A PERVERT has been jailed for a total of 15 years after encouraging a nine-year-old girl to perform a sex act.

Jack Bradshaw, of Hartwell Grove, Winsford, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, August 8, for sentencing on eight sexual offence charges involving children.

The 29-year-old had previously denied all but one of the offences, but changed his plea to guilty at a court hearing on April 30 earlier this year.

At the latest hearing, Chester Crown Court heard Bradshaw had initiated a sexual chat with a nine-year-old girl in 2021 and 'intentionally incited' her to engage in sex acts.

Two years later in 2023, Bradshaw began communicating with another girl, aged 12, and again the chat was sexual, referencing genitalia.

He also tried to get the girl to look at an image of a person engaging in sexual activity, for his own gratification.

Following his arrest, Bradshaw was charged with five counts of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, two counts of engaging in sexual communication with a child and one charge of inciting a child under 13 to look at an image of sexual activity.

Judge Steven Everett handed Bradshaw an initial sentence of 11 years, four months before extending it by three years.

A further eight-month jail term, to be added consecutively, was imposed for the charge of inciting a child to look at a sexual activity image.

Judge Everett also made a forfeiture and destruction order in respect to seized items, such as several mobile phones and a sex toy.

Bradshaw was placed on the sex offender register indefinitely and made the subject of a lifetime sexual harm prevention order.

This bans him from living in the same household as any child under 16, or entering and remaining in any household where a child under 16 is present, unless he has the express approval of Social Services.

He is also prohibited from having unsupervised contact or communication with any child under 16 unless, it is inadvertent and not reasonably avoidable in daily life, or he has consent of the child's parent or guardian, who has knowledge of his convictions.

As part of the order Bradshaw is not allowed to use any device capable of accessing the internet unless he notifies police, among other conditions.

A MAN has been locked up for more than nine years after admitting multiple serious sexual assaults against a child.

Christopher Holdsworth, 38, appeared at Bradford Crown Court by video link from HMP Leeds to hear a powerful statement read by his victim.

The statement said the victim’s life had been “ruined”.

After being confronted about his behaviour Holdsworth denied any wrongdoing and threatened to beat people up for “spitting out lies”.

Holdsworth was jailed for nine years and six months by His Honour Judge Colin Burn, put on the sex offender’s register for life, and made the subject of an indefinite restraining order banning contact with the victim.

A sexual harm prevention order will be set at a later date.

Sex pest Ross Madeley attacked a woman at a Covid lockdown party. The defendant was drunk and out of work when he carried out the attack.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard the victim had tried to scream. But no noise came out of her mouth, the ordeal eventually came to an end, and she called in Staffordshire Police the following day.

Now Madeley - who is 25 years old - has dodged jail and been placed on the Sex Offenders' Register for 10 years. He had admitted two charges of sexual assault as well as three other sexual offences connected to the same incident.

Brian Williams, mitigating, said: "He behaved in the most appalling way. He accepts that. He said to me what he did was unforgivable. He is remorseful. There is a huge difference in many people between a 21-year-old and a 25-year-old. In the intervening period he has matured considerably. He can look back at what happened four years ago with a sense of shame. It was during Covid and he was not working. It led him to drink more than he should have done."

Recorder Sunil Khanna sentenced Madeley, of Guy Street, Bucknall, to two years in prison, suspended for two years. The sentence includes a 35-day rehabilitation activity requirement and 150 hours unpaid work.

Recorder Khanna said: "These events occurred at the time of lockdown. You were feeling low and drank too much and described yourself as very drunk that evening. You behaved in an appalling way. I have no doubt she suffered psychological and personal harm as a consequence of your actions. There is a realistic prospect of rehabilitation."

A private maths tutor who sexually abused a vulnerable teenage boy has been jailed.

Holly Rouse-Sweeney, aged 37, tutored the boy online before organising to meet him at her former Nottinghamshire home.

She then had sexual contact with him on several occasions – despite being aware he was under the age of consent.

Police were called in May 2023 when the boy’s mother found inappropriate WhatsApp messages on his phone.

After Rouse-Sweeney was arrested, officers found several incriminating diary entries on her laptop in which she detailed the abuse and even referenced the boy’s true age.

She later pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with a boy, and four counts of causing a boy to engage in sexual activity.

Rouse-Sweeney, of Hebden Bridge, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (9 August) and was jailed for six years.

She was also added to the sex offenders’ register and made the subjection of a sexual harm prevention order which will tightly restrict her activities when she is released.

She was also handed a restraining order forbidding her from any future contact with her victim.

Rouse-Sweeney had claimed that her actions had been influenced by a long-standing mental health condition.

A “depraved” sex offender who urged a young girl to sexually abuse her two-month-old relative in exchange for £1,000 has been jailed.

Ben Murphy, 31, also approached two girls while they were playing on the swings at a Sittingbourne park and made indecent suggestions to them which led them to run away.

Murphy, of Raite Green, Sonora Fields, Sittingbourne, also fled the scene in February last year but was arrested two days later after police spotted him on CCTV.

He was charged with inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and remanded in custody before a court appearance.

Murphy had already been due to attend court to be sentenced for several sex offences involving children between January 2020 and March 2021.

During this earlier period, he had contacted five separate children who did not know him, on social media platforms. Murphy asked his victims to send images of themselves, some in their underwear and others carrying out sexual acts.

In one conversation he incited a child to abuse their two-month old relative, and offered to pay her £1,000.

‘Murphy is a depraved individual who poses a considerable risk to young children...’

Murphy also sent indecent images and videos of himself to the victims and asked for private calls so he could further engage in sexual abuse. On another occasion in February 2021, he approached a further child in a Sittingbourne park and asked them to carry out a sexual act. The child refused and fled the scene.

Murphy had been arrested for these earlier offences and had pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to six indictments of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and four of possessing indecent images of children. Some of the images were of the most serious category.

As he was awaiting sentencing and subject to strict court bail conditions, he went on to commit the most recent offence when he attended the park near Balas Drive and Sonora Way, Sttingbourne, in February.

He pleaded not guilty to this later offence but was convicted on Friday, following a trial, to inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

On Tuesday (August 13) he was sentenced to six years in prison, of which he will have to serve two thirds before he is eligible for parole.

On his release he will have to serve a further two years on licence. Murphy will also have to sign the sex offenders’ register and be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for an indefinite period.

Detective Constable Deniz Aslan said: “Murphy is a depraved individual who poses a considerable risk to young children in person or online. He made vile suggestions and sent indecent images to his vulnerable victims who were very distressed by his actions.”

PC Nadine Stanton, who investigated the most recent incident said: “Murphy showed himself incapable of following restrictions imposed by the court and a prison sentence was the only possible outcome.

“We would like to commend the young victims and their parents who have supported our investigation throughout and assisted us to bring this predator to justice. I hope the prison sentence imposed on Murphy will allow them to start to move on from their ordeal.”

A paedophile had still not told his boss about his conviction for indecent images more than two months after admitting the offences in court.

Simon Lancaster, from Cardiff, was told by a judge that "anybody with any sense whatsoever" would come clean before police turn up at his workplace.

The 44-year-old pleaded guilty on June 11 to two charges of possessing indecent photographs. None of the images were in category A — the most serious type — but one was in category B and three were in category C. Lancaster, of Hillrise in Pentwyn, committed the offences between January 2019 and November 2022.

Wearing a smart suit, Lancaster appeared at Cardiff Magistrates' Court to be sentenced on Wednesday. District Judge Stephen Harmes asked when he planned to tell his employer about his offences, to which Lancaster said: "When it's necessary." The judge replied: "Okay. Well it will be necessary when police knock on the door to put software in your computer in work because there's a sexual harm prevention order. So anybody with any sense whatsoever would get ahead of that and tell their employer. You don't want police turning up to your workplace and saying you're a sex offender. They could have clients there."

The court heard that Lancaster has no previous convictions and works in Treforest. After reading the probation service's pre-sentence report Judge Harmes said: "I agree with the recommendation of the report. I'm not going to send you to prison. I think there are things in the report I'm concerned about, so I'm going to impose 25 days of rehabilitation activity and a 24-month community order."

The judge added that it would be "absolutely right" for Lancaster to do unpaid work, but he feared this would disrupt his rehabilitation activity and his work, so he instead imposed a fine of £1,000. Lancaster was also ordered to pay a £114 victim services surcharge and £85 in prosecution costs at a rate of £200 per month. "You will have to have your employer put some software on any computer in work," said Judge Harmes. "I can't leave that door ajar a little bit because the temptation will be there.

"It seems you have been let off too easily. What you have done is very serious and what you cannot do now is do it again. You will not have this sort of leniency and be able to rebuild your life and continue in work twice. If it happens again you will be going to prison. Do you understand?" Lancaster nodded and said he did.

Lancaster's devices which were seized by police will be destroyed. He will be subject to police notification requirements for five years.

An NHS junior doctor who secretly took indecent photos of children he treated and a woman he had anaesthetised has been branded a 'predatory paedophile' by a judge who jailed him for 12 years today - and said he had caused 'irreparable damage' to the public's trust in the medical profession.

Edward Finn, now aged 36, looked emotionless as he was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court to a string of horrific child sex offences and crimes against adult females which he had previously pleaded guilty to.

When he was finally snared after an unsuspecting family member found disgusting images on his computer, he told police: 'I have tried to stop but I can't. I am not unwell but I cannot stop.'

In a text messages left to family as he made an attempt to take his own life, he wrote: 'It had been a pleasure but I never physically hurt anyone. I didn't mean for this to happen.'

Evil Finn, an anaesthetist, who had given an interview to the BBC as part of the junior doctors' strike and worked in overcrowded wards during the Covid pandemic, preyed on his unsuspecting victims over years in three East Midlands hospitals he worked in.

He also stored thousands of sexually explicit images of children on his computers and mobile phone in files named 'Hidden', prosecutor Victoria Rose told his sentencing hearing.

In some pictures of naked children they 'looked in obvious distress' and there were some if 'young girls being shackled to beds,' she said.

Almost all the images he stored were of girls, the youngest being a 12-month-old baby and the eldest aged 14.

When cops raided the defendant's home - which at the time he was sharing with his wife and young son - they found a garrote hidden in a wardrobe, along with a child-like and adult-like sex dolls.

Finn carried out his depravity whilst working at Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre, Royal Derby Hospital and Kingsmill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

He was arrested in November last year.

He admitted three counts of making indecent photographs of children, three counts of taking indecent images of children, two counts of voyeurism and one charge of sexual assault against a child aged under 13.

He pleaded not guilty to three further charges of theft, voyeurism and sexual assault - with those offences ordered by His Honour Judge Michael Auty KC to lie on the file.

In two of his most disturbing acts he took photos of a woman patient he had anaesthetised and a young child he was undergoing an operation.

As details were read in court, family members in the public gallery were heard loudly sobbing.

Passing sentence and in a scathing attack the judge told bearded and bespectacled Finn, who had been remanded in custody site his arrest: 'You have caused irreparable damage to the confidence and trust society has placed in the medical profession.

Judge Auty told disgraced doctor Finn: 'The author of your report states that you are a highly intelligent man who would have fully understood your crimes and the nature of your actions but you would have carried on offending had you not been caught.

'Web searches from as long ago as 2016 include worrying terms such as 'drunk teen sex' and 'amateur voyeur' and an indication of how depraved you had decline was the discovery of an indecent image of a girl at Royal Derby Hospital.'

He jailed Finn for eight years with an extended licence of four years, totalling 12 years for all seven offences.

He received individual sentences of between 10 months and eight years for the offences to run concurrently.

He will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.

After ordering Finn - behind the glass panelled dock - 'You may go down', the judge told members of public and media: 'I have no idea of the long term effects of Edward Finn's behaviour and how such wickedness can occur.'

He said in light of this case he hoped the authorities would 'give some thought about the vulnerability of patients' and called for that to be 'properly and appropriately protected.'

The father of one of Finn's young victims read his own victim impact statement to the court, saying: 'It is hard to fully understand the impact his crimes have had on my family.

'He was in a position of trust in his job working high in the medical profession. He was also working in the community as a football referee.'

The dad, looking visibly shaken, told how he had received regular counselling and that both he and his wife had 'struggled' and had both taken time off work but he had now returned to his job.

Prosecutor Miss Rose told the shocked courtroom how numerous Category A, B and C images of young girls were found stored in his electronic devices.

One disturbing picture showed a girl, aged six-eight being raised.

Police searching is home also uncovered a screenshot of a theatre patient, and internet searches included 'Year six netball and 'School beach trip.'

Tellingly, there was also a search for 'Derby doctor sexual assault.

On his iPhone there were 163 category A images, 225 Category B and 2,898 Category C.

There was further indecent pictures of a child in hospital and of a girl aged eight to 10 act Sainsbury's in Nottingham's Castle Marina, the court heard.

Doctor Finn's crimes came to light after naked images of children were found on his two iPads by a horrified family member on November 12 last year, the court heard.

Police were alerted and later found a text message from him which stated: 'It has been a pleasure. I never physically hurt anyone and I didn't mean this to happen.'

Officers located the defendant through his Find my iPhone app in his car at Trent Lane in East Bridgford, Nottinghamshire.

Prosecutor Miss Rose says: 'He was found slumped at the wheel of his vehicle by the River Trent with a medical device he had removed from hospital.

He was administering medication with 'the intention of ending his life.'

She said: 'He said he was going to throw himself in front of a train to end his life in a flash' and that there were 'images I am not proud of.

On his arrest he told police: 'I am not unwell. I have tried to stop but I can't, I cannot stop. There is no excuse.'

He said he suffered from PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) after seeing a 14-year-old girl who suffered severe burns die in hospital at the start of the Covid lockdown.

The defendant's estranged wife, who walked out on him following his arrest and is now ending her marriage, said her 'entire life had been ripped apart by the man I trusted most in the world.'

The sobbing woman, giving an impact statement at the sentencing hearing, wept: 'My life has been based on a lie. He deceived me and abused his position if trust and my heart has been irreparably broken.'

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, added: 'Our dreams as a family have been completely obliterated by his actions.

'The true depth of sadness is overwhelming.'

The devastated mother of another victim said in an impact statement read by the prosecutor that she could no longer 'trust doctors.'

She continued: 'I find it difficult to believe this can happen and I struggle with anxiety and it has put a stress on my relationship.

'I feel thoroughly let down by people we should trust the most,

The court hearing the defendant's lawyer Andrew Wesley that his client had no previous convictions.

He said: 'He is entirely sorry for his actions - that is an understatement.

'His immediately acted to self harm and attempted to take his own life because of the self disgust he feels about his behaviour and the effects it has had on everybody else.

'He is aware of his failings over a decade and he made attempts to seek help.

'He has engaged in therapy whilst in prison.'

Mr Wesley said that losing colleagues during the pandemic and seeing patients die had affected him.

He said on one night shift while the doctor was on duty in an overcrowded ward with 36 patients being treated in a ward for 11 he saw five people die.

The lawyer added: 'He has suffered a significant degree of trauma but he is responsible for his own tragedy, and his self disgust is proper.

'He has helped many people through difficult times in his career.'

He said the defendant's 'mother remains supportive' of him.

His Honour Judge Auty described him as a 'predatory paedophile.'

He ordered for him to be put on suicide watch in prison.

An intelligence officer at the National Crime Agency (NCA) who abused his access to the dark web to view hundreds of indecent images of children on his work computer has been jailed for 18 months. In June, Adam Taylor, of Waltham Abbey, Essex, admitted two counts of misconduct in a public office, three counts of making indecent photographs of children and one count of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

Sentencing the 40-year-old former NCA officer at Southwark Crown Court on Friday, Judge Justin Cole condemned Taylor for the “gross abuse of trust” placed in him. The judge told Taylor “Because of people like you there’s a market for this”, saying interest in “vile” indecent images has led to the “rape and torture of innocent children”.

Taylor, who never moved out of his family home, was a grade five intelligence officer in the NCA, equivalent to a police constable. He had access to the dark web, although he was not required by his work to view such images because his focus was on offences involving drugs and firearms, the court heard.

Taylor was arrested by officers from the NCA’s anti-corruption unit after it was established that an IP address linked to his home was accessing illegal content. The defendant admitted to committing misconduct by making indecent images of children on a work device between March 2019 and April 2022.

He had 221 category A images – the highest category of seriousness – as well as 203 extreme images and hundreds of category B and C images on both work and home electronic devices between May 2012 and the time of his arrest. Prosecutor Amy Nicholson said Taylor “sought to use his employment to gain further access to child sexual abuse material” in “deliberate intentional acts” that caused a “high level” of harm.

She went on: “The defendant’s conduct will have undermined public trust and confidence in the NCA and its investigation of this sort of offending. Furthermore, the viewing and downloading of indecent photographs of children perpetuates the production of further indecent photographs, which requires the serious sexual abuse of young children.”

Eddison Flint, defending, said Taylor was at a low risk of reoffending and was “not a man who needs to add to the prison population”. Taylor has also been given a sexual harm prevention order and was made to sign the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Catrin Attwell, specialist prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said: “Adam Taylor intentionally used his employment to obtain information to facilitate the viewing and downloading of indecent images of children and used NCA official devices for this purpose. The indecent images of children on the devices contained some of the most horrific sexual abuse of children.

“His actions were a gross breach of the trust placed in him as an officer and severely undermined the integrity and standards expected from those in his position. After collaborative work from the CPS and the NCA, Taylor was left with no option but to plead guilty and face the consequences of his actions.”

NCA director general Rob Jones said: “The NCA is committed to protecting children from sexual abuse, wherever in the world it is happening. We are determined to ensure there is no safe haven for perpetrators, including and especially within law enforcement.

“NCA officers from our anti-corruption unit carried out a meticulous, covert investigation which identified Taylor’s offending and ultimately brought him to justice. The NCA will work tirelessly to tackle corruption and breaches of our standards of professional behaviour, without fear or favour, wherever they occur."

A man who used computer technology and real photographs of children to create sexual abuse images and encouraged the rape of children via the internet has been convicted.

Hugh Nelson, 27, has pleaded guilty to a total of 16 charges relating to child sexual abuse offences.

The CPS authorised five charges against Nelson after he was first arrested in June 2023 by Greater Manchester Police, and a number of his digital devices were seized and examined.

It was found that Nelson, of Egerton, Bolton, frequented internet chatrooms where he would exchange and sell computer-generated ‘artwork’ and discuss child sexual abuse with others.

Through these online chatrooms Nelson accepted requests from individuals who wanted him to create explicit images depicting children being harmed both sexually and physically, which he either sold in exchange for money or shared to others for free. Some of this computer-generated artwork requested used images of real children.

Over an 18-month period, Nelson admits he made around £5,000 from selling these images.

Following further examination of his devices by Greater Manchester Police, the CPS charged Nelson with 11 additional offences on 27 February 2024.

New evidence from these searches found that on three separate occasions, to three separate individuals, Nelson exchanged messages on chatrooms capable of encouraging the rape of children under 13

A SEX offender from Barry has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. 

Daniel Breadmore, 50, of Barry Road, refused to handover a phone over to police officers.

The Sexual Harm Prevention Order prevents Breadmore from accessing any devices with access to the internet.  

In May 2022, he was sentenced to 18 months for four counts of possessing indecent images of a child.

In the same hearing he was sentenced for the offence of engaging in sexual communication with a child.  

On June 5, when police entered the address of the defendant, it appeared he had a phone in the pocket of his trousers.  

He handed over one phone, but when officers asked him to hand over a second phone, officers said he went ‘ballistic’, it was heard in court.  

The phone was found to have software that stopped the defendant from being seen through an IP address.  

There was no evidence there were videos on there but there was concerning content referring to incest, said the prosecutor.  

This was in breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order made by Cardiff Crown Court on May 30, 2022.  

Breadmore pleaded guilty to breach of the order on Friday June 7, 2024, and was sentenced in court on August 8.  

The judge sentenced him to 12 months in prison and said the Sexual Harm Prevention Order will carry on for another eight years or so.

A former offshore worker who was jailed over the attempted rape of a 12-year-old girl has been fined after he sexually assaulted an NHS nurse.

Thomas Donald, who suffers from poor mobility, pleaded guilty to slapping the female nurse by slapping her on the backside as she tried to assist him in getting into a shower at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

A dangerous rapist has been jailed as part of the Metropolitan Police Service’s ongoing commitment to protect women and girls from harm.

Victor Adegbesan, 34 (15.10.1989) of Inverness Street, Camden was sentenced to 6 years 7 months’ imprisonment at Wood Green Crown Court on Friday, 26 July. He was previously found guilty of two counts of rape after a trial at the same court on Friday, 3 May.

On Thursday, 22 July 2021 Adegbesan subjected the victim-survivor to a frightening and horrific ordeal when he raped her. An investigation began after Met officers quickly responded to a 999 call by the victim. The team worked around-the-clock to gather evidence and secured a charge the next day, keeping Adegbesan in custody and off the streets.

A university graduate was found in possession of indecent images after police pulled him over in Newcastle.

Joshua Tilley was stopped by police after "suspicious" online activity had been flagged up to them, and his mobile phone was seized. Following an examination, 11 indecent images in category C were discovered on the phone and he was arrested.

This week, Tilley, of West Bridgford, Nottingham, appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court facing a charge of making indecent images. He pleaded guilty to the offence, which was committed on or about May 13, 2022.

The court heard that police were on duty in Newcastle when Tilley's vehicle was stopped. Stephen Davies, prosecuting, said: "They stopped a vehicle which was occupied by the defendant. His mobile phone was seized and examined and a number of images were found. [A total of] 11 category C images involving children were found."

The court heard Tilley had no previous convictions. Michael Gibson, defending, said: "He came to police [attention] due to some suspicious activity on the web. There was a file with 11 pictures on his phone, the last time that file was accessed was in 2020.

"He had graduated with a first degree and was studying in Edinburgh, he was bored and was chatting to a female [online] and she told him she was 16-years-old. The [chat] was transferred to Snapchat and she sent him some images. He never requested them."

Magistrates fined Tilley £666 and ordered him to pay a surcharge of £266 and costs of £85. He will also be on the sex offenders' registers for five years.

A child sex offender could face another spell behind bars after breaching a court order.

Chrissena Lamar failed to comply with conditions imposed in 2017 after being jailed for a year following a conviction for sexual activity with a child under 14.

The 69-year-old, who was listed as male on court lists but identifies as a woman, had been placed on the sex offenders’ register and told to sign in at a police station once a year.

But the pensioner failed to check in with officers in Dover on March 28 – in breach of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

It was not the first time Lamar had failed to comply with the strict conditions of the SHPO, having previously been found with a mobile phone police had not been informed about.

Referring to his client as “she” throughout the hearing, Lamar’s solicitor, James Langridge, told the court his client had mental health issues and had previously been in hospital for some time.

He conceded Lamar had not completed the annual registration in March, but argued the matter could be dealt with via a fine.

Deputy District Judge Claire Luxford decided against sentencing Lamar during a hearing at Folkestone Magistrates on July 31.

She instead asked probation to carry out a pre-sentence report, telling officers and Lamar that all punishments would be considered.

She told the defendant: “This offence is aggravated by your previous convictions and I order an all-options report on you, which will include the option of being sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court.”

Lamar, of Park Street, Dover, was granted bail and will next appear at the same court on the morning of October 3.

A vile paedophile instructed women to sexually abuse their own children in ‘disturbing’ online chats. Persistent offender Kevin Watson has been locked up again for another series of disgusting crimes.

Police discovered the ‘extremely graphic’ chats on devices which he’d tried to hide when they checked up on him. After they made the grim discovery, Watson, 61, from Stretford, was hauled back before the courts and is now serving another jail sentence.

The sex offender realises he has ‘come to the end of the road’ and is ‘determined to make long lasting change’, according to his lawyer.

Minshull Street Crown Court heard Watson had previously been handed a sexual harm prevention order when he was locked up and in 2020. He thought he was chatting to who he believed to be a 13-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, but in fact they were undercover police officers posing as children to snare paedophiles.

Last year, Watson was jailed for two years for breaching the order. Officers from GMP’s sex offender management unit attended his home and asked him to hand over electronic devices for inspection.

Watson handed over some of them, but after searching on his wireless router the officers realised there were a further two devices which he hadn’t disclosed. Two further devices were found hidden behind a gas meter and under some drawers in his bedroom.

By the time he was sentenced to two years, the devices had not been fully examined. But they eventually were and officers discovered further incriminating material.

“On these devices the police discovered text message threads between the defendant and four females,” prosecutor Joshua Bowker said. “All of the chat threads were extremely graphic and disturbing.

“They included the defendant instructing these women to commit sexual offences against their own children.” He added: “These four females are unknown, the police cannot identify who they are. They appear to be from other countries.”

Police checked up on Watson again in April this year, and he handed over a phone and laptop to officers. They discovered that he had been accessing ‘teen chat rooms’ on five separate dates, which he was banned from doing as part of the sexual harm prevention order.

Watson pleaded guilty to four counts of publishing obscene articles, and breaching a sexual harm prevention order. Defending, James Hudson said of the defendant: “He knows full well, if he continues on this path, sentences will just get longer and longer.”

Mr Hudson said Watson lives a ‘fairly lonely and solitary life’, and said his ‘daily consumption’ of alcohol affected his ‘judgement and control’. Watson is ‘determined to make long lasting change’ and ‘knows he can’t continue in this way’, Mr Hudson added.

Recorder Geoffrey Lowe sentenced Watson to a further two-and-a-half years in prison. “You are acquiring a very unenviable record for sexual offences,” the judge told him.
