Description
Kevin Manson, 36, of Sandveien, previously pleaded guilty to possessing the images at an address on the towns Robertson Crescent between 11 June and 30 October 2020.
Lerwick Sheriff Court previously heard that examination of a mobile phone and a memory card had uncovered four category C images, at the lower end of the classification scale.
The images related to children aged between eight and 13.
Defence agent Martin Morrow told Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday that a social work report prepared for sentencing was very favourable and that Manson was regarded as low risk.
The solicitor said his client was keen to put something back into the community.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank gave Manson 100 hours of unpaid work to complete alongside six months of supervision, as an alternative to custody.
He was placed on the sex offenders register for six months, while Sheriff Cruickshank granted a crown request to forfeit Mansons phone.
