Description
A man has been jailed for six years for domestic-related offences in Southport.
Aiden Spillane, 44, of Cockleshell Square, Gosport, in Hampshire, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today (Thursday 21 August) after being found guilty of sexual assault and two counts of controlling or coercive behaviour.
Spillane lived in Southport during the time of his offences, which occurred between January 2016 and August 2023.
Detective Constable Rebecca Morgan-Richardson said:
“We are committed to tackling any form of abuse or violence against women or girls.
“I hope this sentence sends out a clear message that we will not tolerate any violence or abuse against women and will use our powers to bring people to justice.
“Domestic abuse can happen to anyone and we have specially trained officers who will listen to you and support you with sensitivity and compassion. I would also ask everyone to look out for your family members, friends or neighbours that may be suffering, by contacting us you could be helping someone who is too afraid to help themselves. Everything you tell us is taken extremely seriously and will be investigated thoroughly."
