Jon Womack was found guilty by a majority verdict of raping a woman at Reading Crown Court in July
A 'serious sexual offender' from Southcote has been imprisoned for six years after being convicted of rape.
Jon Womack raped a woman in her 30s in Southcote on Wednesday, June 25 in 2014.
He was found guilty by a majority verdict of rape at Reading Crown Court on Friday, July 15, following a 10-day trial.
The 37-year-old, of Coronation Square, was sentenced at the same court on Friday, August 5.
Investigating officer detective Gary Tull said: "Since the incident in June 2014 the emotional impact on the victim has been substantial.
"The victim has had to relive the fear and indignity of the assault when recounting her experience in court."
He added: "This conviction will help her move on with her life and will protect the public from a serious sexual offender.
At the same trial Mr Womack was acquitted of another count of rape and one count of assaulting a female 13 years of age or over by penetration.
