Description
A man from Swansea has been jailed for the rape and assault of a woman, as well as stealing her dog.
47-year-old Dominik Szymanski, from Waun Wen, punched, kicked and dragged the victim when she refused to have sex with him at his flat on Matthew Street on September 2 2025.
He had met the victim for the first time earlier that day.
Szymanski was found guilty of rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and theft in May.
He has today been sentenced to 16 years in prison. He will be on the sex offenders register for life.
Detective Constable Claire Davies said:
“This was a prolonged and significant attack enacted by a truly despicable offender against a vulnerable woman who had little means of defending herself.
“This sentence sends a hugely positive message to victims of sexual abuse that they will be believed, their attackers will be identified, and they will be brought to justice.
“Despite the victim no longer being able to see that justice has been done for her in court, this result is of great relief to her family and friends; they have seen Dominik Szymanski being held accountable for his actions and duly punished.”
