Description

We have today, Tuesday 21 April, welcomed the sentencing of a Wirral man for child sex offences.

Colin Walker, 68, of Church Road in Tranmere was jailed for 10 years at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday.

The court was told Walker targeted the four complainants when they were aged as young as five and over the course of around 25 years.

He had previously admitted two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and causing a child to engage in sexual activity and was found guilty of a further 12 charges of sexual assault of a child under 13, four of assault by penetration and two of indecent assault by a jury.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison with a further 12 months on extended licence.  He was also handed a lifelong sexual harm prevention order and indefinite restraining orders and will be required to sign the sex offenders' register for life.

Detective Constable Graeme Beacall said:

“I would firstly like to pay tribute to Walker’s victims for their courage during the court proceedings.

“Walker was a predator who preyed on his victims over a number of years. It is right that as a result of his actions he will now spend a considerable period of time behind bars.

“I hope that knowing he has been brought to justice will allow them to move on with their lives.”
