A rapist who sexually assaulted two young girls has been put behind bars.
Christopher Powis raped one girl, aged under 13, in March 2023 after forcing himself upon her.
Powis called police the following day to ask whether he should hand himself in after the child’s mother discovered what had happened.
He was arrested and detectives launched an investigation.
A second victim revealed Powis, aged 65, had also sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.
The abuse of the second victim began in 2016 when she was at primary school. Powis told the girl not to say anything.
Powis, of Bulwell, was jailed for a total of 12-and-a-half years when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Monday (11 March).
He was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and was added to the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
