A Grantham man who was convicted of sexually assaulting an under-age girl was today (Friday August 16) jailed for 11 years.

Nicholas Manning, 50, of Edwards Street, was found guilty of three charges of assault by touching of a girl under 13 years old after an eight day trial at Lincoln Crown Court in July.

The jury also convicted Manning of a single charge of of assault by penetration of a girl under 13 years old - but cleared him of two other charges of rape and assault by touching.

All the offences occurred over one day in January this year.

In an impact statement which was read out in court the victim described how she now had difficulty sleeping and suffered both flashbacks and problems eating.

Emotionally, she described finding the incidents difficult to talk about and said she was now less sociable.

The girl's mother described how the court process had left her feeling numb and sick, and impacted her daughter's schooling.

"It broke my heart to see her go through it," she added.

Chris Jeyes, mitigating for Manning, argued the psychological impact on the victim was not in the most severe category.

Mr Jeyes also argued Manning had not deliberately used alcohol to facilitate the offences.

"This is a defendant with no similar previous convictions," Mr Jeyes added.

Passing sentence Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight told Manning his victim was vulnerable and repeatedly assaulted while she drifted in and out of consciousness.

"There was clearly a great impact from your offending," Judge Sjolin Knight added.

Manning was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will have to register as a Sex Offender for life.

A PREDATOR was caught messaging who he thought was a 12-year-old girl telling her to record herself doing a sex act and send it to him.

Paul Chesher, of Herbrandston, began messaging schoolgirl ‘Ellie’ on the social network site Kik on August 31, 2021. It was actually an undercover police officer.

When the decoy said they were at school, Chesher asked them to “sneak to the bathroom” and send him a picture, prosecutor Regan Walters said.

The defendant sent pictures which showed his face and told the decoy he was 56.

Mr Walters said Chesher would repeatedly refer to ‘Ellie’ as being “too young”, that he would “get in to trouble”, and that he “could go to jail”, as well as referencing that ‘Ellie’ “could be the police” and stating “this is so wrong”.

Despite this, he continued to ask the decoy for pictures, about her underwear and about her sexual experiences. He also told ‘Ellie’ to delete their conversations.

Chesher also directed the ‘girl’ to masturbate, and asked her to film herself doing it and send it to him.

Police were able to identify Chesher’s email and then his IP address. He was arrested at his home on October 22, 2021.

Stuart John, in mitigation, said there had been a “substantial delay” in the case coming to court.

“He has never been in any sort of trouble before,” he said.

“He feels a deep sense of shame being arrested for offences of this nature.”

Mr John said Chesher had suffered from medical issues which led to loneliness at the time of his offending.

Mr Walters said the delay was caused by a more than year-long hold-up in the devices being analysed, with a review of the material not completed until last August, and a delay in getting permission from Homeland Security in America to access information from Kik.

“You persisted in these activities for over a month. You knew full well what the consequences of this were to be,” said Judge Geraint Walters.

“This wasn’t a momentary lapse in judgement, it was a persistent one.

“You still haven’t come to fully accept that the motivation had nothing to do with your mental or physical health, but your interest in children.”

Chesher was sentenced to 27 months in prison. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years, and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

Detective Constable Paul Kelly, of Dyfed Powys Police, said: “This sentence and the investigation itself demonstrated excellent collaborative working between police agencies.

“It sends a clear message to perpetrators that crime against children is abhorrent, and that we as police will find the perpetrators and seek justice for the children involved.”

Tarian Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) case officer, Detective Constable Isaac Gott, said: “Our ROCU is dedicated to identifying individuals who have a sexual interest in children, and we will relentlessly pursue them.

“In addition to his sentence, Chesher now has a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be required to register as a sex offender for 10 years.”

A man who 'clearly poses a danger to children' has been locked up after he tried to abduct a 14-year-old boy in Stockport.

Sheraz Bhatti was sitting in his orange and black Mini car on Jacksons Lane in the Hazel Grove area on March 20 last year when he spotted the boy walking home. He shouted him over to get his attention, a court heard.

Bhatti, 43, then asked him if he wanted to get in the car. He offered to take him home and told him he had drinks to give him. Thankfully the boy continued walking and told his parents what had happened when he got home. They contacted the police.

Officers later found that Bhatti had searched on the internet for a school on the street where he had parked up and spoken to the boy. They tracked down the distinctive Mini as belonging to him and found it parked outside his home in Wythenshawe the following day.

They seized two phones and found almost 300 indecent images of children on them, according to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). Some were category A, the worst kind, with others category B and C.

Bhatti was also found to have four bank accounts which he had not informed police about - which was in breach of the sex offender indefinite notification requirements he was made subject to following a conviction for sexual offences in 2008. He initially denied attempting to abduct the boy, but accepted he was on the scene.

In December last year, he then pleaded guilty to attempting to abduct a child. He also pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of a child, two counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child, one count of distributing an indecent photograph of a child. and failing to comply with notification requirements.

Today (August 16), at Minshull Street Crown Court, Bhatti, of Longhope Road, Wythenshawe, was jailed for four years and three months. Richard Holliday, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS North West, said: "This incident encapsulates every parent's worst nightmare. Sheraz Bhatti clearly poses a danger to children.

"I would like to thank the boy for his quick thinking in raising the alarm which has helped us bring him to justice and protect other children from any other potential abuse. The Crown Prosecution Service takes offending of this nature extremely seriously and will work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice."

A man has been jailed for nine months after exposing his genitals on the London Underground.
 
Dan Pirvu, 26, of Ripple Road, Barking, was sentenced on 14 August at Inner London Crown after he was found guilty by a jury of one count of exposure.
 
He also will have a 10 year signature on the Sex Offenders Register and has been given a 5-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order with the following conditions:

• Prohibited from entering any London Transport Tube station as set out on the London Transport Tube map
• Prohibited from travelling on any London Transport Tube service (either above or below ground)

The court heard how, on Friday 17 November 2023, at around 9.05pm, a member of the public approached a member of TfL staff and reported a man – now known to be Pirvu - exposing his genitals on the District Line platform of West Ham underground station.
 
The member of rail staff flagged this to the CCTV control room, who could immediately see Pirvu on the platform with his trousers exposing both his bottom and genitals. Pirvu was also witnessed by the TfL staff member with his trousers around his knees, exposing himself, and causing members of the public to move away.
 
Pirvu was reported immediately to British Transport Police, who attended the station and arrested Pirvu at 9.13pm.
 
Investigating officer Detective Constable Michael Taylor, said: “There is no place for this kind of behaviour on the rail network and we will work quickly to apprehend these kinds of offenders. 
 
"I hope this sentence, along with the Sexual Harm Prevention Order will give him time allow him to reconsider his actions and prevent him from offending again in the future."

A CAMERA-SHY sex offender from Ayr who was caught with more than 1,750 sick photos and videos of children as young as four being abused has dodged a jail term.

Kieran Brown hid the horrific images across various digital devices at his address in Churchill Towers on South Harbour Street.

Brown hid his face from the Advertiser's photographer when he turned up at the town's sheriff court to be sentenced.

The 24-year-old had pleaded guilty to charges of possessing, and making copies of, the indecent images over a period of 18 months.

The court heard officers recovered 28 hours of vile video footage, including children aged four to 16 being abused.

The haul included more than 400 videos classed by police as being at ‘category A’ level – the most serious type.

Brown, who amassed the disgusting images between September 2021 and February 2023, was added to the sex offenders register after submitting his guilty pleas in July.

A judge said Brown knew what he was doing was wrong - and also thought he knew how to "hide his tracks".

A not guilty plea to a further charge of possessing extreme pornography involving animals was accepted by prosecutors.

The procurator fiscal depute said: "The accused appeared on an undertaking [to attend court] on March 13, 2023. He entered no plea and the case was continued for further examination. Bail was granted with special conditions.

"An investigation identified access to indecent images of children at the address of the accused. A search warrant was granted, and on February 16 police attended the locus and his brother attended at the door.

"The accused was traced in the bedroom and police carried out a search. 

"Various electronic devices were seized: two mobiles, a laptop, a Kindle, a computer tower and a hard drive.

"A cyber crime examination revealed indecent images were confirmed to be present on the Kindle and laptop.

"The accused was arrested and conveyed to Ayr police office. He made no comment during interview and was released on an undertaking.

"A total of 1,757 moving and still images were recovered from the devices. 

"In the hard drive, none of the images were readily accessible to users, and were deleted prior to its being examined. 

"In total, 429 accessible still images, 573 accessible moving images, 621 inaccessible still images, and 134 inaccessible moving images were found. The total run time was around 28 hours.

"In relation to categories, in category A there were 43 accessible images and 183 inaccessible, along with 407 accessible videos and 80 inaccessible.

"In category B there were 39 accessible images and 96 inaccessible; 75 accessible videos and 20 inaccessible.

"In category C, police found 347 accessible images and 243 inaccessible, along with 91 accessible videos and 34 inaccessible.

"The material in each category included children aged four to 16 being sexually exploited. 

"The Kick Messenger personal online chat app allows a high level of anonymity in chat conversations, and file sharing was found on the Kindle.

"The accused was signed in and images had been received. There were no signs of images being shared by the accused.”

The fiscal said a variety of apps had been used by Brown to attempt to clean up his devices but that police had still found “relevant material” during their search.

The prosecutor asked for a ‘sexual harm prevention order’ to be imposed on Brown.

Defence solicitor Colin McLaughlin said: “There is a very detailed social work report and there are no cases outstanding.  

“He continues to have family support. His father is here supporting him. His parents are no longer together, and he is living in a property owned by his father  

“He tendered his resignation on Friday, regardless of the outcome.” 

Sheriff Desmond Leslie said: “Going by the Crown’s narrative it is quite clear your are extremely adept at using digital apparatus, electronic apparatus, and computers. 

“To have used such knowledge to cover your tracks, you did know what you were doing. 

“You knew what you were doing was wrong.  I’m satisfied the social worker, who is a seasoned observer of behaviour, is satisfied you have shown remorse. 

“This level of abuse will not under any circumstances be tolerated, and people do go to jail for this. 

“This is not a victimless crime. The victims were those poor children being subjected to whatever behaviour in the images, moving and still. I don’t know the impact on these victims.” 

However he added: “I can deal with this through a non-custodial community payback order.” 

Brown was placed under social work supervision for three years, and was ordered to take part in the Moving Forward Making Changes programme, which aims to address the behaviour of sex offenders. 

He will remain on the sex offenders register throughout the three years of the order.

The Crown's request for a sexual harm prevention order was granted and will strictly limit his access to the internet.

Brown's face was shielded by his father from the Advertiser's photographer as he entered the court building.

Afterwards a masked and hooded man left the building with his face fully covered, running the full distance along the Low Green to get away.

A vile sex offender who assaulted a girl hundreds of times left a 'horrible shadow' lingering over her for decades. Terry Godwin targeted his victim when she was a young child.

The abuse went on for years - haunting his victim for 'as long as she can remember', Liverpool Crown Court heard. Godwin even paid money in an attempt to buy his victim's silence.

But decades later, he has finally faced justice for his evil crimes. The court heard on Tuesday (August 20) how the victim came forward to police in 2022, the Liverpool Echo reports.

David Polglase, prosecuting, described how the complainant told Merseyside Police she 'spent her life pretending that the abuse didn't happen'. Godwin was aged between 12 and 19 when the offences took place, and was said to have sexually abused his victim more than 250 times.

The now 39-year-old, of Corwen Close in Moreton, Wirral, assaulted her while masturbating and instructed her to perform sexual acts on him before 'giving her money to keep quiet'. In a statement read to the court on her behalf, the victim said: "For as long as I can remember, I have had this horrible, dark shadow over my life.

"It has affected me in ways it is hard to begin to explain. The shame I felt, I still feel. I have led an extremely lonely life and I have never truly known happiness. I have considered whether it would be easier not to be here. The trauma has stolen my childhood and a lot of my adult life."

She added: "This was all that I knew - pain and misery at the hands of Terry Godwin. He has ingrained feelings inside me that make me feel like I don't deserve to be loved. Happiness is an emotion that only other people feel.

"I believe this man to be a danger to young girls. I am already thinking about the time when he walks the streets again and I am worried what he might be capable of."

Godwin, who has no previous convictions, admitted a total of 42 child sex offences including indecent assault and gross indecency with a child. Rebecca Smith, defending, told the court: "It is quite clear that he has always offered an apology.

"It may not be worth much, but he has always reflected and indicated not only an apology for his behaviour but also how he is disgusted with the offences he committed. The defendant has had to have a number of biopsies and has had to have surgery, and he has had a diagnosis of a rare swallowing condition called achalasia. It is something he will have to deal with, and it might be somewhat more difficult to deal with when he is incarcerated."

Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, Godwin was jailed for seven years - of which he must serve at least two thirds before becoming eligible for release - and handed an additional year on licence. Sentencing, Judge Neil Flewitt KC said: "There has been read to me a particularly moving victim personal statement in which your victim has described how what you did has cast a horrible, dark shadow over the entirety of her life.

"She continues to live with what she describes as the mental torture of what you did to her. These feelings are with her every day of her life. I am satisfied that your victim has suffered severe psychological harm. You gave her money in an attempt to persuade her not to tell anyone what you were doing."

"I take into account your subsequent lack of offending. You have reached the age of 39 without committing any further offences. I take into account your ill health."

Godwin was also handed a 20-year sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim for life. He will be required to sign the sex offenders' register indefinitely.

A Rotherham woman sobbed as she was sent to prison for inciting a vulnerable teenage boy, said to have the mental capability of an 11-year-old, to engage in sexual activity with her.

Jailing 25-year-old Kelsey Brookes for three separate sex offences against the boy, Judge David Dixon said: You made explicit requests to, in effect, have sex with a child.

You sent him videos of yourselfand you sent pictures of yourself in the shower, fully naked.

Sheffield Crown Court heard how the boy, described as very vulnerable, was 15 at the time of the offences. He is entitled to lifelong anonymity.

A boy with the mental capability of an 11-year-old was being asked to have sex with an adult, who was sending graphic images of her pleasuring herself, Judge Dixon said, adding: His ability to comprehend adult emotions is greatly restricted.

Over several months, Brookes contacted the boys phone 1,413 times, while he contacted her 2,467 times, prosecutor Gurdial Singh told the court.

Mr Singh said some messages were sexually graphic and outlined what the pair wanted to do to each other.

A picture of the boys genitals, which he sent to Brookes, was retained on her phone.

Judge Dixon said he was obliged to sentence Brookes for the offence of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity on the basis there was no sexual activity carried out between the pair - with her offending limited to what was uncovered in her phone communication with the boy.

He told the court, however, that he has doubts about that, given the nature of their communication.

Brookes offending was revealed after her phone was examined and she was charged with causing or inciting a boy aged 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity; an offence of engaging in sexual activity with a child and one offence of causing a child aged 13 to 15 to watch or look at an image of sexual activity.

Brookes, of Whitehill Road, Brinsworth, Rotherham, admitted all three charges.

Defending, Rebecca Randall said Brookes has shown genuine remorse for her offending, through her guilty pleas, glowing letters of recommendation, and her letter to the court.

Ms Randall said that while Brookes - who previously held a clean criminal record - did not seek to excuse or justify her behaviour, she was enduring a period of extreme stress at the time she committed the offences.

This behaviour was entirely out of character, said Ms Randall.

Shes consumed by shame, said Ms Randall, adding that Brookes mental health had deteriorated to the extent that she felt it necessary to contact the mental health crisis team in April 2024.

Both Brookes and members of her family, who were sitting in the public gallery, sobbed as Judge Dixon sent her to begin a 30-month prison sentence.

He also made her the subject of a 15-year sexual harm prevention order, which will restrict her use of the internet and prohibit her from living under the same roof as a boy under the age of 18, unless she receives permission from the relevant local authority.

A former Police Scotland officer who subjected three former partners to violent attacks, sexual abuse and controlling behaviour has been jailed.

Christopher Ferguson, 31, targeted his victims over a 14-year period in the Lanarkshire area, including while at Glasgow's Helen Street police station.

He subjected one woman to repeated assaults, told her what she could wear, read her text messages and took away her mobile phone.

Ferguson was found guilty of nine charges including two counts of voyeurism.

He stalked one of the women through repeated phone calls and texts, delivered unwanted gifts, monitored her social media and waited outside a relative's home for her.

He sent a second woman intimate photographs of himself, repeatedly shouted and swore at her and made threats to harm himself.

The woman was also subjected to repeated violent assaults, including choking her, causing injury on multiple occasions.

He stalked the same woman by repeatedly monitoring her movements, turning up at her home and contacting her about an ongoing police investigation against him.

A third woman was also repeatedly attacked by Ferguson, causing her to fall down a flight of stairs.

'Unimaginable trauma'

He was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison and his name has been added to the sex offenders register for 10 years.

Non-harassment orders, preventing Ferguson from contacting or attempting to contact his victims, were also granted for a 10-year period.

Les Brown, procurator fiscal for South Strathclyde, said Ferguson is a "habitual domestic abuser" who inflicted "unimaginable trauma" on his victims.

“It took courage for them to speak out against a figure of some authority and I would commend their determination to seek justice," he said.

“The Crown is committed to the effective and fair prosecution of domestic and sexual crime, no matter who the offender is.

“I would urge anyone who has been the victim of similar offences to come forward.

“You will be listened to and supported as we use all the tools available to us to seek justice.”

A man found guilty of raping a vulnerable teenage girl in a dark alley in Plymouth has been handed an eight-and-a-half-year jail sentence and will be deported after his release from prison.

Mohammed Abdullah, aged 34 and of no fixed address - but who had been staying with his sister in King Street - denied he raped the teen twice at the rear of the House of Fraser building in Plymouth city centre on October 22, 2022. A jury of eight women and four men at Plymouth Crown Court, having heard the evidence against him, instead found him guilty after eight hours of deliberation. Dishonestly denying the offences, he forced his victim to give evidence and relive her ordeal in court.

Prosecutor James Waddington reminded the court that Abdullah, an Algerian national, was caught on CCTV approaching several women during the course of the previous evening and into the early hours of October 22 in the vicinity of the sundial in Armada Way.

One of the women came forward after seeing his picture on PlymouthLive as he appeared at Plymouth Magistrates' court following his arrest, telling police he had asked her where he could find a sex worker. Others were traced by police who said Abdullah had asked them to engage in sexual activity for money, both before and after the rapes.

The victim - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - had been at a nearby hotel after an evening out with her boyfriend. The court heard that she had left the hotel with a bottle of wine and, as she walked through the city in a confused and anxious state, considered staying with a trusted friend instead of at the hotel.

The jury had been shown footage of the girl walking through parts of the city centre, but also of Abdullah who was first seen with another woman he claimed was his "girlfriend" called "Tina". The jury heard he did not mention her during police interviews, only claiming her existence during the trial. During his cross examination he was unable to say where his "girlfriend" lived, her full name or where she worked, only saying she was a "nurse" and they were still getting to know each other.

Abdullah claimed that his victim beckoned to him and that he first walked into the alley because he was afraid she was trying to lure him into a situation where he would be mugged for his phone and 20 he had on him. He also claimed that she began to mention money, grabbed at his penis and pulled it out before putting it in her mouth and 30 seconds later taking it out to ask for more money.

The jury heard Abdullah had told police: "I thought she was a prostitute because of her attire and because she walked past me several times".

When a tracker dog found semen of his in the alley, he claimed that it was there because, after she left the alley he had masturbated. He also claimed that she put the idea of sex into his head which was the reason he then went looking for a sex worker.

secution's case that Abdullah had told a pack of lies about the entire exchange, questioning the existence of 'Tina' and suggesting it was yet another women he was approaching that night with the aim of having sex.

The jury also heard Abdullah claimed that, in Algeria, he had worked for the Ministry of Education "in the office relating to residency of female students at university" as a chef, until he suffered an accident, injuring his back.

The teenage girl's victim impact statement was read to the court by Mr Waddington in which wrote how she had been greatly affected by the two sexual assaults, leaving her feeling conscious about her appearance when she went out, which she now rarely did.

She also said that she now felt "uncomfortable with having a female body" as she no longer wanted anyone to sexualise any part of it. She added that she no longer trusted men around her and was greatly upset that her horrific experience was now a topic of gossip by others, explaining that she had "no control" over what is said about her, just as she had lost that control over her own body on that night.

She said she did not want to remain in this city to continue her studies, such was the painful reminder of the city centre and what was done to her. She wrote: "I'm struggling to carry on as normal. I fell like all men were capable of doing something like that. I didn't feel this way before the incident."

She wrote how she blamed herself and felt guilt about what had happened, asking that if she had not forgotten her headphones and headed back to the hotel, then she would not have been targeted by Abdullah. She added that she "felt shame" about what happened to her.

She wrote: "I just want to forget it all. It's changed my life completely and I just hope that it hasn't ruined the rest of my life."

Sentencing Abdullah, Judge Peter Johnson rounded on him, noting how he had approached other women not only before the rapes, but even afterwards, such was his appetite. He noted how the 34-year-old pervert had loitered in the area of the Sundial approaching women and asking them for sex or where to direct him to sex workers.

He remarked how he had encountered his victim, who was already in an "extremely distressed state". He said he rejected his claim of being misunderstood when he approached women to ask for sex after he had raped his victim and then masturbated in the alley.

He noted Abdullah's claim that the girl had suggested sex in exchange for money and pulled him into the alley. Judge Johnson said: "Anyone who knows the the full story and had watched the CCTV will know that your assertions were preposterous and simply a futile attempt to evade justice".

Judge Johnson also remarked on the "enormous and enduring effect" Abdullah's crimes had had on his teenage victim, leaving her feeling ashamed, before he forcefully told the 34-year-old "she has nothing to be ashamed about. You and only you are responsible for what happened that night."

He said he noted the pre-sentence report, in which Abdullah still denied he did anything wrong adding that he "still maintain that ludicrous account of her propositioning you. In short there is no remorse".

Taking into account the sentencing guidelines as well as the aggravating and mitigating factors, Judge Johnson said he would pass a sentence of eight-and-a-half years, accepting that he had spent the equivalent of 194 days in custody to count towards his term. He told Abdullah he would be released at the two-third stage and would be liable to be deported on his release - effectively after five years and eight months.

He added that Abdullah he would be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and also be subject to the Disclosure and Barring Service - however academic a legal exercise this would be - banning him from ever working with vulnerable adults and children ever again.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren Roach said: "This was a particularly disturbing crime which has had a profound impact on the victim and had heightened community tensions within the city centre and night time economy.

"Responding immediately, officers were able to identify the scene and secure forensic evidence. Following fast-track enquiries and a proactive manhunt, the offender was located within hours of the offence, despite his identity being unknown at the time.

"The victim has shown incredible bravery and resilience and I commend her and her family for the strength they have shown throughout the investigation and court process.

"Women and girls should be free to walk the streets without fear for their safety. Its for that reason that violence against women and girls remains a top priority for the Force and we will continue to work tirelessly with our partners to ensure this.

"Id also like to thank the Crown Prosecution Service and the officer in the case for their diligence in securing and presenting the evidence in a uniquely complex case, with many witnesses being brought to give evidence at trial.

"Whilst the impact will be long lasting, I hope that todays sentence offers a degree of reassurance and justice to the victim."

A Plymouth man who filmed himself attacking and raping a woman has been jailed. Jamie Baker, 38, of no fixed abode, appeared at Plymouth Crown Court on Friday, June 28, where he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The court heard how Baker was convicted on June 6 of two counts of rape and one of false imprisonment following a trial. During the trial, the jury was told how, in May last year, Baker had called the victim, who was known to him, and demanded that she go and see him at a property in Plymouth, falsely claiming that she had stolen from him.

Baker, who the jury had been told had taken cocaine, shut her in a room and blocked the door with a chair, jamming the handle with a DVD player and barricading the door so she could not escape and no-one else could enter. He dragged her around the room by her hair, before pushing her face down on a sofa, putting his knee into her back and then tied her hands behind her back with a tea towel.

He continued the attack despite her pleading with him to stop. The jury heard that he was wearing gloves at the time and put loud music on to drown out his victim's cries and screams. He then slapped her face, pushed her around and then shoved her over another chair, raping her twice.

The court heard the woman was crying and begging him to stop, whereupon he told her "f***ing shut up". She was left in agony and bleeding from her painful ordeal. He then pushed her onto the sofa and, as prosecutors explained, sought to "humiliate" her by ejaculating onto her face.

Only afterwards did he reveal to her that he had filmed the entire attack and the rapes on his phone, showing her the footage when she disbelieved him. Baker denied all the offences, but was found guilty of two counts of rape and one of false imprisonment and not guilty of 16 offences other against the same victim.

The lead investigator in the case, Detective Constable Kate Dure, read the victim impact statement to the court, where the woman explained that it had taken her "almost a year to be able to say out loud or even to read it or write". She wrote how even thinking about it still made her "feel sick".

She said she struggled to put into words the "hurt, the anger and the guilt" she felt every day and that her life had "changed completely and I can't even explain how".

Addressing Baker, she wrote: "What you have done to me is soul-destroying. You have caused me severe psychological damage."

She said she has been left having "nightmares and panic attacks" and felt that she was "a failure" as "a woman".

The court heard that Baker had previous convictions for football-related violence, aggravated burglary and drug dealing.

Judge Peter Johnson told Baker that his pre-sentence report revealed that he still denied the offence, claiming that it was consensual. He said the effect on his victim was clear from her victim impact statement. 

Judge Johnson told Baker he would be jailed for 12 years for the rapes, to run concurrently, and two years for the false imprisonment, also to run concurrently. He said he would serve two-thirds of the sentence before he was released on licence. Judge Johnson said Baker would also be subject of a indefinite restraining order meaning he can never contact his victim again.

DC Dure, from the Sexual Offences Investigation Team, said: "First and foremost I want to praise the bravery of the victim for coming forward to report such a vicious and heinous crime and for supporting the police investigation. We welcome the sentence passed by the judge and I hope the outcome today gives others the courage to come forward and report offences to us. We will listen and you will be heard."

Stephen Godridge groomed his victim over Snapchat before sexually abusing her. The 31-year-old had only been released from prison months beforehand, after he had exploited two other youngsters in hauntingly similar circumstances.

In a hearing on Thursday (July 4) at Liverpool Crown Court, prosecutor Trevor Parry-Jones said Godridge was a 'sophisticated, predatory paedophile whose intent was to satisfy his predilection for sexual activity with teenage girls'. He told the court that Godridge had 'sought out underage girls using Snapchat', while purporting to be 23-years-old, reports the Liverpool Echo.

The court heard that Godridge, of Southfield Street in Bolton, sent the 14-year-old complainant a friend request on the platform before persuading her to send him pictures of herself in her underwear. He then drove to Liverpool from his home in Bolton in order to collect her in his car, after which he took her to Manchester to watch him play football.

Having returned to Merseyside during hours of darkness, Godridge took his victim to a car park at Breckside Park in Anfield where he sexually assaulted and raped her in the back seat as she "told him to stop throughout". She had taken pictures of the inside of his vehicle during the journey due to her "concern and apprehension" using her mobile phone.

his ultimately led to his arrest after automatic number plate recognition technology confirmed that he had visited the area. Under interview, Godridge claimed that he "believed that she was not underage" and alleged the teenager had told him that she was 17 before they engaged in consensual sex.

Godridge was said to have "perfected his method over many years prior", having received 57 months behind bars at Preston Crown Court in 2019 after being convicted of two counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child.

In "exactly the same modus operandi" on this occasion, he befriended two 15-year-old girls separately on Snapchat while purporting to be aged 19 and 22 then sent them lewd images of himself and had sex with them in his car in secluded locations.

Reports from the time detailed how Godridge, who was also handed a sexual harm prevention order banning him from having contact with girls under the age of 16, previously served as a special constable with Greater Manchester Police before he was suspended from duty after being arrested in October 2016.

He later resigned from his role with the force and was released from his sentence four months prior to his latest offending.

Godridge was found guilty of two counts of rape, sexual assault, two charges of assault by penetration and breaching a sexual harm prevention order by a jury following a trial. Appearing via video link to HMP Liverpool, he was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 10 years and eight months this morning, Friday.

A police officer sexually assaulted four women on the night he was hailed a hero at the Scottish First Aid awards.

David Jones, 36, was at the event at Glasgow's Radisson Blu hotel in March 2023 for his role in facing-down a knife-wielding man in Edinburgh.

He was found guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court of groping a firefighter, a swimming instructor, her sister and a paramedic student.

He was given 150 hours of unpaid work. Police Scotland said Jones had been suspended and would face misconduct proceedings.

Jones, who had been an officer for six years, was recognised at the ceremony along with three colleagues for “heroic acts of bravery”.

The officers had faced a mentally-ill man with a knife while responding to reports of a gas leak. They provided first aid and managed to evacuate the area.

Jones, from Auchterarder in Perthshire, collected the event’s Chairperson’s Award with his colleagues.

Sheriff McIntyre told him: "It’s not lost on anyone that you were receiving an award that evening for your vital efforts and first aid.

"You made a considerable contribution to our community. None of that takes away from the obvious distress your conduct caused."

“Your victims were public servants celebrating their success that they were being commended for. You ruined that evening for them."

The trial heard how the award recipients had partied to an ABBA tribute act and DJ after the ceremony.

The 23-year-old paramedic student told the court how Jones made several attempts to dance with her.

She said he tried to grab her breast before putting his hand under her dress. The witness told the trial she had suffered from PTSD since the incident.

The 30-year-old firefighter said she felt a "distinctive bump on my back then a grab on my bum".

The swimming instructor, aged 23, told of an "uncomfortable interaction" with a stranger who groped her breast.

She said: "I told him to get away from me."

But the man remained near her group before he approached her sister.

She said she was "grabbed more vigorously" leaving her "uncomfortable and intimidated".

Jones was later thrown out by security for being drunk and encroaching on the personal space of the women.

He told the trial he "potentially" came into physical contact with them, but said he would have stopped dancing with them had they refused.

The father-of-two claimed he "did not know why" he had been kicked out of the awards.

He accepted he may have apologised to the one of the women, but that they were "mistaken by thinking it was something it was not".

His lawyer Christopher Shaw said his client maintains his innocence.

He added: “Mr Jones is a man with good character and knows his position is now untenable. His employment is now over.”

Ch Supt Helen Harrison, Police Scotland head of professional standards, said that damage is caused to public trust "by the actions of those who do not uphold the standards we expect in policing".

She added: "The officer remains suspended and will be the subject of misconduct proceedings."

Jones was found not guilty of a further three sexual assault allegations.

Sheriff Andrew McIntyre ordered him to do 150 hours of unpaid work, put him under supervision and on the sex offenders' register for one year.

A man has been jailed over his sexual relationship with a teenage girl who was 10 years younger than him, a court has heard.

Daniel Outing, 32, was 24 when he became sexually involved with a 14-year-old girl.

Norwich Crown Court heard after becoming involved with the teenager - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - he encouraged her not to go to school.

Outing also warned the girl not to tell others about their sexual encounters - which happened in the Wroxham area - as they would both be in trouble.

Matthew Edwards, prosecuting, said police were informed after the victim disclosed to a family member she had been in sexual relationship with the defendant.

Outing was arrested and his devices seized.

They were found to contain more than  700 indecent images of children, including 102 Category A images - the most serious - featuring children aged between two and four.

Also found were 247 extreme pornographic images featuring a woman and animals.

Outing, of no fixed abode, appeared in court on Thursday to be sentenced after he admitted six counts of sexual activity with a child between April 2017 and July 2018.

He also admitted three counts of making indecent images of a child and possession of extreme pornographic images.

In addition, Outing admitted an offence of failing to comply with notification requirements, in that he did not inform police he became homeless.

Before he was sentenced, the court heard a statement from the victim who said she had "not realised at the time how serious and wrong this was".

She said Outing "encouraged" her to leave school early so they could be together and said she "couldn't tell anyone about it".

He said if she did they would both "get into trouble".

She said it had an impact on her mental health and led to anxiety and depression.

The victim said she could not move on with her life until after the court case.

Judge Andrew Shaw imposed an extended 10-year sentence on Outing - made up of six years in custody and four years on licence - insisting he was a dangerous offender who presented a "significant risk" of serious harm to other young girls.

Judge Shaw said he his victim had suffered "substantial psychological harm".

Andrew Thompson, for Outing, said the defendant pleaded guilty at as early a stage as he could when it reached the crown court.

He said Outing has no previous offences of this type and does not have a significant criminal history.

He said the relationship was inappropriate and "should not have happened".

Mr Thompson - who pointed out the case had been extremely delayed - said Outing, who has dyslexia, is "disgusted... with the benefit of hindsight" and has seen "the error of his ways".

Judge Shaw also imposed an indefinite restraining order on Outing meaning he cannot contact his victim.

He was also put on the sex offenders register for life and made the subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order (SHPO).

A convicted sex offender used a social media platform to send indecent images of himself to girl aged 14.

Jordan Saunders, 25, started sending messages to a 14-year-old girl on Instagram in February.

Southampton Crown Court heard how the conversion between Saunders and the girl – who was unknown to him – started very generally.

Four days after initiating conversation, Saunders sent two indecent images to the girl, accompanied by inappropriate messages.

Prosecuting, Keely Harvey said how the pictures were set to disappear after being opened.

But Saunders, previously convicted in 2017 of three counts of sexual activity with a child, did not expect the recipient to be the victim’s parents, who were checking the parental controls on her phone when the pictures were sent.

Ms Harvey said: “The victim’s parents are very vigilant about internet safety, and checking their daughter’s phone revealed the photos and inappropriate messages.

“They did some investigating, found the defendant’s name, and reported him to the police.

“The victim told her parents he had asked her for an inappropriate picture of herself, which she did not send.

“She felt his messages were weird and inappropriate, and often did not respond to him.

“The defendant initially denied knowing the victim when he was interviewed by police.”

The victim, now 15, thought Saunders was a friend from a club she had attended, until he revealed his age to her.

In an impact statement read out in court, she said his “creepy messages” and interaction made her feel embarrassed and uncomfortable.

She said: “I felt disgusting and didn’t want anyone else to do this to me.

“I cut all my hair off so no grown-up men would want to do what he did.”

Saunders, of Bramble Close, Eastleigh, pleaded guilty to one count of failing to comply with the requirements of a sex offenders register, and pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child.

He also pleaded guilty to one count of breaching his sexual harm prevention order.

Mitigating, Eve Shelley said Saunders is seeking counselling in light of this incident.

She said: “He is looking for mental health support and further imprisonment will impact his mental health.”

Judge Nicholas Rowland deemed Saunders to be “dangerous” and posed a risk of harm to girls.

He was sentenced to two years and six months in prison.

As well as his prison sentence, Saunders will be on the sex offenders register for life and subject to a new sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.
