Description
A man has been jailed for six years after he was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a girl.
Benjamin Patrick Brayson, 23, sexually abused the youngster when he was also a child, Soheil Khan, prosecuting, told York Crown Court.
Sean Smith, for Brayson, said the defendant was “described as immature emotionally and vulnerable”.
Mr Smith said: “It affects his thinking and motivated his offending behaviour. He is still immature.”
Brayson, of Hambleton Avenue, Thirsk, denied three charges of rape and two of sexual assault, all committed when Brayson was aged 16 or younger.
He was convicted by a jury earlier this year after the girl gave evidence against him.
He was jailed for six years and put on the sex offender register for life. He had no previous convictions.
