His actions were called "nothing short of horrific"
A Sheffield paedophile has been jailed for his sick attacks on a child.
Kevin Yeardley pleaded guilty to six offences, including sexual activity with a child under 16, sexual assault of a child under 13 and causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
The 64-year-old's offences were described as "nothing short of horrific" by investigating officers from South Yorkshire Police.
His offences were committed between 1999 and 2005 to one victim.
Yeardley pleaded guilty and was sentenced to nine years in prison at Sheffield Crown Court on September 28.
He has also been placed on the sex offenders register.
Temporary Detective Sergeant Susi Taylor said: This mans actions were nothing short of horrific, he has rightly been served a substantial custodial sentence for his crimes.
The distress his actions have caused will no doubt have a long-term impact; those involved are being supported by specialist services to help them attempt to come to terms with what has happened.
It is absolutely vital that any victim of child sexual abuse feels they can speak out and seek help.
