shouldn't have been

A chef with a dark secret befriended families and supervised their children despite being a convicted sex offender. Richard Young even failed to tell his new partner about his perverted past and moved to Wrexham without informing the police.

The 42-year-old of Stoneley Road in Crewe appeared before Judge Rhys Rowlands at Mold Crown Court after being handed a suspended sentence in July 2018 for committing an act of voyeurism against a young girl. Prosecutor, Anna Price said he had filmed the youngster showering with the use of a small camera hidden in a toothpaste packet.

A 10-year sexual harm prevention order was also imposed with conditions to inform police if he changed his address. It was only last October when concerns about his safefy were reported to officers that it came to light he was no longer living in Cheshire as they believed.

Instead, he had set up a new home in Wrexham. The court heard how he had signed a tenancy agreement on a property back in March 2020 and had been living with a new partner and her young son.

Ms Price said that his partner wasn't aware of his past, believing he was on a court order for domestic violence. The judge said he was a man "who has people believe what he wants them to".

His new home was on an estate which was described as being a "very close-knit community." People would socialise together at birthdays and barbeques and the local children would play.

The court heard young girls would play at Young's house despite him being banned from having unsupervised contact with any girl under the age of 16. Young even had a pool set up in the garden during the summer months and was "actively involved in supervising the children", Ms Price said.

None of the parents on the estate knew about Young's past and said they wouldn't have let their children "anywhere near him" if they had. One of the mums she was "furious" he felt able to integrate himself into their lives and felt "physically sick" having allowed him to have contact with her young daughter.

When Young was arrested at his workplace on November 2 last year, the police found that he had two mobile phones and a laptop that he hadn't declared to them.

Defending Young, Henry Hills, said his client was "under no illusion" that his offences will land him in custody. He said that, in his desire to "live a different life", Young got "too deep" and felt unable to tell anyone the truth the longer his lies went on.

However, Mr Hills wanted the court to acknowledge that no direct harm was caused to any young child. He said that his client has "learned a valuable lesson" and "will not repeat this behaviour".

Jailing Young for 14 months, judge Rowlands said prison was the only option as Young showed he was "quite prepared" to ignore court orders. He added: "Neither your partner at the time, nor the parents knew anything of your past.

"Your behaviour overall was a calculated and deliberate attempt to evade the terms of the court orders that imposed restrictions you weren't prepared to accept."

Joshua Corless, who has been caged for 13 years, offered to take the 19-year-old woman home before carrying out a sickening attack.

A predator who took an unwell woman home after a night out went on to subject her to a horrendous sexual assault.

Joshua Corless met up with the group on a night out in 2020 and then raped the defenceless 19-year-old in her own home. The brute offered to take his victim back to her house after she had become extremely unwell.

Corless, offered to walk with the victim, going to her home address before carrying out his despicable attack. The victim reported the incident to police and Corless was arrested and charged with rape.

He initially denied the charge, only changing his plea after the woman went through the trauma of giving evidence in court, according to Lancashire Live.

Corless, from Widnes, has now been jailed for 13 years for the rape and other offences committed in Cheshire.

He has also been made subject of notification requirements - informally known as the sex offenders register - for life.

Det Sgt Diane Higham, of Lancashire Police, said: Joshua Corless is a sexual predator who targeted his victim, exploiting her vulnerable nature for his own depraved ends.

He pursued her, playing on the fact she was unwell to commit a horrendous sex attack.

I must thank the victim for her bravery in reporting the offences and facing her abuser through the court process.

I also wish to place on record my thanks to the investigating officer Det Con Kieran Helps, who fully supported the victim throughout.

This investigation highlights our commitment to preventing and detecting offences of rape and serious sexual assault.
