Paedophile sentenced for depraved abuse of two young girls.
A paedophile who systematically abused two young girls over a number of years has been jailed.
Self employed joiner John Furness, 34 of Chaddesden appeared at Derby Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to six out of 10 sexual offences against the girls including:
- Sexual activity with a child aged under 16 68 months imprisonment
- Sexual activity with a child aged under 16 68 months imprisonment
- Sexual activity with a child aged under 16 68 months imprisonment
- Sexual activity with a child aged under 16 27 months imprisonment
- Sexual activity with a child aged under 13 14 months imprisonment
- Sexual activity with a child aged under 13 14 months imprisonment
The court was told that Furness repeatedly sexually assaulted both girls over a number of years. He manipulated the girls to keep their silence.
However, one of the girls found the courage to tell a family member who in turn contacted the police.
Although the total sentence equaled 21 & half years, the sentences ran concurrently which meant an overall prison sentence of five & half years was given Furness was told that he must serve half of that sentence before being considered for release.
The judge told him that he would be on the sex offenders register indefinitely and a sexual harm prevention order until further notice was also imposed
